Ford just got named to the Top 5 for the J. D. Powers survey of initial quality. This is huge. I **think** this is a first for an American auto maker. Love Powers or hate them .... They are THE benchmark. All I can add is that the 2010 Ford I bought (getting 34.2 mpg over tha past 800 miles) is perhaps one of the best cars vie ever owned. A great day for American manufacturing. |

I saw the new Jeep ad where they were bragging about it being designed and manufactured entirely in the US. Maybe this economic slump has a REAL silver lining. ~SM |

I really, really like my 08' Jeep Liberty. Never thought that'd be the case. I initially bought it 'cause I got an outstanding deal on it. Of course Consumer's Reports lists it as the crappiest small SUV ever made........go figure..... |

Scary ...... So in the single year that the Feds have "helped" Cadillac has gone from 3rd to 14th? If I were them I'd want as little of that help as I could get! |

My parents had one of the F150's with the bad engine. Didn't live to see 60,000 miles. Called the dealer for them and no help. Hell, they wouldn't even admit there was a problem with it. My wife and I had a '97 Taurus. Wanted to "Do the right thing" and try an American car. It had more problems in under 80,000 miles than my tube frame Buell. LOL! Hopefully they got some of the quality issues resolved. I had no luck with Fords.... |

I will gladly give Ford my money for one reason...They didn't take a bailout. That earns my business, and I was a die hard Chevy guy growing up...But never will I buy another GM product. |

I'm itching to get my paws on a 2011 Mustang. Six cylinder or eight, it doesn't really matter anymore. |

I've never had an issue with any Ford product I've bought. Back in the 70's my dad had one. He drove over the parking spot block things. It blew his 4 wheel drive out. He called and said "Your commercials show you rock crawling with these things." He had a new unit installed the next day. My dad use to drive a 350 at work. He pulled a 53' trailor out of a ditch for a guy stranded one day. Like a hot knife through butter. I've personally had a 84' pickup... no issues. Had a 03' step side... bad O2 sensor at 80k. I'm currently trying to get into a Flex. Test drove one a couple weeks ago. They're awesome! |

I just bought a 2010 F 150. I am very pleased with it so far. Lots of really well designed features. Traded an 04 Chevy for it. |

One neighbor has an F150 with that Triton V8 and 175k miles and still running strong. The other neighbor had that same motor in an SUV, and blew it at 60k miles. Apparently, a fuel injector stuck open, filled the cylinder, and he hydrolocked and made a $6000 "tink" noise. I'd still buy one. But I would take the check engine light *really* seriously, and watch fuel economy for anything unexpected. My father in law had a Tarus and put 180k miles on it, ran great the whole time. |

I put 147,000 on my last F-250. Loved all 3 of my Taurus SHOs. Love the F-150. Love the Focus. Wife now talking about a Shelby Cobra 500 convertible instead of the MB. Cool. |

"Loved all 3 of my Taurus SHOs." I didn't know you were a SHO guy!! I can't wait till the Mustang guys realize that the ECOBoost needs to be the next motor in the Mustang with IRS. 365 hp and 350ft lb with a perfectly flat tq curve. The motor can produce a while lot more, it just needs a trans that can handle it. |

Have you driven a Ford lately? Yeah. You could say that. My daily driver since I sold the struedelwagen: Crappy Ford quality. I had to replace the original starter. You would think they could make a starter that would last more than 40 years... YMMV, Nels |

I have a 1946 Ford coupe that I ride around in on my days off that has all of its original sheet metal. Flat black, with bare metal floors, I've added power seats, power windows and cd player. |

I LOVE FORDS!! I will NEVER own anything else but fords (probably) for the rest of my life. I bleed ford blue hahaha I have a 91' f150 4x4 with the 300ci. I6 and it will NOT die! when it was new my grandpa took 3 trips towing (conventional) 14000 pounds (weighed) from iowa to missouri up nad down hills and the only thing that gave was the E4OD tranny (wouldnt have with a cooler), and now i need to replace the sensor in it and itll be smoothas butter again. Its redline (im guessing) is about 4200rpm and ive had it to 6000rpm and it NEVER floated a valve or even flinched and that was in 4low doin donuts in the mud and NOTHING even broke a sweat. Ive had water over the hood, going through ponds, and pulled out ALOT of chevy's, dodges, and toyotas! Also i like solid axle in the mustang IRS is completely unnecessary it adds weight, is weaker, and is hinestly no better than the trans-am winning suspension thats already in the mustang. I talked to an SVT racer who said the first thing they did when racing the 2000 svt mustang cobra R was yank out the IRS and put in a solid axle, that should tell you all you need to know Im all for the ecoboost in the stang, but they're gonna need so more umph from the v8 if the they want to make it appealing- ala 450hp+ and 600hp+ from the GT500 court- i wish i could even think about owning a GT500, i envy you sir and applaud you at the same time! remember to get the 2011, its an all around better machine then any of the prior GT500's GO FORD!!!! GO USA!!! Jake |

The SHO was a wonderful car . . . In addition to doing lots of things well the motor was pure art. Good news is that chaining the startrer onto t gorgeous Mustang should take about 10 minutes . . . Lots of fond memories od the day you could actually access stuff like the starer, I . . . . As kinda of an advocate of entrepreneurship and the American Craftsperson am just proud to see that Ford . . . . While others are groveling for handouts and bailouts . . . . Has basically said "We are skilled Americans and we can compete with anyone in the world". Man , , , are they doing it. |

The SHO was a wonderful car . . . In addition to doing lots of things well the motor was pure art. That's because the early SHO's (1989-1999) had Yamaha developed motors... the regular ford taurus with ford developed engines of the same time frame were a complete POS. |

Hahahaha . . . never knew . . as all I had were SHO's. It was a blast . . . just like Buells we had a national SHO club . . we all complained about the pulsing front rotor . . . we had a gorgeous slick monthly magazine and I had to go to Anaheim to the SHO Performance (call it the American Sport Bike equivalent) to hang out and buy performance parts. The Ford rotors sucked too but the funny thing was the Mercury rotors were second to none . . including all the high zoot vented aftermarket rotors. I had lots of fun with my last one. When the car arrived it went to Motorola and they removed the seats and carpet and ran all the cabling for a 100w 99ch Mara-Trac (first time they'd installed one in a "civilian car", the Motorola IMTS phone, scanner and radar detection system. They also installed wig-wag headlights and tailights and a complete Whelan strobe system. The strobe systems have become common now . . . . they most certainly were not then. At the time C. L. Canfield Constuctors was about the only IVHS (Intelligent Vehicle/Highway System - now known as ITS - Intelligent Transportation System) and we did all the HSWIM (High Speed Weigh in Motion system) for the Federal Highway Administration. One of the tests was the high speed accuracy calibration. I had an interface in the car for the David Clark aviation headset I used while piloting and I also had a helmet comm system. The fun part was when they closed a 3 mile section of I-70, I-80 or I-95 and I got to do the high speed runs. Those were the days and the SHO was awesome. I've got some photos on my desk of white one . . it was the one I used to haul the Ice White Peark Buell S2 Thunderbolt when I went to and from East Troy. Great memories . . |

Court, You ain't joking on that starter change. I think it took longer to drive to O'Reilly to get a replacement than it did to R&R. Even lowered in the front I was able to do the whole thing without ramps or jacking it up. Simplicity and maintenance of a bygone era. Though, it is pretty cool to drive a car that's 5 years older than I am. Nels |

When I was working as a mechanic for a construction company . . . years ago . . I recall the only thing that took more than a few seconds was getting splines lined up on the starter and the flywheel. Both the Ford and the K20 series Chevrolets (I see the feds have declared "Chevy" to be a derogatory term when referring to their newly acquired car company) were easy to fix anything on. Funny . . . I am typing this from Amato Ford in Mukwonago . . . where I am waiting on my Focus. My one complaint. . . compared from the Mercedes-Benz H.I.D. lighting is the Focus headlights. So I bought a set of P.I.A.A. Extreme White for both the headlights and the fog lights. I was going to install them the night before we left and started reading, on the Ford Focus Fanatics Forum, about the perils and pains of changing lamps. Removing the battery, reprogramming codes and the sliced and diced hands . . and it didn't sound like the thing to be undertaking in the dark the night before a 1,000 mile drive. My bet was that the dealer tech, who does it a couple times a week, would be better qualified. These guys are tops. . . got me in a 0800 and got right on it. The new Fords are damned amazing vehicles. |
