OUTRAGEOUS.

If I shot somebody like that, I guarantee the punishment would have been a lot more severe.

At least they did something...

I read through several articles relating to that, but couldn't find out what the rider did that prompted the officer to fire in the first place...?

Swordsman, Watch the dashcam video. That is why he got ten years. The ex-officer is so messed up, he doesn't think he did anything wrong.

I hope the convicts have a good time with Pee-Wee. 10 years is not enough. attempted murder should have been the charged. I hope the victim sues the hell out of him and his family, although the City will foot that bill unfortunately.

Thank goodness not all cops are total dickheads. It takes something horrible like this for the system to filter the douche nozzles.

That guy looked like he was a few brain cells short of a full deck. It is scary sometimes on who gets paid to carry a gun and make life and death decisions. Barney Fife comes to mind from the looks of that guy.

I would be appealing the bond. That's crazy.

Keep him incarcerated but separate from general population until he loses the appeal and then throw him to the wolves.

He will NEVER see general population. Blue wristband, full protective custody. Worst that will happen to him is other inmates yelling at him when they escort him to and from chow hall by himself.

He's out. He made bail. Free until appeals are done.

There is a bigger thread on this here somewhere, someone on the board is friends with the guy who was shot. They have a Facebook support page for the biker if anyone is interested.

What's even more scary is there were 4 jurors who initially sided with the cop. The other jurors had to convince them to convict. Now that's f ing amazing anyone could even think about siding with the cop after viewing the video and hearing the testimony of his partner. Those must be the people who think cops have shining armor underneath the uniform.

Public servants...uh huh

Well we all should know that this was a wrongful shooting.
It seems, that the jury members fill that if they convict this man there will be repercussions. I am sure theres psychological effects, that a normal person couldnt handle. The stress put on a jury members shoulders here are to much to bare. Why? I am sure some close relative of all the jury members walks a thin line of being convicted every day until that one day they need it the cop will turn a blind eye. Any jury member, who allow this cop to walk free would look like heroes to cops and the justice system.
I was locked up by a cop for under age drinking at the age of 27 with a valid driver license in hand, this was 3 years after I served 7 years active in the military. I was told cops are aloud to make mistakes and no one was held accountable except me.
I am scared of the law! Whats a man suppose to do when the men in blues can do as they please and not be held accountable for their actions?
We all, as American citizens walk fine lines every day, as do cops. Why do cops always get the benefit of doubt?
Sorry, but kids these days are growing up, watching cops get away with abuse and murder. Why not be a cop so you can live and do as you please?
I wish someone could hold the government to the same living standards as us civilians!
It seems we all have to much to lose.

1125rcya, well said. Cops are far too often above the law, this needs to change.

I told my kids years ago to never trust a cop for anything. Do what needs to be done, say what you need to say to get the hell away from the situation and the cop. I've run into far too many, low life, arrogant "police officers" to want to have anything to do with them (that'a a whole 'nuther story in itself). Way too easy to become a cop in this country. Slow, nasty, and totally devoid of any education is the norm for cops in this neck of the woods.....sure, we've got a few good cops in the area, but the bad far outweigh the good. Too bad that stuff like this is allowed to happen.
