Muslims would have hit the Twin Towers no matter who was president at the time. So you could say Islam killed Buell, right?

No! It Started long Before 2000, Bush had Eight Years To Turn Things Around! HE DID NOT!! Like I Said I don’t just Blame Bush Alone but All Politicians in Washington > Pachyderm and Jackass.

F*** Obama !!The MUT LIED!!

Someone Said Buell Sales accounted for about 2 Percent of the Revenue at Harley Davidson. Harley Davidson Revenue is down 75 Percent.
IF you Cannot Make the Money to Pay Your Rent how can you Afford a new Motorcycle?

"So you could say Islam killed Buell"
Harley Davidson Killed Buell, Our Government Killed America!

Ten Thousand Jobs Moved to China because of US consumers. most folks want the cheapest products, ie wal-mart. thats a major part of US job loss not all but part.

"most folks want the cheapest products"

The Company I worked for Saved 11 Cents Per Unit moving Manufacturing to China. On the Boat ride across the Pacific we would learn the Machine did not Work do to Manufacturing Defects. The 11 Cents Per Unit they Saved ended up Costing them between 25 dollars and 75 dollars per unit to Perform EC Repairs. How is that Cheaper?

There is no Quality Control for Products Exported from China. We are still getting Lead Based Products from China.

i am a cost estimator for a company that manufactures the metal shelving, uprights, & displays for stores like walmart, target, & bestbuy. I compete with the import market everyday. My only saving grace is great customer support, & outstanding leadtimes.

Accountants and stock holders run big businesses. As long as the cost savings looks good on paper, it goes, and no one seems to care about the long term, it is all about short term profits, because in 2 years the current execs will be getting a golden parachute, and new people will have to deal with the mess. This is how HD is being run.

ALL buyers buy on value.

If the product you are buying is a piece of crap, you don't mind if it's cheap.

The question isn't whether or not the American people are willing to buy cheap Chinese products for less money from wall mart. The question is why the American people are not permitted to keep more of what they earn giving them the disposable income to be able to buy better value, higher quality products.

Given the choice between being unable to purchase a good quality pair of Made in the USA pliers due to cost and having the money to purchase a cheap pair of Made in China pliers, the average American will buy the cheap pair of pliers rather than to go without.

The intent of the auto bailouts was to put the liability for union extorted pensions squarely on the shoulders of the American taxpayer.

my pontiac comment was very tounge in cheek.

he (Obama) took control of the company. the car czar pretty much told GM how it was going to run things. granted it was GM's fault for taking the bail out money to start with. you mess with the bull you get the horns.

fb is right they never intended to "save" gm.

Then

And ultimately they likely won't be able to. They can perhaps influence the timing and who pays the tab but not the destiny.

I'd never touch a GM or Mopar product after the government screwed investors and bond holders.

I have to agree here. I've never been a Ford guy, but I refuse to reward incompetence and Federal grift with my hard earned money.

The new SHO has the guts to back it up as well . . . .

I had 3 of the old SHO models and the new one is off the charts cool.

I'm waiting on the diesel F-150 or perhaps the Eco-Boost F-150.

Ford's doing some very cool stuff.

I just wish they would introduce the models in the US that they release in Europe.

We tend to get trucks and the ugly sisters.

If Obama could have figured out a way to put the UAW directly on the Federal Payroll, GM and Chrysler would have ceased to exist long ago.

A GM vehicle is near the bottom of my list for the reasons listed above. Obama really screwed the "evil" GM investors and bondholders. Nice going, Hugo.

The bondholders . . . good folks like you and I who had their retirement funds in something, a GM Debenture, that they thought were safe . . got $0.29 on the $1.00 while the UAW got 100%.

You see . . . we, the "investor" represented the evil empire of greed who deserved to be rewarded by having our wealth "redistributed".

If you are upset that your mutual funds are worth less and your IRA balance is down, part of that loss is in the nationalization of Chrysler and GM.

Ain't "spreading the wealth around" grand. : |

Damn I love a good wandering thread. It's like a real conversation! I actually had to scroll back up and look at the thread title to remember what we were talking about...

Speaking of Ford, that new 5.0 Mustang is BAD....ASS. Highest power-to-weight ratio you can buy in a car for under $40k.
Suck it, Camaro guys!

all you inwestors whining about how little you got on the dollar should count your blessings you got anything; most of y'all would have gotten far less - if anything - w/o the bailouts. another reason i wish there were no bailouts.

and all this union bashing is really ridiculous. what's wrong w/the idea of being able to support a family with a working-class job?

When the unions collude with the Administration to force taxpayers to foot the bill for a bailout of union workers pensions they deserve bashing. The unions knew what they were negotiating for was not sustainable in the long term, well boys, the term is up.
