Let me mention that with a jailbreak, the iPhone becomes a lot more fun! There is apps for multitasking, drop-down toggleswitches, apps to categorize apps into folders, and even an app to run older style flash media!

They sell it as fiber optic service and they deliver it through your phone line. That's DSL.

It's FTTN(Fiber to the node) in most places, and Fiber to the premise in newer construction. So yes, it is Fiber is some places. But I've never heard them advertise it as such. But what do I know, I've only had Uverse service for 2 years.

Quality is as good, and sometimes better than Time Warner that I had previously. Over double the HD channels, whole house DVR(What is recorded on the DVR in the living room can be watched on any other Uverse box in the house). All for approximately $40 a month less than Time Warner. I also get 2x the speed and more reliable service VS Time Warner.

More features, more speed and less money was kind of a no-brainer for me. I don't care how it's delivered, as long as it's reliable. So far, it's been far more reliable than TW for me.

Steve,

Sounds like my experience with Verizon FiOS here. Since I am a FiOS customer as well as a Verizon Wireless customer, I can use my Droid as an alternate remote for my television, record shows if I'm away, and Bookmark "On Demand" shows for later viewing when I get back home.

I also didn't have to worry about all the "drama" the local Cablevision customers were having with the Food Channel and WABC recently either.

Jamie, yup, I've had the normal Uverse remote for nearly a year now. I can schedule shows, etc...

Like during the last ride, I was in front of the Buell facility, telling my Uverse box to record the news that they were filming at the Buell factory.

I'm sure I don't get the available speed that you get with FIOS though. I *COULD* get 24mb down/2.5mb up for $65 a month, but I really don't NEED that kind of speed. I currently get 12MB down/1.5MB up for $45 a month.

The only time I've had a problem is during a wicked T-Strom that surged the Uverse router. That knocked out TV and Internet for about 24 hours till a tech came a swapped out the router and one of the set top boxes.

I also get NFL network, which is unavailable to Time Warner customers here. That was a big selling point for me to switch to Uverse.

I'm getting 30mbit up and down with fios. Uverse is definitely better than time warner and they certainly have a lot of features.

I went from cox cable to having a fiber line right up to my house where a converter changes it to a coax wire. I'm very pleased with my bundle of services.

I have Fios with 20meg up and 20meg down. Imagine both of those being maxed for two months straight, not a single termination notice was sent to my house, no interuption of service, I am in love! : )

V was really persistent in wanting/requiring me to submit to a new contract.

1) without my knowing they dropped my 10 friends/family numbers to ONE!
2) current V plans would double my bill and give me less features
3) customer service sucked being a former Alltel customer.

A few selling points to switch to AT&T for me. The majority of my friends/family are with them. The 18% discount on my bill due to my employee discount(no, I do not work for them either).

I wish I could. I'm paying $65 a month for 5M/512 with Charter. I have no choice, other than to have no Internet access. I consider dial up to be no Internet access.

Can't wait for fios to be available in my neighborhood.

I wouldn't hold your breath for FIOS.

ALL VERIZON/WIRELESS/FIOS ETC employees, please close your eyes, put your fingers in your ears and go "LALALALALALALALALA" for one minute.

I am so happy with all my Verizon services that I would gladly pay more for them.

I was always taught that you get what you pay for. If you don't, then stop paying for it and get something else.

Unfortunately, with cable/dsl/fiber, you get companies who were entrenched in a particular area when the homes were being built. It's especially bad when all the wiring is underground. At my last house, everybody said how nice the neighborhood looked due to the lack of overhead wires...

But guess what, Cox cable was the only game in town. No DSL, because all the phone service is delivered by Cox. No other cable companies have access to the area. Your only choice for TV is Cox or dish. You can't even get the DSL bundle with the dish because, guess what the CABLE company owns your phone lines. Thankfully, Cox has pretty good service. Was the best cable service I ever had.

Then I moved back to Long Beach and the FIOS had come to town. Best.... internet... ever.... I'm going to miss it a lot when I move to Atlanta.

I hope you guys found the PDANet tethering app.

Sure is nice with my Tablet PC on the go. BT DUN tethering is nice...but don't keep the phone near your balls as it gets quite warm.

Back to the Droid on the motorcycle. Just learned that Otterbox makes a case specifically for the Droid, and Cycle Gadgets sells a RAM Mount system for the Otterbox... The wheels are turning...

Addendum: Just read the full specs, and the Otterbox for the Droid is NOT waterproof. That is definitely an issue for a motorcycle mount.

Yea they probably can't waterproof it with the slide out keyboard. I take mine out of the aquabox if I plan on using the keyboard.

What about mounting it deep under the faring to keep it out of rain as much as possible?

I don't think the keyboard is the issue... leaving openings for the side buttons, speaker and camera lens and flash appears to be the problem. That and allowing full access to the touch screen.

In fact, it looks like the only thing this thing does is block the slide-out keyboard! That's not really an issue for my purposes because I don't believe in typing while riding anyway. I just want it for the music and navigation capability (and answering the odd phone call that may come in every now and then).

Yea I would just get an Aquabox then. I drilled a small hole in mine for a USB cable, but that was on the bottom so water entry is next to none. I got it blue tooth linked to my Zumo GPS and Scala Bluetooth headset, so I just do the controlling through the Zumo. Trying to use the phone itself is a bit of a pain between my gloves and the Aquabox membrane, but if you were doing anything complex I'd recommend you pull over anyway.

I'm building a new dash next week to hold my iPhone in it's otterbox in the dash (pop out style) next to the tach woot woot. Won't have to worry about water because of the S2's fairing.
