But maybe I should also get a pair of mesh pants, Any brand recomendation?

Stay away from Fieldsheer. I've had 2 pair, and both have had immediate issues with clasps failing and seams coming apart simply from commuting. Kinda' scared to see what happens to them in an actual spill!

Oddly enough, my Fieldsheer jacket has been flawless. Probably made in different mills/countries.

No offense but your friend sounds like an immature idiot. And like some have said, you can't fix stupid.

Sometimes some people will only learn things the hard way.

All that being said, track time does sound like the best idea and the best outlet for his tendencies. If he pulls a wheelie there he will get kicked out though.

That really pees me off about track days and race tracks in general.

Get him into Moto-X or Speedway racing.

In speedway you can wheelie around the whole track on your victory lap if you have the skill and if you win your division that night.

I've seen some of the pros do a complete 1/8-mile-wheelie, corners included.

I am Cavedug and I am a squidaholic. It is hard to explain.I am 43 and felt like I had one more sportbike left in me so I bought my 1125(Peggy).All you can do is ask him to keep his gear on and pray for the best.Sometimes the only thing that can erase the problems I have is having to worry about not wadding up my bike.I scare myself and realize I have other things to worry about.I don't do this all the time but when I need it it helps.I know this sounds sick but I would rather cash in on my bike than in a place doing drugs trying to get my fix.Sometimes I just have to let go and skydiving is too far away.I fire up Peggy and we get out and about and if I live I can make it.I think there is a difference between trying to impress people and seeking a piece of mind.Maybe tell himm to save that stuff for mental reasons and ride like a white man for the rest of the time. There is a time and place for everything;I have been down four times down on the street.Good gear!

Gosh. That's bad luck old chum. Thank goodness for crash pucks.

Iman,

I read this thread this morning, and I've been thinking about it all day, wondering what I would do if I had a friend that rode like a dink.

I've decided that after having a good talk with him, I don't think I would ride with him anymore. Even if it's a ton of fun to ride with him, I would stay away just because I wouldn't want to be around when my friend got killed doing something stupid.

If your buddy crashes again, not only would he be hurting himself, but the trauma on you would be immense. You might witness your friend's death or maiming.

I don't like trauma like that, and if a friend of mine was continuously putting himself into a position to hurt himself, after talking to him about it, I would have to stay away.

I had been riding for six years when one of my close buddies, Victor, got killed in 2001. He was a 23 years sober vietnam vet who was riding his Harley with no helmet and worked with other vets trying to get clean.

He was hit by a teenage girl driving a delivery truck while on her cell phone. The worst part was that he died a very slow and painful death and had a daughter and wife of his own.

They removed a third of his left brain lobe because of the damage done to it. He had a crimson "Z" shaped scar above his left ear. This caused this 220 pound big guy to turn into a wiggling and slobbering pile of flesh in a coma while he held on for ten weeks before losing the battle.

I had been on the back of his bike three days before with him. Fortunately for me I was not there when the accident happened. The thing that blew my mind the most was all his MC Club buddies keep riding with no helmet.

I moved up north a few months later and sold my Yamaha 750 SECA and almost quit riding altogether... then the bug hit me hard the next year and I got my dream bike... my Buell M2L. I decided Victor would not want me to give up my passion of riding since he enjoyed it so much... however, I started wearing ATGATT... well 95% of the time.

I am going to do it 100% this year and invest in some better gear I think once I get a few paychecks behind me. You never know who will be next...

The gear definitely saves your ass, no pun intended. When I got hit in Dec it would had been much worse if I hadn't had my riding jacket on. The left sleeve was shreaded rather than my arm. Didn't stop my leg from breaking but could have been worse.

For the helmet, I always wear mine. My father-in-law is a retired Fire Fighter. He doesn't wear a helmet while riding. I asked why and he stated he'd seen just as many broken necks with helmets as without. But when I tank slapped my bike a few years ago, the helmet kept my teeth in my mouth!
