Jerry,

Like Blake said, I was not hating on them.

If the SP episode had not aired I would have not had that thought previously. The fact that it happened two days after I saw the episode is what made it funny to me, that's the word that kept popping up in my head. I never said anything other than 'you're welcome' as they rode by.

Both my Buells have stock pipes, however, my VROD has aftermarket pipes, so I guess I'm a FAG too....

My Buell has a loud pipe.
Been riding Harleys so long, I recognize that Easyrider above.

I laffed my a$$ off watching that episode.

Y'all enjoy the Marine Corps Birthday today.

At the Factory Ride, my V Rod was the most quite bike in the Factory parking lot.

I must be one of the only guys here that only thought it was mildly amusing. You guys hyped it up too much, I guess... I was expecting more. I like pretty much every Butters/Doctor Chaos episode better than this one. Or the Lord of the Rings one... that has to be one of the best ever, where Butters finds his dad's porno rental and the kids go on a quest to return it while in full costume.

My biggest struggle with the local HD crowd is that I can't talk about motorcycles with many of them. If I bring up a cool model from any other mfg I just get a blank stare. Not to mention being told that "Buells are yuppie bikes", which just drives me nuts.

Spatten, I get more or less the same reaction trying to talk Harleys to sportbike riders.

It's too bad that simply being in the wind on a motor - any motor - isn't always good enough to "make the grade."

Ferris you need to take a half hour and watch that episode its amusing we all get stung you know my X1 is LOUD I laugh at it and my self particulary the "blubb-blubb" scenes, its all toung and cheek.

Hex / and who ever the ohter one was,
A cautionary

the only tail light to be seen is you seeing Ferris's in a contest on a twisty road unless you have some serious track time and are GOOD.

I have followed the man on my X1 this I will state, You will have your work cut out for you trying to stay with him,

I was behind him on the dragon on a wet day some time ago, he reached the other end and was out of his gear waiting on the rest of us

yeah he's got the skills ........

and OH Ferris, if the Contest were to ever come about and you need a buell there is an X1 or an 1125R at your disposal

sorry jerry , i did not call you a FAG . you really need to watch the episode to get the picture. basically the show is picking on the straight pipe,(making noise just to make noise) look at me, motorcycle riders. unfortunatly most harley riders fit this stereotype. btw, i would love to ride with someone of your caliber .

Thx Oldog, that's a tempting offer. I don't have any seat time on the new water-motors, and would love to see/feel what the fuss is about. Heck, maybe I'd dig it enough to re-earn my "Ferris Bueller" moniker? : )

Cycleaddict, no worries, but thank you, and I'm sure it'd be a hoot to spend a day carving up some twisties with you. We're near the Parkway, near the VA/NC line - please give a shout if you ever find yourself pointed this way.

I do disagree with your comment that "most Harley riders fit this stereotype," but your point is well taken, and I agree 100% that someone making "excessive" noise on their bike is a detriment to our sport.

OK, here's my fag story: Denise and I were out on the Road King on Sunday, sniffing out new roads down on the Piedmont in northwest North Carolina. Gorgeous day! We're stopped at a gas station fueling up and a pack of bikes pull in, some making truly "excessive" noise, obviously just making a statement.

There were three bikes in particular that were the most heinous. One was a Sportster with drag pipes, and he needed an etiquette lesson to be sure.

But the other two "worst offenders" were guys riding drag-piped Yamaha cruisers of some description. I'm not trying to excuse the Harley rider, but a drag-piped metric bike just sounds awful (and awful loud).

And, I confess, not even having watched the SP cartoon, I wanted to call them all fags.

So maybe I'm the biggest hypocrite of all.

I really think we should start a support group...

I would have laughed just as hard if they included squids in the episode. In fact I was disappointed when they didn't... that's another target rich environment.

Imagine a South Park episode of "superbikes". I've tried to watch that two or three times when nothing else is on... and spend the whole time amazed at how stereotypical and silly the whole thing is. I'd have thought it was a joke if I hadn't known better.

I had a loud pipe on my XB9SX for about 6 months before I pulled it back off and went back to stock. So I'm a recovering FAG ; ). And I took an unplanned dirt excursion (didn't fall over, but that was more luck then skill) trying to follow a WERA racer on a GSXR-750 with race rubber on the street when testosterone got the best of me. So I guess I'm a recovering SQUID as well.

Laughing at yourself is the first step to recovery... Let the healing begin! : )

Just dont say its steam powered ( I did and it promptly broke by springing a leak. )}

We held a 9-event BattleTrax National Championship in 2003. The poster for the series (partially shown here) featured Jose Q. on his S3. I still remember him being able achieve lean angles that would put others on their face. Remember, the speeds at these events were generally in the 25 to 35 mph range. (p.s. the pix was taken by Mike Yasovsky)

...and as far as pipe noise is concerned, I've yet to hear a Harley that was more annoying than a Buell fitted with a Kendon system.

Reg, the loudest bike I have ever heard outside of the drag strip was a 1125R at last years Homecoming. My God was that thing loud. We could not talk in the parking lot while that thing was on. It sounded great just way to loud for me to ride to work everyday.

That is a great picture.

Despite the SP episode I for one am glad to be in the company of people like Mr Jerry_haughton. Two wheels and a motor is all you need.

Amen, Skinner.

Ride a few years and the one thing that you learn is that "real riders" can be found in the saddles of any and all makes and models.
Harley has its share of poseurs, but as a percentage I don't think they outnumber those on sportbikes.

Wow Frank, thank you very much. The feeling is mutual. I hope you've had an enjoyable Veteran's Day, and thank you for your past service to our country.

Reg, maybe we can hijack this thread a little further: Do BattleTrax events still take place?

Hey . . . are Cushman riders fags too?

This is distressing.
