First HD puts an Austrian made engine (which in turn is owned by a French company) in an American made Buell. Then HD kills Buell off completely, now we have no USA made sport bikes.

And now a guy from Japan wins World Series MVP, playing for the Yankee's no less.

What is happening here Blake?? What is a middle aged, right wing, white guy going to do now?

There is just no justice.

There, fixed it for ya, BRP is a Canadian company based out of Mtl.

No, you missed his Anglo slap at French-Canadians. In keeping with his "middle-aged, right-wing, white guy" perspective.

If you truely want to know what's wrong with America, watch the History Channel's episode on AirForce One.

I have never, ever, seen such up front, outright gluttony than what goes into the "pagantry" of AF1.

Why is someone with a screen name of "Toronto" so concerned about America being (gasp) international?
Buy a Fischer. Oh, wait, Hyosung engine.
Buy an Indian. Oh, wait, vastly overpriced toy motorcycle for the rich to cruise to coffee shop on.
Next thing you know, they'll be foreigners in the National Hockey League!
If Rotax/BRP really were French, maybe that's where I'd draw the line!

What is South Park?

I am a (late), middle aged white guy, and I don't know anything about it.

Oppss. Maybe I shouldn't be admitting to that. Sounds like a show on the Television.

Watching South Park now on the internet.

No sure what to think just yet.

I guess you can watch it on Televison too, right?

Seems like there are a bunch of trouble makers on Harleys. Kind of like the middle age white guys around here who go on charity rides.

That would not include me.

Too Cheap. And I don't like riding at 30 mph.

I do have a Harley though.

All I need is the goatee, the half hat and the attitude, I guess.

And the chaps, of course.

Gotta think it over.

Technically Canada is American, so is Argentina. The problem there is that United Statesian doesn't quite roll off the tongue. That is one of the many reasons the world hates us, we just assume ourselves to be American and eff the other American countries.

Continue "clinging to" guns and religion! joker

Six RBI's in game six. If Hideki-san hadn't been awarded MVP, I'd have protested. I'm a fan.

Of all the places I've traveled, Japan is one of my favorites. The people are wonderful. I'll always remember fondly the CEO of Toshiba visiting Kilgore, TX to thank me personally and my team for delivering on-schedule the earth station antennas for the Government of Japan MPT Space Monitoring program. These were first of their kind, carbon fiber panels, multi-band, monopulse tracking, fully automated control interfaces, and provided performance that exceeded requirements.

As to the topical question, "What is wrong with America?"... Too many crooks, fools and idiots with too little to do, all on the public dole, never having had to actually perform accountable productive work to earn a living, looking to take control of energy, health care, banking, the automotive industry and unfortunately they are in a position to achieve some of those goals.

The solution? Keep telling the truth and asking the tough questions. Vote the crooks, idiots, and fools out of office.

Quote from Chris Rock several years ago:

quote:

You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon.' Need I say more?

Daylight savings time.. That's what wrong with America! I hate that shit!

It was a communist Norwegian Minister of Health and Human services (I call him commie because he got his education in Russia) that enacted this daylight savings time in 1961. His name was Karl Evang (close to Karl Marx)

Who the hell needs DAYLIGHT SAVINGS time in Norway??? It was just a ploy to control us.

There IS no frikking daylight there in the winter. None to save. The people wised up and it was stopped the year after. However the rest of EU picked up on the idea so Norway was back on the bandwagon in 64.

Here ends the history lesson in the sorry assed topic we call daylight savings time. Ok, I better simmer down.

Skinstains is right, geographically speaking.
Canada, The USA, & Mexico, are all part of the North American continent.
Politically, I don't think the Canadians or Mexicans wish to be called American any more than the Americans want them to be.

Ozzie,

Daylight Savings predates that story a bit.

I will loan you my copy of "Seize the Daylight" - and yes, there actually is a novel-length book on the evolution of daylight savings time and how often (and why) it's been changed.

...and I still HATE it.

Bankers, stockbrokers, corporate executives(who have never been on the shop floor).Especially, corporate executives who argue against "big" government and then come cap in hand asking the government to bail them out and then give themselves giant bonuses with the bailout money. People who assume that because something isn't explicitly forbidden by law that its ok to do without applying any moral or ethical judgement. Corporations(like HD)who can't, won't or don't know how to invest in the future.

>>>corporate executives who argue against "big" government and then come cap in hand asking the government to bail them out and then give themselves giant bonuses with the bailout money.

Good point . . . let's look at one of the worst.

 Michelle

quote:

In 2002, Michelle Obama was hired by the University of Chicago Hospital as its "Executive Director for Community Affairs" at a salary of approximately $120,000.

In January of 2005, Barack Obama was sworn in as a United States Senator.

In March of 2005, Michelle Obama was promoted to "Vice President for Community and External Affairs" and her salary bumped nearly $200,000 (from $121,910 to $316,962). This position was "newly created" for Mrs. Obama.

In February of 2006, Barack Obama requested a $1 million earmark for a new hospital pavilion at the University of Chicago.

Effective 9 January 2009, Michelle Obama resigned her position at UCH.

Effective 14 January 2009, Michelle Obama's VP position was eliminated, its functions absorbed into another executive's position. This prompted writer Don Rose to ask "; [If] that work can be folded into another guy’s, why was it separate in the first place?"

Excellent question. Some roguish wags might speculate that a quid pro quo arrangement was in effect; pay-to-play as it were. But that seems highly unlikely given Barack Obama's high ethical standards *.

* Ignoring, of course, Auchi, Ayers, Blagojevich, Jarrett, Jones, Rezko, etc.

Does lack of scruple seems pervasive amongst the rich and powerful? Are they out of touch with the standards which most Americans apply to their everyday lives?

The really great thing is that given these circumstances that exist in SOME businesses the market works. Companies with poor management and no practical experience (running a motorcycle company but don't own or ride a motorcycle) eventually perish. The death of these companies creates room for new companies to be born and grown in their space.

If you don't like the company you work for, create one you do like to work for.

What EVERY "labor" person should be worried about is laws enacted that make it difficult for you to go out and create a business for yourself.

One of the wealthiest people I know never finished the 8th grade. He worked the floor at the Ford Glass Plant here in town. He decided he didn't want to make more money. He got his insurance license and began to work in the insurance industry. He worked hard and became one of the best sales guys at that company. The company he worked for had financial problems, and he had made enough money that he was able to buy the company.

He was able to turn that company around, grow it, and then to sell it.

He paid his "fair share" of taxes along the way.

The laws being passed today will make it more difficult for someone like Don to do what he did. The laws being passed today will make it more difficult to YOU to do what he did.
