So who else besides me has been looking into the other brands to see what's out there?

If so, what do ya like? I've been looking at the r1 and the Duc 848.

Obviously, I'm thinking more of a down the road purchase, as if you're in the market right now, no deal better than a Buell.

I remain optimistic. If I have to make a new purchase in the years coming it won't be an inline four. Most likely a Duc.

Even so...I remain optimistic.

In about two years I was going to buy a Uly. Now, I'm not sure. Maybe a Triumph or a BMW sport touring model.

I'll keep my 1125R since it's the last of it's kind. Besides, it's resale wont be squat in two years time.......this actually works in my favor because it will justify to my wife why I want to keep it.

I might try and pick up a used xt in a next year or so. If not ill continue to run my m2. Nothing else out there really strikes me.

I was thinking Ducati, then I stopped and thought - I plan on keeping mine forever so I don't think I'll need another and if I do, I'll just pick up another used Buell as I don't need to be on the "pulse" of technology. I rather enjoying being the odd wheel, the black sheep within the general herd.

I called a dealer here in California and he said the price for an 1125r was 8,000. I have wanted one but even at these prices I'm not jumping on it because I love my Firebolt. I can imagine if I had both bike I think I would still want to just ride the Firebolt, so I'm not buying the 1125r. I have the cash right not but If I'm not buying one right now at these prices I know now that I will never own a 1125.
If I do buy a new bike it will probably be a Ducati or Aprili. I like bought to those.

Oh and I know I would be stuck with the Firebolt because what is the market price now? 1,500 dollars!

I am not planning on buying a new bike. I like my modified XB12Sr too much.

I must say that I am very impressed with the original model Ducati 999s, but I don't see me buying one.

I have to admit I went to a sportbike shop last weekend just to look around. Mostly wanted to look at gear, especially helmets. But I did look at the Ducatis, and the Kawasaki Concourse (blame Peter Egan). The whole time I kept thinking "This is where Buells should be sold!" As for my next bike, who knows. It will be a long time before I sell my XT, if ever. But when Erik and company are back, I'll be watching.

Yeah, I too was a duc dealer yesterday, just killin time before a concert, and buells should be sold next to triumphs, ducatis, bmw's etc. And nothing appealed to me. Ive decided to save my cash and wait to see what Erik comes up with next.

I was at the dealership yesterday to pick up a new pair of gloves, and they had a new XR1200 on the floor. I really liked it. Unfortunately, I still did not know about H-D pulling the plug on Buell. Later that evening, when we were out running our dogs, one of the techs told me about the memo they received on Thursday. At that point, the only reason I would buy anything from H-D would be due to my loyalty to Lethbridge Buell-Harley Davidson, a stellar dealership who supported the Buell name and always had models on the floor even though I was "The Buell Guy" (singular) for years. And as I always told Barry, the owner of the dealership,'.. once these things start winning races, they'll sell themselves.' And they did.
If I were to buy another machine right now, it would in all likelihood be one of the floor models they still have in stock. I know that the resale value may be tenuous, but I gotta look at it this way: If I had the chance to board the way-back machine right now and buy a new Studebaker Avanti, I 'd do it in a heartbeat.

Why not keep your Buells?

What's driving this knee-jerk neophilia?

these are good motorcycles, let's think abut keeping them running strong.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about this same question a while ago, & do you know, there's nothing out there at the moment that lights me up, not a thing, not even a 1125.
I love the STT & the M2 should be back on the road next year, so I'm perfectly happy with the 2 Buells.
If I won the lottery I'd probably buy a big cruiser tourer, probably a Rocket 3, but only because it's a big mofo that would stomp my Harley riding friends.

My next bike will be a Yamaha TW200, pit bike and learning bike for the next generation little hooligans. I got my 081125R yesterday, so I'm good on the Buell front with a LSR S2, the FBRAT Uly and the new 1125R.

I can't really afford another bike, and the X1 is not for sale, but...

I've been thinking about a red lobster 1125CR for a while, pretty much an hour after I saw the first pics in 2008, but in the last few months I've been checking out other brands just to compare what's around. Bikes I'm currently interested in include BMW F800R, used BMW K1200R, crossplane R1, and the one I really want to test ride, an Aprilia Tuono R (most directly comparable bike to an 1125CR I can think of).

H-D shutting down Buell has triggered a bit of a re-think though, making me think how much I like Buells, and the spirit behind them. I currently have three thoughts -

1. Wait a year or two and see what Erik and the Elves do next.

2. I've only had a very brief ride on a CR, but I've done a 180° change of heart - now I want a black one! : )

3. There is a demo 2010 XB12Ss in translucent black at the dealer, probably one of the only 2010's in the country. An all black "last of the XB's" would make a good garage partner to my all white "last of the tubers" X1 White Lightning... : D

I had been considering a Uly even more since the 2010 model came out with the comfort kit. But since everything has happened my thoughts have changed. I almost went bought a 1125R yesterday but at this time in my life my money is not the best and the insurance on the 1125R is high. But most likely this time next year I will purchasing a new bike. As far as what that bike will be. I am really leaning towards the Concours 14. It seems like they have addressed some issues and concerns. Plus I think that bike is dead sexy. I wish I could get the 1125R but money is just to tight at the moment.

Yami got the nod for my dirt needs. No surprise since the Rooster has been dead 2 years now.

This winter will be fabbing up some Mt bike trail hybrids with small displacement motors.... something to terrorize the skate parks and forest trails. Think along the lines of the Scorpa 4-Tricks (another fun bike I cant get anymore)

Well a Buell of course, or whatever the new company name might turn out to be. I've considered buying "one of the last" but would prefer to hang on to my money at the moment, so when the new co. is formed I can support by buying their product, instead of giving money to HD, our Buell affectionate sponsors are the exception to that though...
