At this point, we need someone who has a connection with the factory to give them a call and get permission to show up and do this.

I would hate for us to all take off work, drive our respective distances, and be asked to leave.

I don't know who to call, or I would.

We have just over a week to put it together, and I'll work my ass off to make it happen, but we need someone who has some connections to make a call or two.

My vision is a parking lot full of roaring Buells, all in a simultaneous burnout. Can you imagine that scene? THAT would be a tribute. Also, serving lunch to them would be an honor.

Tom Bumpus emailed me and said he would be speaking to Jon Flickinger on Sunday.

I should know more next week.

Thanks to Tom for stepping up to help.

I have 2 dogs, 2 kids, 1 wife and 2 gerbils. I can stash people in the basement and in the living room. So, we can take quite a few.

Just as long as you don't trash the place, Barb would kill me the day after. =)

I'm looking forward to seeing how this shapes up. Might be time for an Iron Butt ride.

"We would leave it better than we found it..."

That's the way I've always been, from camping to LIFE in general.
Sounds like most folks here too.

Doing errands today, I keep thinking about the upcoming ride.
Some dread at the distance, but so much excitement at the unknown and expectations of seeing friends again.

Dave (Jammin_joules on the Uly boards) may ride out with me.
I've got him busy seeing if they can get me on an 09 XT.

Zack

There is no way in hell tht H-D will giver permission for this. I would not be th least surprised to see the road that goes right up to the factory being closed that day.

That I doubt that they can pull off closing down the highway that runs a half block away. Park on the shoulders. Walk in.

Consider it approved.

I sent a message to the factory saying a bunch of owners were considering showing up, showing support, maybe cooking lunch...and this is the response I got:

Hi Joe,

I forwarded this message to Flick and he's OK with it. Carry on!

Sorry if this note is brief, but I'm exhausted and running out of things to say......

I've left out the name of the person I contacted...but suffice it to say, we're good to go.

Guess I need to put in for the time off!

Hi Mark,

Joe Goetz also sent me a message regarding a ride to the factory on the 26th. I ran it past *** ********** and he's OK with it.

I don't know what to say either. It's a very sad and emotional time for the entire Buell family...

Yes... we are good to go!

Sweet!

Tom Bumpus is going to talk to Flick on Sunday.

I just spoke with Fatty B, and he can't make it due to business travel.

I'm going to get with Tom and Barker and see if they are interested in making the run up. Heck, I'd be more than happy to pitch in for lunch and help do the cookin'.

I just ordered a 2010 rear wheel for my Uly from American Sport Bike. Gonna re-waterproof the Aerostich this weekend.

Hopefully the stars will align to allow it...

What about serving them pizza from a local joint or something like that. Less set up and prep and its ready when they are.

I am sure that the folks at Buell will welcome you with open arms. Not sure the H-D folks will be all that happy about it.

Any body want to contact the local tv stations? Thsi would be a natural for them.

The ride to the factory seems like it would be a VERY good thing to post on Buell's Facebook page, if it's not premature.

As big as Badweb is, there are plenty of Buell riders than hangout elsewhere like buellitinboard, Sport Twin, or maybe they don't have a Buell forum "home" at all. The more people that get the word, the better.

I've been conversing a little bit with Jon Flickinger. He'd rather we all show up around 2:00PM on Monday the 26th. We'd catch the most employees that way.

Getting pretty cold up here in the Great White North of Central MN (yes, it's white already), however I might be able to pull this off with the misses and my work schedule.

Thinking of committing a sin and pulling a chromer (trailering the bike) to the area or at least out of the permafrost, then riding from there. Again, I gotta line some stuff up, but I'd be willing to split gas with anyone along the way who'd want to join in--PM me if you're on the way and interested.

For those of you asking about meeting plans.

INITIAL MEETING AT HAL'S AT 10:00 AM

From there it's still up in the air... but my idea would be:

Meet and Greet for about an hour.
Then take a nice ride led by a local (Steve?) for maybe a couple hours?
Then meet at the factory around 1:00?
Have food ready to go by 2:00 when they are shift changing / lunch breaking.

Thoughts guys?

It's all good with me. Everyone needs to contact all the Buellers they know and tell them about this. The more that participate the better.

You don't have to ride your bikes.

I don't have a freakin' clue on how I can do it. There are a multitude of reasons why I can't. However...
Todd; you got room in your garage for another red XT?
If there's any way I can pull it off, I'll be there.
I have to think real hard.
