I have one seriously pissed off 9 year old right now. He said (and I quote, I am NOT making this up)...

quote:

Harley shut down Buell? That stinks! Now I am going to have to buy a ninja, and that bike isn't that good and is a really bad choice for a new rider"

(He makes fun of people that ride without good gear as well ; ) He is a smart kid. )

I think I'll take the 9sx, put a couple more years on it... that'll bring it to about 50k miles. Then I'll pick up a used XT cheap for me, and put the 9sx on mothballs. When he can restore the 9sx, he can ride it.

A damn shame though. He will grow up riding Hondas and Kawasakis... and we won't sneak out of bed late on Friday nights anymore (don't let Mom see you) to watch Buells trading paint on the Speed Channel... : (

I had plans to buy an 1125CR this coming summer, with the thought that someday I will retire to an HD product. No more. I'm thinking a new Aprila, and someday I will likely ride off into the sunset on a Victory product.

Trust me, HD will be receiving receipt copies for both bike purchases, to remind them of the lost revenue.

Maybe a Dorsoduro would be a good Uly replacement.

Under $10,000 even.

I will continue to buy used Buells if I have to. I cant imagine feeling the way I do with any other bike.

Now I know what the Indian owners felt like when Springfield shut down in 53. I can keep the M2 running forever and I might have to get her a roommate.

What brand of bike would you be moving to?

So when Buell closes it's doors does my bike disappear????

CRAP no one warned me about that!?!?!

I tell you what, I am going to do my damndest to keep the Buell name alive, well, afloat and running here in the greater Detroit Area!

If Kenny Dreer can do it with Norton I am sure a few of us Buell nuts can make it work ...

Most of us know Erik, factory peeps, Court, etc personal so the network has a base, now we just need to build up.

You can jump ship but I will be damned if I am going to let this bring my Buell enthusiasim down one ioda!

See you on the 26th!

I was thinking this was theoretical. Such as say your bike is stolen or wrecked and you can no longer get a Buell to replace it with.

I'm with Spiderman. I can't think of another bike that I'd want to ride right now more than my Ulysses or the old hot rod Cyclone. There is nothing that I can see that will prevent either from living on nearly indefinitely. But maybe I'll pick up a new 2010 and put it in long term storage too.

I hear that the twin O2 sensors really make a difference.

I know I have a problem when I have to think about it for awhile.

Well I'm still thinking and I have no immediate answer. It would have to be something out of the ordinary, something sporty. Maybe a Triumph....or an Ape? I don't know.

It's an easy choice if Buell is still in the picture. But if they're not, the second guessing and doubt creep in.

I am not going to read all the posts by people who define their lives by their Buells. I hope and expect that Erik will find another way. Harley is a business, not a group of enthusiasts. That's the difference.

Am I shocked? Yes....Whatever.

I will probably switch from buying a brand new Buell and make a change to a brand-pre-owned Buell instead

I fail to believe that The Indian Motocycle Company can be resurrected 47 times and this is the end-all for BMC.

Erik's way is better than Harley. I really hope and expect that he will keep on. You KNOW he will succeed on his own, now that he is established. Westwind revisited. I'm there.

All the other bikes I've owned have been orphans. I'm sure independent shops like American Sport Bike and the aftermarket will step up and allow me to keep mine, and any others I purchase in the future, going strong.

I really NEED a dedicated dirt bike if I am going to preserve the CityX in a continued functioning operating manner.
