What brand of bike would you be moving to?

I don't really want anything from the Big Four.

I'm not really a Ducati guy.

I can't afford a KTM.

BMWs are fugly and over priced.

Moto Guzzi?

Triumph?

Will Britbike.com be getting a large influx of bitter Buell people?

Is this the new S?

I now understand the ire of the Blastard. : |

I'm going to keep on with what I have and pick up tons of spares as people abandon the brand I love. Maybe start building stuff like this- I love this bike....

I'd go to Triumph. I really the like Thruxton and the Daytona 675. They are reasonably priced as well.

I test rode a Concours and liked it but I think I will keep riding Buells. There is no need for me to buy the latest bike out there. My S2-T does me fine.

I ran into a couple of guys I ride with today that could not wait to tell me about Buell and see what I thought. They ride Nortons, Triumphs (the old ones) and Indians. I think they could see the pain in my face. They parted with "Welcome to the Club, any Buell is welcome to ride with us."

I think they said something derogatory towards HD but these are the kind of people that build and restore bikes and they have little respect for anyone that cannot do a topend job on their bike.

Odie- I agree that Websurfer is sweet even without the wood seat.

Triumph if I went with something new. Maybe Ducati but as of right now my XT is not going anywhere and I will be parts hording I think. Would love to get a CR with a warranty but can't afford it right now.

Hope to have a "Buell" choice in the future. Maybe a Can-Am or Victory sport tourer designed by a team of former HD employees. : )

i have been pondering that same question all day fatty! when the day comes to get a new bike what the hell would i get?....... i can't think of anything that really gets me excited other than a Buell. the triumph's are ok but they just don't speak to me. i can't think of anything out there that has the character and soul that a buell does. not to mention the family that comes with it.

damn the more i think about it the more it just pisses me off. i already had my next bike picked out. i had planed on getting a CR and putting the lightning tale on it. but by the time i will be ready to buy one i am sure they will be gone. Have i mentioned this Blows!

After years of low maintenance shaft and belt drives, there's no way I could go back to a chain. I can think of only one manufacturer that makes sporty shaft driven bikes.

I might have an R1200S in my future. I'd rather NOT have two BMWs, but I don't seem to have much choice.

The other option would be a megascooter. Something like the T-Max or the Burgmann.

<sigh>

Right now I'm too bummed to think clearly.

I'm not a Ducati fan either but I lust over just about every Aprilia I see. Too bad they're too expensive.

I would probably go with either Triumph or Kawasaki. A Daytona 675 or a KLR 650.

No sense trying to find something that moves my soul. With exception to the Aprilia RSV4, there's just no motorcycle that gets me all giddy inside like a Buell does so I'll shop for practicality.

I would wish HD a great misfortune and much pain and suffering for their horrendous act of treason except that there's a lot of good people that work for them and rely on their paychecks and they don't deserve to suffer for the company's genocidal tendencies.

So all I can do is never buy anything HD ever again.
It won't hurt the company one bit but I'll feel better about myself not giving them my $$$.

I already made my move; I just picked up an '02 Suzook TL1000R. Think of it as a heavy 1125R or an easy-to-maintain Ducati.
I've always wanted one, the torque is great and the deep rumble from the Yoshi exhausts is incredible. V-twin sportbikes rule!

My M2 is my one and only Buell I wanted. I will keep it running forever if I can. Next bike will probably be something I build myself, I think Erik would be ok with that.

I'll just maintain my obsession with orphaned tubers and piecing them back together. Sportster parts will always be available : )

I'd look at triumph pretty hard,I went to a track day where the new BMW[ridden by Nate Kern]was featured and it looked like a great bike for+$13,000.

Been thinking about that all day. I really like the looks of a Monster, or maybe a street DRZ. But nothing can replace my Buell.

Assuming the death of Buell is complete and permanent...

Would not be a smart assumption IMO.

Erik's been on the ropes before. Until he comes out & publicly says, "That's it, I'm done. No more motorcycles EVER." I'll keep the candle lit & bide my time.

If I have to replace my 1125R before he's got a replacement available, I'm sure I can find something to tide me over.

I bought a new 09 XB12XP this afternoon at San Diego Harley. Out the door (minus siren, police lights, and flashers) with taxes, license, setup for four figures. HD is giving cashback incentives to the dealers so that the inventory can be sold quickly. HD will stand by the warranty and parts should be available for seven years. Now is the time to buy a Buell!

Fatty... whats going to happen to the Buell salesmen? Are you going to be thrown under the rug and be told to find another job along with the Elves, or will they retain you and start selling 1/2 ton bar stools?

I'm a Buell rider, and thats just gonna be how it stays for quite a while. I was infected with the passion years ago and it has evolved into a full blown sickness!!

Thanks Erik, can't wait to see where you go from here!

Once I can, I'm probably getting a KTM 690.

I'm definitely NOT getting rid of the S1. After all these years I finally have it as I envisioned building it from the start.

My 2000 M2 Cyclone was my first and only bike. I couldnt even think of parting with it, even if it didnt run. I ride mine until I cant anymore and then Ill go from there. Im not gonna bash HD, but they've left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Funny, the "Hump Day Question" thread last week asked this same question in a different way: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/501976.html?1255006136

Not as much fun now, is it?

Ducati's aren't all that hard or expensive to maintain. My 1198s has proven that already.

I am a "returning" rider. I had 3 Suzukis, ( from old & slow to fastest bike there was ) and liked them all, 1 Yamaha triple, ( good bike but delicate ), 1 Kawasaki 2 stroke triple. ( they kill their owners ) The kawi got donated to an Abate/Hells Angels event. buck a whack, but I rode it into a pond first. ( real dialog..."you can't ride that in here." "I heard you have a pond?" "That way.." ) Got good air.

I'd heard of Buell, seen a few mentions, and read the Cycle World article, but I always thought them too pricey for my working class wallet. One day, I'm watching racing with a buddy, Buell gets a mention, and I comment how I'd always wanted one, supposed to be the best handling bike, and I no longer cared about doing 150+. ( must be getting older or smarter? ) My bud just looked at me, said, "you've been wanting one for years, you aren't married, go down and try one, if you like it buy it." I did.

Buttercup ( my '01 Cyclone ) may be the last bike I ever buy, and the first one I ever bought new. If it gets destroyed, and I outlive it?.....

Triumph Speed Triple, Ducati Monster, maybe, just maybe, whatever Suzuki has in a V-twin. Never again a IL4, but BMW has a shot at my future wallet, but not as long as I have Buttercup.

Oh, and I'll be Watching what Erik comes up with next. It might be a bike that flies, and then I'll have a new loan payment.
