Ryker,

I am glad you were found not guilty, it shows the system (as messed up as it is) stills works, even though it cost you time, money and frustration.

The Deputy not knowing the traffic law pertaining to an out of service traffic light, that is scarry... There is no excuse for that.

As I have said, bad apples exist in law enforcement, as they do elswehere. It's just life and it sucks!

110 shots. The perp to use their words was contained? I expect law enforcement to be professionals. That includes the use of deadly force. This is excessive use of deadly force and consistent with the trend in law enforcement that is perceived as shootist. How about shooting an unarmed motorcyclist through the face shield for speeding after he was stop? That is the penalty for speeding in the richmond virginia area. By the way the investigation by the state said it was an accidental shotting. These maybe in the minority of events. They are getting the air and in the negative. LEOs need to get this under control otherwise they will continue to lose the publics support.

That statement could just as easy be applied to sportbikes...

I live in a fairly decent, law-abiding town with cops and court folks who actually try to do right. Despite that, they gave a guy a ticket for riding a moped with a revoked D.L. and the guy was convicted as a habitual offender and spent 30 days in jail.

OK, read it again. The cop, the judge, the prosecuting attorney and the defense attorney were not aware that it is LEGAL to ride a MOPED without a license providing you are over 16. The guy later fought to get the conviction off his record, and the prosecutor fought that!

Unfortunately, the legal system is run by humans. That means mistakes, over-reaction, indifference and corruption are just waiting to happen

Anyone that lives on the West Coast of Florida that travels between Tampa and Naples KNOWS to avoid North Port...notorious for bogus tickets, they annexed part of the highway that is a few miles from the town and put in inside their city limits then put their cops on the highway to ticket, my neighbor is a cop, needless to say we don't talk often, but he did tell me that North Port Cops have pulled over his Sarasota Cops driving home in police cars and given them speeding tickets...I kinda laughed at that actually, I have never been pulled over there, but I did get followed through N Port the day I bought my XB12R, the dealership I bought it from (where I used to work) is sixty miles south of me, so I road the back roads rather than the highway home, followed me the whole way through town...strange place, anyway the Attorney General filed some charge against the town about their ticketing practices, I read that much in the paper, after that it disappeared and I don't know what became of it....I am sure everywhere in the world where there are traffic laws has a town notorious for being a speed trap. Canyon City Colorado, Hutchinson Kansas, North Port Florida, I am sure most everyone on this board could name a town that does that...Marked Tree Arkansas..bad one there....

Hwy 301 in Florida bewteen Gainesville and I-10 has three towns that are notorious speed traps, Waldo, Lawtey and another (I can't remember the name). These towns are listed in AAA as such.

I am NOT a fan of what these towns were/ are doing. Same goes for North Port.

I'm a Hillbilly and I hope your stay in West Virginia will be one you can boast about; not cuss about. I will pass on the one Speed Trap I'm familiar with. Wardensville, WV located on Rt 55 and Rt 259 in the Eastern Panhandle has for years been a town with judicious speed limit enforcement. You better be doing UNDER the Posted (Sign) speed BEFORE you pass the sign. Just an old guy sitting in an old chevy along side the road --- you don't even see the red lights behind the grill.

You should be applauded for clearing the intersection not not condemned for a tire chirp. Hope you enjoy Mountain State. Our state motto is "Mountaineer are always Free."
