http://www.topix.net/forum/city/plant-city-fl/TP7F N1AETN9OCSCD8

You can state whatever you want...You can say I have no thought, ok, defend as you wish to see it, but the fact is....
Police fired 110 shots!! 110 shots again 110 times for ONE MAN...revenge sir..that is the deal. One thing I must fix though apparently 110 shots net you only 68 that hit him...sorry my amounts were inaccurate..those guys need to go the range..ok...I have antagonized you enough..

I need more cowbell!!

“I suspect the only reason 110 rounds was all that was fired was that’s all the ammunition they had,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the Associated Press.

This is the link to an actual news article regarding the incident. Forums, (the link that you posted) serve an entirely different purpose. They are intended for a means of discussion of people's opinion after reading an article. They are usually not a (good) source of facts.

Dang. I thought I was the one antagonizing here.

More cow bell, dude!

Liq, I would try to argue with you -- I've got friends on PDs and covered cops for 20 years and know that most are pretty cool -- but I've also been involved with exposing or writing about abusive turds, pedophiles, embezzlers, drug addicts and guys whose uniform trousers had defective zippers. They're out there. They're real.

One reason I gave up trying to be a cop myself some 30 years ago was that I could care less if anyone was smoking something but I wanted to shoot any SOB who spat on me. Bad temper = Bad cop.

I'm not in to telling people what to do, I guess.

Oh, by the way, Eminem and Everlast rule. Ludicris is cool, but E and E are in the same class as Tom Waits.

HEY! HEY! HEY! No need to drag me into this! I didn't do anything to the cop hater.

That guy was lucky. I'm with Barker, he could have gotten away.

I get pulled over once a year or so for speeding. I have yet to receive a ticket. Don't look shady and don't give LEO's a hard time, they're just working like everyone else.

Michael Jackson or Cool & the Gang are about as hard core RAP as I go. Oh, I like Nilli Vanilli, they rap right?

The piece of garbage kills a cop, his dog and tries to kill the other cop and people like liquor are worried that he was shot too many times and if HIS rights were somehow violated. Wow, i wonder if the family of the dead officer are angry because there loved one was shot too many times.

Law Enforcement doesn't make the rules. Law Enforcement doesn't make people break the rules. Law Enforcement merely enforces the rules.

As with any other profession, law enforcement has it's bad apples.

Personally, I treat people the way I wish to be treated, until they no longer allow me to treat them that way.

As for the Polk County shooting you speak of? I won't even justify you with a response as your thought process, level of intelligence and/or rational will not allow you proper comprehension.

Dale-
Since you seem to hate police so much I figured that you'd be interested in what happened in my area today.
The motorists called in a reckless driver on a State 4-lane. An Iowa trooper caught him (he was in an suv) but got stuck in the snow so the perp drove off. The perp turned around and drove straight at the trooper who was standing outside his car.
Trooper pulls his weapon and puts several holes in the perp. Luckily the trooper wasn't seriously injured.
You'd probably have preferred that the perp won and also taken out several innocent bystanders in the meantime.

Mike,
I will never pull for the cop to win...how radical do you want me to write guys..you put words in my mouth here, so look guys you can think however you want, it's a free country...sort of..but trying to figure why I dislike them or somehow getting all offended just makes me laugh, I am concerned Concor, because if you are a civilian and your rights are violated and they pump 110 bullets into you without the due process of law..that is our way you know..due process, in the constitution, you may have heard of it although it seems to be overlooked these days...well then everyone can just do that right? Should that guys brother seek out the cops that killed his brother and pump rounds into them? Why should he wait for an investigation to find out if his brother was wrong and committed murder, or was attacked and was defending himself..see we don't know, we have a cops word, to me, as untrustworthy as the accused until it is accorded the due process and due diligence that testimony in front of our peers, being judged by our peers, you know what our legal system is suppose to afford persons accused, because of the abuses suffered to commoners on the continent BEFORE they came here, see it became part of our constitution for a reason guy, so that no one would have centralized power and therefore power was checked. It is amazing to me how many of you on this board and other places in life are so willing to give up those rights you were born with..that is the true greatness of our country my friends, my ability to dislike the police, write about it, criticize them and still be protected as a citizen with the first amendment at my side and yours...Haven't you ever wondered why people would refer to this country as the best place on earth..it's not the fishing, or the sweet tea although it should be figured in, it is the personal freedom accorded a citizen of the great nation..what many, many people died trying to get to, to protect, to establish for that manner, were it not for those before you would have no freedoms to give away..yet you do... The way many of you write, it would seem you want some Judge Dread society, where the cop is judge, jury and executioner..well that is not my idea of a good place. It never will be, that is too much power..and if you let someone get away with abuse of authority, in any manner, it is the same as letting a true criminal off without punishment as well...I am not sure if I can make it clearer than that..but I can say this..my 1989 FLHTCU has a custom stereo on it..sub woofer, 1000watts per channel, infinity speakers and last weekend I did vol 1 and 2 Marvin Gaye's greatest hits cruising east and making a loop on back roads through orange groves...sweet tunes.

most of the people I know that hate cops, don't actually know any. When people find out that I am trying to become a cop myself, I often get, "your to nice, you aren't mean enough." A girl I used to work with told me that she could not see me as a cop because she couldn't imagine me ever being angry or yelling at someone. I am a pretty laid back guy. I generally don't like stressful confrontations. Most of the cops I know have this kind of attitude. I am not saying that all cops are this way. I have met my share of "bad" cops.

I hope that if / when I get the job, those of you who "hate" cops won't think less of me, hope that I am hurt, or worse. I hope that I can still count you amoung my friends.

Don't worry D-nut. When my dad became a cop the rest of his family didn't talk to him for about four years. They said his being a cop proved that he thought he was better than they were. Go figure.

People got some weird ideas about cops. On the other hand, cops have got some weird ideas about people.

There are good people and bad people in all walks of life. Frankly I'm surprised there aren't more bad cops, given how thankless the job is. Even if you go into the job with the best intentions, you quickly realize that no one wants you around, and people make more money in a day than you make all year by writing "music" about killing you.

Personally, I've had some pretty good experiences with police. There are several in my car club, and they're all outstanding human beings. I've never been pulled over when I wasn't doing something stupid, and I've gotten off with warnings in cases where I could've easily been ticketed.

Case in point: http://www.incorrect.org/videos/Valhalla.wmv

Yes, as it turns out, it is illegal to do a burnout on private property. The cop could've given me a reckless driving ticket, but he didn't.

Hell, just last weekend I was cruising 80 in a 55 on my Uly, and a motorcycle cop came up behind me. He blipped his siren, pointed at his speedometer, and then went on his merry way after I slowed down.

That is a big part of my personal dislike Ryker..it is state sanctioned extortion..the cop writes the ticket for the extortion, and the judge and state uphold that extortion with the threat of freedom lost and "privilege" revoked..in the end, they don't really care it any lives are saved, or if justice is done..it is only about the revenues....money for the lawyer, money for the county or city, money for the cop, but the tax dollars and a mandate to extort....we did that to ourselves

While we all enjoy certain freedoms and rights in this great country, they certainly do not inlcude the follwing;

Running a red light and killing another person,

Kidnapping a 9 yr old girl, sexually abusing her and burying her alive under your house until she dies,

Consuming alcohol to the point your faculties are imparied, getting in a car and running over a motorcycle,

Killing somebody for a video game,

Physically attacking somebody because you don't like what they say,

Choosing which laws apply to you and which don't,

Kicking your spouse's head in until they become a vegtable,

etc, etc, etc...

One of the greatest freedoms that seems to be most often overlooked is the freedom to leave this country and live somewhere else in the world. If you are not happy with the "extortion" this country's founding fathers and their successors have established, feel free to leave....

Ahhh the ever present love it or leave it eh shaker? Well my friend, I have served this country, and I love this country, I love it enough to not gloss over our short comings and wrongs as well as voice what I love about it, maybe you need to re-read my posts on this thread to that effect, I will stay or leave at MY pleasure, but thank you so much for your generous suggestions...oh yeah..our founding fathers did not write the traffic laws of this country, nor did they do anything but give us a guide...of which we have tossed aside lately in the name of partisanship, religion, revenge and a superiority complex with the world..all such empires that reach this point stand on the edge of a knife, they can fail easily or return to what made them great....again thank you for your kind advice..

Eric..so sad it is still so cold up there for you all...but spring is on it's way!!!! Soon you will have day and night to ride until late fall. This weekend, 40 degrees at night, but no snow so you can still ride. alright, have a good week

I don't post much around here anymore but here goes. In the 60's Frank Zappa said my favorite quote, "America is a nation of laws, poorly written and randomly enforced, but a nation of laws" Personally I no longer hate cops the way I used to, they are just bullies looking for a fight so don't give it to them and usually they take your lunch money and go away. It's the self serving judicial/legal system that needs to be totally flushed. Since politicians are mostly lawyers do you think things will ever change?
Liq, Ryker, I agree and I like this board but it has too many government workers with nothing to do but stand up for the system that pays them overtime for killing time to argue with. Don't let em get to you, but you can't win.

PS: I have noticed since I've gotten older, I do the same things as always but don't get hasseled anymore. I figure since the average cop is maybe in his 30's they don't see this old man as a threat. So their attitude isn't so "I can kick your ass" anymore. Not that that was ever the problem since I'm smarter than that. But earlier it seemed like they prodded me to try. Just made me hate em.

Attitude toward the officer...as if that were part of the law? My exact point, find one that has not had "any" for a while or a wife that pissed him off or a woman pissed at someone else and you have yourself a ticket no matter how nice you are or what attitude you have....I agree complete BS are you still fighting this matter or is it done yet?

Well, that's the last time I'm gonna post anything like that on here. If I knew it was going to bring out all this hate, I would have never posted it in the first place.

As far as cops go (and this coming from a guy who has lost his license 3 times, has racked up more points than a skee-ball game and done various stints in the klink for random hooliganism) I don't think they are the ones to blame. It's more of a top down game.

They are simply the pawns of the powers that be, they enforce what they are told to enforce. And in today's evermore right-winged world, the soccer-moms, MADD and religious zealots are demanding more and more punishment for any one who doesn't live the lifestyle they deem acceptable.

I can remember many times in the 80's when I was caught with weed, speeding, fighting or otherwise being a dickhead, and I was given a lecture and told to go home. That doesn't fly anymore. One step over the line and off to the pokey ya' go nowadays.

But if you do come in contact with the law, having a bad attitude doesn't help your cause. You're dealing with a person under that badge, and usually a testosterone filled male in his late twenties or early thirties. If can't understand that you need to diffuse that situation, than I feel for ya'.

And Ryker, have you filed a civil lawsuit? I mean you were rear-ended, I don't think it would be hard to collect on that. I got a 15k settlement for a tap here in Philly.

just my $0.02

While I don't have the intense dislike of cops that others have -- probably because of close association with friends and family on departments -- I do understand the frustration and anger that comes from the judicial system. Fact is, there's good and bad and ugly everywhere from priests to corporate boardrooms. It's just that when the bad and ugly are cops and judges, the impact seems to be a whole lot worse.
