I'm bewildered why my above post in support of Mortarmanmikes post received four votes at two star level. What the f*ck is wrong with some of you? Whether war on Iraq was right or wrong, or the circumstances surrounding his trial be 'suspect', Hussein is dead. Few can argue with good reason he shouldn't be. Rocket |

Rocketman, there are alot of cooks in the US that no matter what good comes from Iraq they only see the negative. They are the same type of cooks for the most part that rally at our soldiers funerals to protest and cheer for their deaths. To them issues like free health care, gay marriage, animal rights and abortion trump human rights so long as the human is not gay or lesbian or black living in the US or Africa. It is no longer "cool" to appose our government on every issue. Your just doing it because the jocks picked on you in high school or you want to fit in with the "intellectuals" at college. Growing your hair, sporting a little beard and wearing hemp clothing only puts you lower on the food chain. Looking at the left whackos here its easy to understand how hitler convinced so many to help him exterminate the Jews. Freedom of speech is ok so long as it fits with their agenda. |

5 stars for you Johnny, but I think you meant "kooks". The people who prepare food for a living are innocent, mostly. I guess one could be a "kook cook" but that's another creature altogether. The socialist mindset is a disturbing trait at best. |

A lot of us who are not "cooks" or "kooks" can't see anything positive about Iraq, maybe you could point it out. As far as those who can't argue with good reason why Saddam shouldn't be dead, wait until we have to deal with Iran, who Saddam kept at bay. Support our troops! Go Army! |

He should have copped a bullet while trying to escape the day they captured him, it would have been so much tidier. |

Irans leader should be shot in the head and let the chips fall where they may. Iran as a whole though should overthrow their government and alot of the young people would like to see that happen. |

Well, at last Sean and I have found one topic on which we agree. Bye Bye Saddam. I wonder if he did the kickin' chicken?? Hey everybody, why are we slamming Sean on THIS thread? I agree that most political threads on here turn into an us/them argument, but I believe it's not so in this case. Yes, Rocket, I agree, I should drink more often...I think I'll start right away. (Did you notice I didn't even get the day of the week straight in my last post?) |

"a lot of the young people would like to see that happen" unfortunately, the same may be said for our country. There are a whole lot of cool aid drinkers out there that don't follow politics, only hear what the pundits regurgitate, and have based their votes on it. I surely wish they would watch an actual debate in its entirety. not the presidential ones, the regular sessions of congress. There is a clear difference between the thought processes of the center and the right, and that of those on the left. Nut jobs, every one of them. |

I can see no good coming from his execution but then I saw little good coming from the war. We might end up with a democratic Kurdish state in the north but that will destablish a very shaky Turkish democracy so that would not be much of a gain. The rest of the country will likely fall into a bloody civil war that will embolden Syria, Iran, Hezbollah and others to more mischief. |

"Iran as a whole though should overthrow their government and alot of the young people would like to see that happen." They did that about 30 years ago, and their current situation was the result. |

"but that will destablish a very shaky Turkish democracy" My observations while living in Istanbul in 96 and 97 is that the military keeps a fatherly like close eye on the civilian government. The country has many active political parties that draw a lot of votes, and this causes some to get elected that the majority as a whole would consider undesireable. When these elected leaders step out of line, the military will quickly move to put them back into place. |
