Hey.
I'm looking for a gentle and approved method to remove carbon inside the combustion chamber.

Not sure how bike safe it is but, I would use it. Throttle Body cleaner for cars. Just make sure you get the kind that is O2 safe.

a proven method for boat and classic car owners is to mist a little water into the spark plug hole after getting the motor warmed up.

then you crank the starter a few times to clear a bunch of the carbon away.

I tried to use a "combustion chamber cleaner" made by Mopar which I am sure is simply a relabeled throttle body cleaner. It burned off some deposit but did not really get it as clean as I wanted.

I ended up removing the heads an pistons to throughly clean them.

Of course I needed to clean the carbon because the previous owner of the bike had the carbs set up much too rich, and kept the stock exhaust and aircleaner. I was getting a lot of detonation.

I know a bunch of the car guys also use Seafoam. I'm not sure how it would work in a bike but I heard it works great in cars/trucks.
