I'm in luck Aaron, or perhaps out of it. The opportunity to use those new hollow valves has presented itself. After less than 1000 miles my latest top end refreshment has failed. There is profuse oil loss through both cylinder head gaskets. My clean, beadblast finish has now tuned into the old "burned and caked" look of usual.

Having done this now several times, not only on this bike but on other HD's, I am at a loss for what happened. I did use Cometic brand gaskets for the first time. I liked the idea of them being so thin but although sandwiched with something compressible the outer surfaces are metal. A similar type of gasket is now standard factory issue for the rocker boxes. I used those (HD brand) and they are holding tight.

In any case the motor is on its way to get opened again and the heads are going on a trip to the red state.

Jose, how can you do this to me? This is First Sunday and the weather is looking good for my first ride to the mountains!?!? Your bike sucks. Sell it and get a Tuono.

Lets go anyway, its not dead yet. I brought it to work yesterday and today. It stinks, its getting hard to start and power is down. Other than that it runs fine. Just don't go to fast I can stay with you.

I do need a new bike, or perhaps a new S&S 4 x 3.5 motor with dual carbs.

Wait a minute; isn't it going to rain this weekend?

I was just wondering if anyone knew what is the best application for an XB12 to get more useable HP for track days without killing the reliability?
