Josh...That just sucks, man...I can't imagine the angst you must be going through waiting...The only consolation, if there is one, is that the FJR is worth waiting for...

Trip...Well, I don't know about this legend stuff regarding me but Jerry is definitely a legend in our community...And how about a guy who starts a cross country trip on one moto, his viffer, and stops midway through the journey and trades it in on a V-Strom...By the way, John, Jerry was really missing his VFR and told me repeatedly that he didn't think the DL was a keeper...I kept telling him he hadn't explored the other side of the DL in that he hadn't found any bad roads yet...

>is that the FJR is worth waiting for

No it's not. Especially since there are quite a few dealers with the bikes on the floor.
I should have gotten a Duc ST4S or Futura off the floor somewhere.

Between selling the S3 to get ready for the FJR and the trouble with the RS (now over - but the RS won't do heated gear and I can't wear the 'stich on it) I got in practically no late spring/summer/ early fall riding.

Current buzz in the FJR world : the valve guides are inferior and you'll need a periodic head job. one in seven develop the problem within 10,000 miles. Yamaha knew about it 2 years ago and doesn't have a fix.

Oh jeez, don't tell John...That's strange because they have been so good at responding to the few nits that were voiced about the scooter...I do hope your's comes in soon...You and John, what with his knee and your waiting, have had about the same kind of lost summer...

Here's where you can get info on the FJR tick:
http://p083.ezboard.com/ffjr1300ownersassociationfrm2

try Warchilds three acts. (Warchild runs the BBS)

Act III has great pics and a video of the problem

Yeehaa!!!...Josh, if you get it before the weekend or even on Sat we'll all be at The Tradition Inn in Farmington MO...You could ride down either Fri and do the rally or just come down Sat for dinner and we'll find you a place to crash (oops, I should NEVER use THAT word)...The rally is $30 and just dinner is $12...

Racerboy, the VS got a new set of Two Bros. yesterday, the rear mud guard/license plate flap has been trimmed up tight, and the wheels will get polished right after Oktoberfast.

sigh, looks like i might keep it at least a LITTLE while...

Jerry...Have you had a chance to get onto some dirt or gravel roads yet with the Strom?...A couple of the guys here who have them just roost us when we get on something dirty and seem to be having a whole bunch of fun...

Have been reading and looking at the pics of the trip...Your pics are amazing...

yeah, off road a few times, pix to come eventually in the "Out of Words" thread. the bike has SO much driveline lash, and combined with touchy FI on and off throttle (plus feeling like i'm riding about ten feet above the ground) i still haven't got "used to roost" yet.

thanks for the compliment on the pix. now you know why i was always trying so hard during our portion of the ride together to get "the shot". : )

"4-8days until I pick up my FJR."
Josh Thats good news!

Now for the bad news......

All FJR's delivered after 10-1-04 will be.......
PINK, with Blue trim!!!!

I was out riding today. I figured the fuel mileage for the first time since I got it.

45.5 mpg average for the day. A combo of driving into St. Louis and then south for twisties. Highway Y from Desoto over to 30 was a lot of fun today. No traffic except for a fellow on a Harley.
The "Bluewisperjet" towed him for a hundred yards in its wake as I went by. He looked dazed and confused like he had been struck by lighting.

You want those Battle Mags?

Hey Jerry,
Hurry up and get some more pics up. Good to meet you even if it was only in passing almost. I WILL get out your way and when I do I hope to get to ride some with you. I have the bike now, if I can only get back to being able to ride for some distance.

Maybe next fall.

uh huh. Sure. You'd do that for me?
'course I picked up Jean-Michel's Sportster and put the first ~125mi on it

I am trying to plan a road trip for my first uncluttered weekend after the 600mi maint.

Maybe Denver? Dallas?

Oh, I picked up a PowerCommander cheap (relativly) but I was going to put some miles on before I tried it. Want to try it first?

3000 miles on my S1 and the tires were worn to about 1/2" of the edge.
300 miles on my FJR and the tires are worn to about 1/4" from the edge.

Josh,
I ordered a Cox Racing rad cover yesterday.
Have you already got yours?
I already have a Corbin seat but am thinking very seriously about getting a Bill Mayer this winter. I want to be able to put some miles on next year.

Got mine after 4 days and installed it Tues night (along with the Moko's)
Fits great but throw away the instructions.
Just remove the bolt at the bottom of the radiator. Slide the Cox guard on and up, it will just fit on the radiator and wedge under the horn mounts. Reinstall bolt.

733miles and I finally figured out how to work the trip meter.

I was going to complain about the transmission missing shifts, but it actually looks like I need to adjust the lever - my boot isn't letting it drop fully after a shift.

Which Corbin do you have (standard or "close" )?
I don't like the stock seat either. Maybe I'll save what's left of my piggy bank for a new seat.

Hello SLABs, I'm a new Buell owner as of last week. Black XB12R. I'm in O'Fallon, MO. Also have a 04 ZX-10R and 03 CBR600RR. I'm psyched about the Buell. I put 650 miles on it so far, and every mile has been a lot of fun. Ever been on the Earth City cloverleaf? I liked it, but the 207s were a little bummed over the deal

Next time you'e on the clover leaf take the Expressway N. Take a right at the first light (McDonalds) and continue past Rams training camp up the hill. At the top of the hill wave to my office (Cass) then continue on.
Nice road tho pretty bumpy/broken. I use it to compare the suspension on different bikes since you get several bumps while leaned over.

At the stop sign, take a right for the two sweepers.

Gas up at QuickTrip (you are now at StCharles Rock Rd and 270) then repeat your journey in reverse which is the way I go very morning.

Welcome to the crew.

Sorry, just logged on at 1100 on Sunday. Hope I get another chance soon. Got the suspension dialed in as per the weight table in the manual. TOTALLY cured some handling issues. I go about 190. Rear preload helped a lot.

Greetings from another new St. Louis Bueller. I picked up a blue '99 M2 2 months ago but didn't get to ride it much due to a serious oil leak and a busy work schedule. Got it back from Widman's last week all sorted out and I couldn't be happier with how it's running. Racerboy: While I was at Widman's, Kevin Haney told me this bike was yours not too long ago. (I saw your name while looking at profiles.) I hope to catch up with you at a ride sometime. This looks like a great forum. Steve Clough
