I see the road is named after me now.

Nance's "Grave" Road? I think Alex thinks we pummeled you to death that day and left you up there! ; )

D 'n me took some heat this past Saturday for not having photos to prove our glacier crossing up top.

Did some digging just now on ADV and came up with this (scroll down the page for several reports and additional photos, and more pix on the next page, including the obligatory photo of a guy - Nutz, in this case - peeing in the bushes):

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19 4218&page=2

But nope, no actual pix of the glacier crossing.

As such, I suggest we organize a return visit to Burke's Garden this winter and get the photo.

Dress warm, y'all.......

: )

Sure is! Been there since May 22nd. The same day Webe took me to see this:

Henderson's legs

Interestingly enough, I just called to check on it today. They got the fuel injectors recently but have to put them in and road test it and check back in with Customer Service. So far they've replaced the fuel pump (took about a month to get...) and exhaust valve actuator and adjusted the AFV and some other things with Digital Tech.

It's been gone so long I'm thinking about throwing a welcome home party for it when I get it back,

The latest update says, no dice...

"We got the injectors in and it's still doing the exact same thing. So we need to contact Customer Service again and go from there."

If it's 'homecoming' were towards the end of August it may be for the best all around (other than the CR accumulating miles like a banshee...

Hey everyone. It's been a while. I've got some sad, but somewhat good news. I'm selling my Firebolt. It's gonna be a sad day. I posted it Thursday here on BadWeb and not too long after I got a response. The young man who contacted me and wants to buy it is from Birmingham, Alabama. He said he has a friend who has a Lightning and he got hooked when his friend let him ride it. He sounds like he will take really good care of it. I'll see if I can get him to post here on the board. He wants to come pick it up here in Oklahoma and ride it back home. : )

Just got back from a short business trip to NYC. Man, is Court ever right about the PHENOMENAL architecture in that city! My pics truly show that my camera is lacking, but I'm going to share a few with everyone.

I was sent to the 29th floor of the Hearst Tower - somebody will probably be able to figure out the agency I went to visit from the address, and will likely keel over laughing... Here's the view from the lab/office I was stationed in:

Hudson River in the background - they said the buildings blocked the view of Sullies plane when he did the water landing:

Columbia Circle and some of Central Park:

Looking down from the 29th floor:

The original plan was for me to go to the Hearst Tower both Tuesday and Wednesday. Since I did all that could be done on Tuesday and it was determined that going through the effort to change my itinerary wouldn't be worth it, I had Wednesday to kick around the city and explore a little.

So for dinner Tuesday night I decided to check out a name that I've seen on BadWeB many times - the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. The New York City location being in Harlem. I didn't take any pictures of the place, but I did of the souvenir I brought back - YUM!!!

BBQ sauce

I know the reaction to BBQ in NYC is probably making everyone react like in that Pace Picante Sauce commercial, but was that ever some good, good stuff!

One day is just enough time to get a little exposure, and I made the right choice to see as much as possible in as short a time as possible by taking a bus tour. But first I had to get to Times Square - one of the few places I know that the welcoming committee is a police station:

06 TS

From the (open air, double-decker) bus:

07 TS

Rock on at the Hard Rock Cafe - with that COOL fork!

08 TS

The bull from the Financial District - gotta wonder if that guy at the rear hears the ocean, or if he's just stuck, or...

09 tour

Ground Zero:

10 tour

Even a Pegasus:

11 tour

Unfortunately it was too close to my departing flight to have checked this place out, but if/when I go back I will definitely check it out:

12 tour

13 tour

Of all the times for Court to be in LA...But I made the most out of the time I had,

I've been about 3 times I think. I've got a brother that lives up there. Cool place.

Time has come when the pain pushes me to sell my Buell.
Even after cortisone injection and daily Mobic, I can not ride my Buell without pain for more then about 50 minutes to an hour. Less as I get closer to needing another shot.
The seat is too narrow for the best gel insert mod to have much benefit.
Broke my tail bone about 4 years ago. Now the tip permanently points forward 70 degrees.
Anyway, I'll have the details up on Craig's list soon.
Got to ride a Buell for just over a year. So I am happy about that.
I'll use the money for a down payment on a new Jeep Rubicon to replace my 1993 Wrangler.
Twig knows my Buell. He saw it the first time I took it out for a ride.
2009 XB12Ss. Now with just shy of 8700 miles. K&N intake, Hawk exhaust, stock and TT seats, bar end mirrors.
Also Brand new Michelin Pilot Road 2CT tires.

Fish, sorry to hear that. Good luck with the sale and the new Jeep. I still have your address and want to show you something, that is if I ever get it back out of the shop. Heading to Cullowhee today for the last time. Jay's finally done with college.

Nance, hope the bike deal works out.

Where will the Ulysses go?

They Ulysses stays. The Blast may go, I haven't been riding it much lately.

After two Ulysses, I feel safe in making the generalization that they are stone cold reliable for the first 40,000 miles. Uly number two is unfortunately at about 45,000. I hear the Vstroms run forever, I plan on testing that theory. : )

Gutz - They are well made bikes, I could believe that. I love the GS. I'm just not sure I love it for $20k. The Suzuki is cheap enough that if I don't like it, I'm confident that I can turn around and sell it and come out even. That makes it easy for me to decide I want to try this bike.

A V-Strom and a Ulysses in the same garage, that should be interesting.

I like the little 650 twin in my SV, I'm curious how it would feel mounted in a heavier bike.

Nantz, I had a 1000 V-Strom and really liked it, prolly the most comfortable bike I've ridden for knocking out miles. The downsides, for me anyway, were that my legs are too short (same problem I had with MadDuck's Uly), and try as I might I couldn't ever, um, sport wood looking at it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say, but I could never find the beauty in that particular beast.

All that said - I really, really liked the bike, and I'm betting the 650 variant is a peach.

I say that in part because D had a SV650 for several years, and it was one of my all-time fave bikes to ride. Happy, friendly, powerful, easy-going, all-around fun machine - never shoulda let her sell it.

So, I can easily imagine that the overall goodness of the 'Strom, combined with the overall goodness of the Suzy 650 engine, would make for a fine motorcycle, indeed.

Or, put another way: CONGRATS! : )
