I did try cutting down a regular one, but I still can't get enough of a turn on 2 of the bolts to break them loose. And on the other two, I got them loose, but I can't get them 1/6th of a rotation around before the wrench runs into something.

The Yost wrench was only $10, so I went ahead and ordered one.

I found the Craftsman 47478 ratchet more helpful than the Yost piece. Every toolbox should have one. It isn't needed often, but it is invaluable. You will need a section of 1/4" allen( 7/16" approx.)

Cool, thanks. I went to Sears for the 47478 and ended up getting the 47477, which has 3 different angled heads.

It works great on the left side, though I still ended up using the cut down allen on the right side.

matt,
you don't have to remove those bolts all the way. only loosen enough to slide the manifold off. the opposite side needs to have the bolts removed completely. you can also use a 1/4" box end wrench with the cut off piece of your allen wrench for more clearance to get the pictured side.
have fun,
tim

The new intake seals appear to have done the trick on the S1. Now I just need to fix the leaking oil tank, the leaking clutch seal on the primary, and the smashed fender. I probably won't bother with the leaks until it hits 25k miles and I'm draining all the fluids anyway.

Sanchez- very funny! I'm with ya! We love our boat but it is sooooo easy to spend oodles of cash on it. Then you get the one-more- foot-itus!!!! Enjoy Charlie. Some of the best family times have been on the water.

We have been looking for a while now. My mom and her husband have a 53 foot house boat and a 18 ft center console fishing boat that we use from time to time.

This is an 18ft open bow Marquis with a 470 mercruiser and mercruiser 1 outdrive. Prolly gonna need new stringers(not looking forward to that job) and the interior is shot but I have found some good deals on materials and am very handy.

The motor runs great but still needs a little tuning. Out drive was just rebuilt, heat exchangers done, all new rubber on the bellows and such.

The best part is I sold a toy to pay for this one so I only have labor invested in it so far.

Have fun! I bought our first boat from a friend who lost interest. I recovered the seats myself. Fixed some floor issues with new wood an fiberglass and put a new stereo in it. Paid......get this....$350 for it. Seriously. Used the crap out of it; even put it in the gulf a few times; sold it 4 years later for $3000. It was fun redoing stuff and making it into a nice boat. We now have a 2005 NauticStar 25' deck boat. Love it to death. I would put it in the water everyday if I could. On the down side.....it has a 63 gallon fuel tank...do your own math....carry the one....it's a spendy hobby to say the least. Well worth it in my opinion though. Weekends at the lake with family and friends rock. Be safe and have a blast!

Charlie, you have two options: Keep your wits about you and a strong eye toward self-restraint.... Or.... You can just turn your wallet upside down and shake it.

That being said, i've had some GREAT times out on the water with family and friends.

Enjoy!!!

What are the two best days of a boat owners life?
The Day he bought it and the day he received the insurance check from the fire/theft,it was repossessed or sold.

Hey All,

Just checking in... Been awhile! I've been tattooing/piercing/tattoo removing more then I ride anymore. Still have the M2 (having the exhaust tigged as we speak) and usually can be found riding to work on one of my (reliable) crap jap cruisers. Hope to see you all at Buelltoberfest! ~F

PS Matt, if you were an aircraft mechanic you'd have a set of cut down Allen keys and 1/6 of a turn is allot sometimes!
