Man, you have a great setup there!
Thanks

Ratyson, according to the book "Designing Great Beers", around 90% of the winners in competitions across the country are using DME with a small grain mash just because the consistency of the DME is so good now. I'll admit I use some portions of DME in my competition entries. The only downside to DME is the cost, it's usually twice what I would pay for grains to do a 5 gallon batch. My average cost per all grain batches are between 20 and 25 bucks per 5 gallons, with DME it pushes 40 to 45, these costs include hops and yeast; my results are typically a 6 to 6.5% beer as a finished product. You can bring costs down by reusing the yeast a couple of times if you are doing similar styles back to back, that knocks 6 to 8 dollars off a couple of batches as well.

As far as the time portion of it, I've had nothing but time here lately it seems. But even when I was really busy during the week, we had family time around the brew kettle, I'd be willing to bet my 10 year old son could make a batch of beer now. Good times!

Kdan, what's wrong, you getting old or something?

Ask for a jury trial and you will never hear from them again.

Little trick I learned this last week.

The courts will not waste the money on a jury for a speeding ticket.

So, interwebs have been down at Casa Cavender for the last few days (at the library right now), but the party tomorrow is still on for anybody who wants to come on out. We live in Mountain Park, which is right by Roswell. Google maps "Mountain Park, GA" and come find us at the pavilion next to the two lakes, starting about 4 we'll be there. We may get a little spotty rain but it should be ok overall.

We've got the stuff to grill out, if anybody wants to bring a side (pasta salad, etc.) you can feel free. BYOB.

And sorry to break it to the Shriners in our group...a small parking lot is all we've got for minibike mayhem. It would be fun to shock the neighbors, but there's nowhere to really rip on the 50's. Bring 'em if you want.

If anybody needs to reach me I may not be able to check in here, so call me at 615-904-5149 anytime. Hope to see y'all tomorrow!

Norcross based Advanced Armament has their annual Silencer Shoot next month.

I highly advise you not to attend these kind of events. You will be required to fill out liability waivers, guess who is required by law to get copies of said waivers? That's right! Our big brother! Advanced Armament used to be named Civilian Armament and based out of Bulls-eye in Lawrenceville. Bulls-eye still sells their product, but the do not have a production argeement anymore due to some issues that arose between them and the ATF.

This may seems trivial to some, but rest assured that they are compiling list as we speak of those that show interest in things of such nature. You are still free to do what you please. Just keep in mind that these kind of events are really for the dealers who possess a class 3 dealers license, not "joe schmoe". Even if you have purchased a suppressor with a state tax stamp, you are required by law to register it with the sheriff in the county you live in. The location of said suppressor is really the only thing of any importance to them.

Just ask Shred. I'm sure he'd love to elaborate on how cooperative they were when they came to "reappropriate" some of his second amendments.

Cool stuff for sure. If i ever owned one, no one would ever know it.

Take this as you would any mass email, but plenty of references.
Concerning the Blair-Holt proposed legislation.

Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that we have or own. It may require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.

This bill was introduced on Feb. 24. This bill will become public knowledge 30 days after it is voted into law. This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all.

The full text of the proposed amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage, http://www.senate.gov/ You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill number, SB-2099.

You know whom to call; I strongly suggest you do. Please send a copy of this e-mail to every gun owner you know.

Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes, gun owners will become criminals if they don't fully comply.

It has already started.

Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009.

Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because the government is trying to fly it under the radar.

To find out about this, go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:

-It is registered
-You are fingerprinted
-You supply a current Driver's License -You supply your Social Security #
- You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
-Each update or change of ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25
- Failure to do so - you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject to up to a year in jail.
-There is a child-access provision clause on page 16 section 305. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18.
-They would have the right to come and inspect to see that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children, if not, there is a fine and it is punishable for up to 5 years in prison.

If you think this is a joke, go to the website and take your pick of many options to read this. It is long and tedious. But at least more and more people are becoming aware of this. Please pass the word along. Any hunters in your family..... pass this along.

This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society, to the point we have no defense - they chip away a little here, a little there, until their goal is accomplished, before anyone realizes it.

This is one to act on, whether you own a gun or not.

If they take our guns, only the criminal will have one to use against us. Criminals prefer unarmed victims. HR 45 only makes us all less safe. Criminals won't abide by the rules with this law, any more than they have in the past. As usual, this law targets only the law-abiding among us.

<http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111 -45

Please.. copy and send this out to EVERYONE in the USA , whether you support the Right to Bear Arms or are for gun control. We all should have the right to choose - actually we DO have it by the Constitution, but it's being stripped from us by the criminals in Washington .

What happens when they change just enough laws to make a majority of us, legal, law abiding citizens into criminals?

George Washington was called a traitor by the British, and a hero by us. There are no new uncharted lands that we can go stake a claim in if we don't like things here. They specifically left us a catch all to start things over WHEN uncle sam gets out of control. We should not fear our government, the government should fear its people. For it is we, expected to burden whatever load they heave upon us, that ultimately decide how we want things to go.

Sadly, I saw the last election as a bad episode of American Idol. Text in your votes now!
Something tells me we haven't seen anything that's in store for us yet. Keep your powder dry!

This post is not, by any means, asking anyone not to worry about our 2nd amendment rights. They are truly under attack by all manner of foes, and is the only means we have of securing the rest of our rights from threat.

Having said that:

First, any Congressional bill MUST be passed by both houses of Congress. There is no way around this... even for the current administration.
There is no way for this bill to be put into law without first being approved by means of a majority vote by both houses of congress, then signed by the president.

SB 2099 was introduced back in 2000. It sat there, unsuccessful. Basically it failed.

The biggest thing about this proposed legislation was that it did, indeed, intend to create a national firearm registration requirement by law. Definitely worth fighting just for that.

The bill also aimed to include all guns into the same tax and registration requirements as automatic weapons, short barreled shottys and silencers. It had nothing to do with requirements to put your firearms on your tax forms.

SB-2099 was introduced back in 2000 by Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), but went absolutely nowhere. It has been dead ever since. No other support was gained.

Now, HR 45 is a bill that gets introduced every year by Congressman Bobby Rush (D-IL), and each year it gets killed due to its broad and sweeping control.

There are MANY links that can be found with a quick search debunking the myths about these bills... but vigilance is still necessary for certain.

One place that you can check to track HR-45 is http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111 -45

It is very important to get the word out about submitted bills that affect our rights in any way... but it is MUCH more important to fight that fight with truth on our side. Because if we don't use truth to base our fight on, we have nothing to fight with, and will therefore loose the battle. I, for one, am NOT willing to loose that battle.

This post in no way is meant to slam or discredit Steve! So please don't take it that way. My aim is to point out what is true vs what is false in these emails so that we can fight with truth as our ammo.!

Sanchez, Cycle Gear should have a set for about 20, I'll be going by there later on today. Give me a buzz later on this evening.

Phil, That whole thing is a mess, don't get me started, lol!

That whole thing just dragged out for a while, the paper work to fix the files are just stupid. Got frustrated and let it just sit in limbo. If I had about 800 dollars to pay a decent lawyer it would have been done. Thats why big brother does it that way. I finally decided to fallow up and get it done. I hope to be hunting this fall

Normally don't hunt but a couple of my racing buds said their tired of giving me their deer meat. Tenderloin wrapped with bacon...yummie!

Adam and Becky, We had a blast, hate that you'll have to move but at least it isn't far. See you at B'Octbertfest.

I know where you are coming from Smokescreen.
It really sucks we have to register for a Tax Stamp on Short Barreled Rifles and Suppressors.
But the Stamp is just a formality. In the Age of Information privacy is limited. My web history is just as incriminating as gov docs. If the ATF gets as far as me on their lists we have bigger things to worry about.

I appreciate the link Eaton_corners. Looks like another gun grab inventory proposal.

If the ATF gets as far as me on their lists we have bigger things to worry about.

That, I'm afraid, is exactly what may be in store for us. When was the last time you heard of the ATF doing anything? They need new creative ways to gainfully employ themselves to ensure their continuing slice of tax payer money.

"Never under-estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers, for they are capable of anything." My country, I fear, has taken a drastic turn for the worse. Thankfully I am not still an active Marine anymore. Buddies that stayed, thinking about careers, are suddenly considering leaving. Scary stuff.
