Danyel the salesman that rides the buell's ? If so, nice guy, talked to him for a bit last weekend. Glad the cop let you off with just a bit of fussing.

hope y'all are doing great!! Michael and I spent the weekend racing WERA at Barber!! Bad juju on the practice day as a corner worker darted onto the track to remove debris and a girl rider on a zx10 cut to the inside where he came from and he turned back into her. unfortunately neither one made it. the girl who died rode with us at the Jennings after christmas weekend. her and her man had matching bikes and leathers and were both really moving on the track. they seemed really happy together. Michael saw the scene after but i got the red flag right at pit out and pulled in. RIP!! i tucked the front in turn 2 much later after the officials completed the investigation. worn tire and a little mist, did a few backwards somersaults in front of Michael but had little real damage. repaired and ready for saturday we then put the new pirellis on the bike. did practice and then waited for my race- heavyweight solo, expert and novice combined. got a killer start from way back but the race got red flagged on the 1st lap. 2nd start wasn't as good but i got off clean. there were so many people that i didn't really know my position but i moved past some riders and finished the 16 laps in 5th for the novice group. i was happy to have finished upright. Michael's friend Shannon cooked us a killer buffet on the 2 grills and we had a great saturday night..
woke up to rain on sunday so i put the rains on the bike and had some wet practice, really wet practice-bikes going down everywhere. first up-A superstock wet race, water all over the track. had a good race going fighting back and forth with another novice in the wet but he got into a fast tank slapper coming out of the last turn trying to drive away from me and i had a front row seat for a splashing, crashing, sliding event that brought out the red flag. restarted, got away clean again and just settled in coming off in 7th place. pulled right up for race 2, heavyweight superbike. another decent start but i got caught hung out behind slower riders and was not being very aggressive with my passing and let the leaders get away. i was getting a little frustrated trying to find a way around and then the halfway flags came out. that lap i turned it up and started passing on the brakes every where i could and worked my way to 3rd overall and 2nd in novice class. the track kept drying out but looking like it was about to let the rain out at any time so i was in a quandary about what to do. i went out for race 6-senior superbike combined and at pit out there weren't many of us still on rains. on the sighting lap there was very little water on the track. another good start and making moves up the order until i ran off track after the museum straight fom my head being somewhere else. i managed to keep the bike up and moving, staying away from the brakes and watching 8 riders go by underneath me. i rode back on track and just concentrated on repassing those riders. by the end of the race i got back by 4 0r 5 of them and finished 8th. i came into the pits and thought i had races 7&8 to swap the tires so some friends helped and we went after it. unfortunately they combined 7&8 and they were at 3rd call as we were buttoning up the rear. i dressed out as they started the 1st wave in race 9, heavyweight superstock and then as i started towards pit out the next wave was started. at pit out they let me on the track about 1/2 a lap down and on the 2nd lap here came the experts. it was fun as i got some good instruction for my next Barber event from guys like Matt Lynn and Brian Stokes. as they came by i managed to stay fairly close to the 7th expert that came by and somehow finished in 3rd place novice group. came home with some hardware!! : )sorry for the lengthy report.
HAVE A GREAT MEMORIAL DAY AND REMEMBER THOSE WHO HAVE KEPT US FREE!

Paint_shaker,

I am going to try my hardest to make it out there for the weekend, if weather permits.

Luckily my mom lives in Braselton so I have a nice free place to stay, I'll take her out to eat or something to make it look like I came to see her.

Big thanks to all of you who made it out to Granite Mtn on Saturday for Buell/Sport Bike Day! We had a good turnout even though there were on/off showers. We've still got the FREE gear locks for any test ride on a 2009 Buell motorcycle - come by either dealership and take a ride!!

Wow, busy on the 3% board since I've been away!

Dave and Amy- Congrats and welcome to the newlywed club! I know as much as we enjoyed our wedding and honeymoon, we enjoyed having all over with, too. Feeling the relief yet?

Sounds like the riding season is in full swing with the crew here. We just got back from 10 days up to Lake Placid, NY and back on the Uly. It was great. 2,850 miles, 1 broken muffler strap, 1 #77 connector bypass in Columbus, Ohio, and the rest was perfect.

Everybody be careful and enjoy the riding!

Smoke/Paintshaker- Watch out for human deer, for god's sake!

Well, Angie and I had quite the adventure over the weekend. We left Atlanta Saturday morning for Angie's first ride in the mountains:

We rode north up 60/19/129 and stopped at the top of Blood Mountain:

We stopped at 74 & 129 for gas and the War of Northern Aggression:

The Tree of Shame at the bottom of the Tail of the Dragon. We contributed no parts!

We rode up the Dragon and then cut east on Happy Valley Rd (the turn right before the Foothills Parkway). Happy Valley has some gnarly tight turns!

We spent the night in Sevierville, TN, which is just north of Pigeon Forge. I will never ride through Pigeon Forge again if I can avoid it. We spent half an hour stuck in a traffic jam.

The weather was overcast and a bit sprinkly Sunday morning, but it wasn't bad. We headed south down 441 through the Great Smokey Mountains national forest. The roads were nice and the views were good, but it was a little cold and wet. I only stopped once because I knew we had some great views ahead on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We rode south through Cherokee, NC to Bryson City for lunch, and then rode back north to the BRP. We got one good picture at a scenic overlook.

Things went downhill from there. The Uly died, and I couldn't start it back up again. Fortunately I had good cell coverage, so I called a tow truck and a 3%er. The tow truck took us to Maggie Valley, NC where we stayed the night at a Ramada Inn. Charlie, Sam, and Hayden came to our rescue with Mike's trailer the next morning.

I was sad we missed most of the BRP, but we had fun hanging out with good friends, and we got some quality nap time on the ride home.

And the real bitch? I fixed the problem when I got home just by pulling out the ignition relay and putting it back in. We'll see if that really does cure the problem for good, but at least it would've gotten the bike started on the side of the road and saved me a few hundred dollars!

I wish I'd thought to take a picture of the bike on the wrecker, but I was just so relieved to see them that it totally slipped my mind. Too bad no one was taking pictures as we unloaded either. It was a rollback truck, and they just had me sit on the motorcycle holding the brake as they tilted the bed down. Fortunately the Uly's pretty tall, because the front wheel slid backwards until the back tire came off the bed and hit the pavement. A shorter bike would've high centered for sure. All was well that ended well, though.

And of course they just had to get a shot of Smoke taking the walk of shame.

Some days, I guess. I got respect for you guys getting out there and going for it, win or lose (or finish or not).

can't keep nothin from you guys.: ) it's better to go down in practice than in the race however. we were lucky Michael's race was red flagged and we were able to get him back out in time. i just had to be ready by Saturday morning's practice as i gently placed my baby on the ground.(and did a succesion of back somersaults and face grinds to the pavement as i was thankful of the full-face as the asphalt went by an inch from my nose)
we both finished every race we entered!!

LOL! Thanks Matt, I needed the laugh. I"ve had two crashes as I'm in my third season with WERA. Both at Barber...T2 in 07' and now T5

Barber is still my favorite track!

Tim, That's was a hoot, I didn't enjoy my little "get-off' in T5 but thanks to you, Dusty and DJ for wrenching on my bike while I rested my shoulder. PAIN...what a rush.

we were lucky to come away unscathed!! Michael's getoff was well documented by camera(as were many others). i was a witness to a severe tank slapper and then crash and long slide in the deep water along the straight to the finish line!! the pictures start with this one. http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/orderpage.aspx?pi= 0HG80058010074&po=74 for the rest press home, barber part 2, crash. he came around hard to try and leave me behind and went right into 8 inches of water and couldn't keep from hydroplaning, then picked up a violent tank slapper which he couldn't keep control of. i had slowed to keep from going wide on the last turn into the water and backed off the throttle again to wait for the clear line to motor by. i was glad to see him up and about when i came in after they red flagged the race for the restart. more than 1 crash on lap 1 in the rivers flowing down the track. by race 6 there were only traces of rain left. this was on sunday.
