well in all honesty Chucky, I seem to have the same luck on finding problems too late. It's not that I don't think about being preventative, its just that thats as far as it goes.....thinking about it, never actually doing it. One day we'll learn I recon.

speaking of thinking about being preventative, the last week or so my fan has had a funny little whine to it while its cooling things down. it's kinda modulating RPM's like its binding or losing voltage even. what"s the typical life span on a fan anyway? I know my battery is kinda weak, could that be it or do yall think the fan is about to crap out?

Deadduck, Mine lasted a couple of thousand miles after the whine changed. A spare fan is about $60 iirc. Good spare to have too, since the bike runs for shiznit without a fan. A bearing puked in my fan. Check for bits of crud maybe rubbing the blades too.

I go see the doctor for the last time tomorrow, so this weekend I plan to ride the hell out of my bike. Who's up for a road trip?

It might not seem like that long, but it's been a month since the accident now. I talked to a couple of people who were already back out on the track at 4 weeks after breaking their collarbones, so I feel pretty good about just tooling around a bit. : )

> I just did one and really could've used the company

You know what's better than a road trip? Two road trips! Haha, come on out.

momma would kill me if I told her I was heading back out for a few days. She supported the first trip, but I'm afraid I wouldn't have a place to call home when I came back to town if I leave out on another so soon. We'll see what the summer brings.

Lol, Frank you are the last person I'd expect to have Cypress Hill playing on his myspace page. I expected some AC/DC or Led Zeppelin or something.

Mom's been thinking about getting a Tigger tattoo for years now, so I sent her the picture of the one you did. Is that Sam's? Maybe we'll drop by your shop in August when she visits for her birthday.

Matt, That thing looks like it would be good in a roll over, you could just keep on truckin when the wheels hit the pavement again. The Tigger tat is on my wifes shoulder, I still have the stencil I made if Mom is down with it.

Cypress Hill? I grew up in Queens listening to all kinds of music, cept country of course. A man has to have some limits for decentcey's sake!

Reading the article on the web page raises several red flags about this guy's intelligence, and business reasoning skills.

He obviously thinks that a full face helmet is only needed to reduce the effects of wind noise... Nevermind the pesky threat of having your face grinded off on the pavement.

Yes. : )

I need a new helmet, and that makes me sad. Helmets are expensive.

What irritates the hell out of me is that no one can quantify how well a helmet protects my head. Does a $500 helmet protect me 5x better than a $100 helmet? Or is it just maybe more comfortable or quieter or prettier or something?

Some studies show that the more expensive helmets that conform to the Snell standard are actually too stiff and transfer more shock to your brain than the softer DOT or euro spec helmets. One test I saw rated my old Icon right on par with a pricey Arai, and my old Icon was really comfortable. On the other hand, pro racers only wear expensive helmets, and they must have some reason for doing so.

It seems like no one has anything better than anecdotal evidence about someone they saw wreck. That bugs me. I am an engineer, and I want numbers, damn it.

Kdan, Shark is it, made me not buy an Aria or Suomy. Shark has about 3 or 4 price ranges. Not the cheapest but won't break the bank either.

But really, their are some really good helmets you don't have to pay 500 and 600 dollars for a good lid.

BTW, Cycle gear sells them, not a lot in stock. They will order. Check out their web site.

Great pic Sanchez just not so great of a time. I laugh only because I've been there, and done that with most of my cloths cut off and 'GATORDIC' taking pictures....So I'm really laughing with you and not at you.

O.K everyone.....Try to make it out to Mellow Mushroom this Friday at 7pm on Hwy 78 by Charlies/Sams house

My...I mean our....favorite server is leaving 'Brook' aka Miss Azz of Ga. maybe even the south itself. No really, ask anyone who been there with us.

Good food, stone baked pizza and killer brownies that won't make you fail a DT

Just got back from a miserable trip to Florida.
Now I am back to catch up in the office.

On the brighter side...
Been spending a lot of time in the yard.
I figured my landscape architecture plan should start with a 50 track!

Hey Charlie/Guys & Gals
The new shop I'm at is very clean, friendly, respectable, nothing like the last one and the dousch bag factor is about nil... Holla when you wanna make the trip out 770 306-8188 (shameless plug).

Naw man, I don't talk much shit ever (ha ha Right!). It's your head, you enjoy it anyway you'd like! I was kinda pissed getting a concussion from the deer crash even though I was wearing a HJC full face flip up. Guess what happened is when my head hit the pavement on my left temple the helmet cushioned the shock to the skull but the brain kept moving with the inertia of the crash. Didn't get a scratch to the skin but the brain has the consistancy of jello and doesn't do well in sudden stoppages... Motorcyclist did a hugh controversal artical on helmets that pitted Arai, Shoei, HJC and others from $100-$700 dollar range lids in an unbiased test. The winner was a ZR1 $100 helmet! It soaked up the damage best and didn't transfer the energy as much as the others did (not that the Arai or Shoei were slouches). Check out the artical. I rode out west while in the service with out a helmet for years and while cool it would've been a game ender had I come off (not to much traffic/deer going cross country thru the southern Idaho/Nevada dessert). Did the half helmet thing for a decade too while I was in the chopper/bobber phase. The deafening wind noise, helmet pull and chance of losing nose, face and chin didn't occur to me till I saw the nasty picture on the net of the guy who supposedly hit a guard rail in one of those novelty helmets. Scared the crap outta me (whether it was real or not) and I bought my first Shoei. Banged allot of honeys with out a jimmie hat too, some two rubbers wasn't enough but I guess it comes down to what you feel comfortable with and the risk factor involved... Ya gotta go with what works for you. There's just too many guys working out here with me with fingers/eyes/toes missing to play around. If you've never been to the ER at 4am having them dig a shard of metal out of your eye, hoping it doesn't pop, consider yourself lucky (don't ask). Anyway, sorry for the rambling as it's been a long slow morning building jet engines. Drop in on me at the shop and spread some luv! later
