Oh yeah, this group uses the chicane on the front straight. Check your break pads.

Lyle and I got out for a very pleasant 125 mile ride this afternoon. From Tacoma, across the Narrows Bridge to Paulsbo and onto the Ferry to Seattle. Then on east I-90 to Hwy. 3, over Tiger Summit, to Auburn, I-5 and back home.

It was foggy, wet and nasty on Tiger Summit but the rest of the ride was great. The best part was on I-5 in Fife (the best place in western Washington to meet a State Patrolmen). We were minding our P’S and Q’s in one of the middle lanes, cruising along at 68mph in a 60 zone when in my mirror I saw a bike coming up pretty quickly in the fast lane. At first I thought it was a Harley, as it got closer it started to look like some sort of sport bike. Whatever it was, we were going to see it up close in a second or two because it’s flying right along and will be passing us two slugs any moment. It caught up, and then passed us and I almost fell off of my big, bad, 955cc, FI, 109 rwhp, Triumph when it did.

Lyle and I got ourselves blown off by a Motor Scooter!!! No kidding, a bright red Honda Silver Wing motor scooter. The shame of it all.

All three of us turned right onto Hwy 7 and you’ll be proud to know that we regained some pride through the corner. I think he must have thought he had put us away on the freeway as he looked startled when Lyle and I flew by in the curve. I think he had it taped out on the straight and didn’t seem very interested to keep up around the curve. Now Lyle and I can brag that we out ran a motor scooter. We’re bad!

Am I just being Ultra Competitive or didn't you guys get it?

A Motor Scooter (that would be a M O T O R - S C O O T E R) --- a F**king MOTOR SCOOTER --- out ran me on the freeway!

Please, somebody lookup the phone number for the Suicide Hotline. This is serious.

And you were on a Triumph, Ray. Nobody wants to touch this one 'cause it's just tooo easy.
Although I will say that had you been on a Sportster you would at least be able to say that you couldn't see it catching up 'cause the mirrors were vibrating too much.

No need to miss me, Bob. I'm always here. Just too shy to say much when I'm sober.
Nice to see this clipart has the beer the proper colour!

You all must love this weather.

Greeneric - bounce!

How did you all end up on Triumphs? Good dealer? Easy to work on? World of aftermarket? Balance of performance and style? I'm just curious.

Roc: My journey to the dark side began the day I crashed my Buell.

I didn’t want to buy another M2 (been there, done that, got t-shirts to prove it) and Buell didn’t make a new bike that interested me. I’ve always been in heat over ’98 S1’s but they were selling for $6,000 and I would have wanted to cu$$$tomize it.

I might have bought a four cylinder bike and I might have bought a Japanese bike but I really didn’t want a four cylinder Japanese bike. I sat on every bike God ever created, I test rode a few of them and I found fault with all of them. I read the magazines and the searched the internet for information. Nothing really worked for me. The Suzuki SV 1000 didn’t yet exist, the Honda Super Hawk almost worked but got horrible gas mileage, Ducati’s and Aprilia’s were cool but expensive and in the end nothing really turned my crank and fit my budget.

Then I found the Triumph Sprint RS. It’s a dependable, good handling, high h.p. bike with a fairing and comfortable ergonomics. It’s a slow seller and, therefore, was deeply discounted. Cool! An inexpensive bike that I actually liked. Sold!

Roc- You need to go for a test ride. The triples make a great sounding bike with good power. Yes that Buell might be faster in the parking lot but once were out the driveway your time is over. Please go read the new Cycle World Roc. They have a article on a 02 Daytona that has been boosted. 177hp!! Thats 50hp more than your turbo s2 and 100hp more than the bolt. 02 Daytonas are selling new for $6999 and the areocharger kit goes for 6k. Mike

I think I'll be seeing you much sooner than July. See you in 2 1/2 weeks brother. Bring your Mule so you can tear up the parking lot. You will fill good for a while until SLASH then we'll get out of first gear. Muhaha Muhaha.
Honest can't wait to see you and FMJ it's been a while. Matt, Bob, Deb, Cody, Katie and I will be seeing you guys at battletraxx. Ferris I even found a bike for you to use for hot shoeing. Reaching the ground on it will not be a problem. Getting it from my son might be though. Mike

Ray - that is kind of what I thought. I hope, and suspect, that you all have good dealers as well.

Oh Mike - I know you wanted the GSXR-750, but insurance said no, so....

I did read the boosted Daytona article, interesting. For the record it made 50 more HP than my S2, when the S2 had a faulty ignition - or perhaps some other problem. The only really neet thing about the S2 that day is that it went from a bit under 40 HP to 110 HP in 1700 RPM. I don't think it will make as much as the Daytona, but then again I bought it for less than the 6k they want for the 955's turbo.
