Has anyone done anything creative with their oil dip sticks? I find mine very difficult to read. | ||

i bought the billet one, but it really isnt much better. i know just use small carboard strips, same lenght as the dip stick to check oil. | ||

Check the KV. I can't remember who, but the used a specific yellow shrink wrap to make it easier to read. | ||

Here is the solution that Tucson was referring to: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/discus.cgi Basically it involved putting some light color 3/8" shrink tube over the dipstick to make it more legible. | ||

You know, I just got used to reading the oil level on the dipstick and have no problem knowing exactly what the level is, checking after every other ride. However, I'd love to see an oil stick with temperature readout on the top. Used to have one on my 78 Yamahaha SR500. Prof (love the thumbnail photos to the left) | ||

Firebolt - I found that on Ebay and they do have a firebolt. It is an outfit in Spain, I was a little apprehensive dealing out of the country, but is was the cleanest Ebay deal I have ever done. I had the model in 2 weeks after the deal was finished. The seller is coast*7. I found this on the site now. BUELL FIREBOLT XB9R MODEL 1/24 VERY RARE!! | ||

Opto, I hesitated cutting too much off those rings for fear I would get a false reading if the stick picked up oil from the sides of the dipstick opening. Mike. | ||

Kinda dumb question but I figured I should get it answered. When checking the oil do I screw the dip stick back in and out to check it? (Message edited by cataract2 on November 23, 2004) | ||

not a dumb question; it would be the difference between being full and requiring more oil. the dipstick must be fully seated (screwed in) for proper reading. | ||

Make sure the bike is on the sidestand on a level floor and the engine's hot when you check it. When cold, the level is usually at or below the 2nd ring. |
