What's with the tires on the city-x? The front and rear tires have the tread pattern going in opposite directions. Is this normal? The Dunlops weren't this way.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Tiki...don't recall the CityX but the trend for other big block 90/10 On/Off Road radials was to reverse the front so it appeared to be mounted backwards.

I never tried it on my KLR but many others have and swear by it. If it looks like your front tread is reversed from your rear and the arrows are indeed pointing in the right direction, it looks like the manufacturers (at least Pirelli) picked up on a good thing.

FYI, the concept is to give you more bite with the front end in the loose stuff, which you probably will never see with a belt drive bike with low ground clearance and no bash plate.

All I know is that these tires are awesome!
I have put on about a 1000 miles on them so far and I love these tires. Nice pick Mr. Buell!

My new Michelin Pilot Powers also has the tread going in opposite directions.
Perhaps this is because the maximum load on the rear tire occurs during acceleration whereas the maximum load on the front happens during braking.
BTW these tires are much better than the Dunlop 207, especially the way they corner.

Just checking. I know there's an arrow, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Just a thought.
The rear tire is driven by the engine to propel the motorcycle forward; it does this by pushing against the road; I know we all know this little fact. In the case of the front tire, one of its main purposes, being its tread, is to grab the road surface in the twisties. So the opposite is true for the front tire, it is not driven by the motorcycle; it is driven by the road. Drive and driven in the same direction or something like that.

Should I quite business school and change to engineering? Just a thought. Oh ya, and 3%ers rule!

We are all 3%ers aka stepchildren.
Long story short.
Buell is about 3% of Harley.
Plus it's the name of our BRAG chapter.
