So, I'm at the light coming back from lunch and the guy in the car next to me rolls down his window and shouts..."How much would you sell that bike for?"

I shake my head no..

Then he goes... $4K? $5K?... $6K!!?

I continue to shake my head no as the light changes green... then I accelerate to what must have been a small speck in his windshield. While I ride off I ponder the question. "How much would I sell my trusty steed for?"

How much would you sell yours for?

Way more than it's worth to anyone else. Just bought another one in July.

A kinda douchey Harley guy asked me how much for my 2003 XB9S a couple of weeks ago. I jokingly said $5,500 (more than I paid 5yrs ago) then actually started to worry when he still seemed interested.
I'd be stupid not to sell for that price but I wouldn't want some douchebag riding off on her either. Of course the guy didn't buy it.
I've thought about selling the XB before but that made me realize that I'll have a hard time selling her to just anybody.

I would never sell my Buells, I now have two, a tuber and an xb. They are unique examples of Buell through the years and I hope to include an 1125 within the next year or so. Maybe by then I will be able to include a EBR bike to. These bikes are great examples of American originality and personality, they have soul and I wouldn't easily part with them.

I'd probably take $6k or so for my XB9SX, I'd sell the worked Blast for about $3k, and I'd sell the 1125R for around $9k.

At those prices, I could easily replace them with a comparable bike with some money left over for farkles.

Sold my 2010 xb12r for $7k with only 400 miles on it, for trade on a 12 zx14r kaw, a little more than I paid for it.

If you get any offer close to $6k for any buell its best to take it and run, For $5K-$6k, you can buy almost any low mileage 750cc-1000cc sport bike that will be a lot better value and bike than the old buells.

A lot of ppl that previously bought buells in the past have now sold them off, just look at how many members have left this forum, its like a ghost town here now. Compared to only a few years ago.

Its my feeling that most buell owners will sell off most of there bikes and they will be turned into choppers or used for sportster upgrades, as time goes on. Then the only remaining buells you will see will be in museums and private collections.

The situation with buells is that most ppl just don't want them period anymore.

Or the 2 best days in a Buell owners life " The day he bought it and the day he sold it", same as large boats and large RV's

My XB is the best handling bike over 350cc that I have ever owned. Period.

Would I sell it? Maybe. But certainly not because it is in any way "inferior" to any other bike.

Watching Danny Eslick riding circles around Blake Young in race one at Homestead, I couldn't help but think "there is some XB DNA in that bike".

The day may come when I hang up my leathers for good, and I do sell my XB. I hope it is a long time off yet. If I do sell it, it will go to someone that can appreciate the bike for what it really is. The price is not so important.

Thats where the problem is (In What It Really Is), while the Buells do look great standing still and have some good handling traits, that about were it ends.

The bottom line is the XB's are really down on power for a 1200cc sportbike and then with the 1125's you have all the reliability issues. Now you have to deal with lack of parts supply , dealer support etc.

Comparing the xb's to any R6, gsxr600,cbr00 etc the 600's beat the xb every way possible.

As for the current EBR 1190's your dealing with a one off $50k factory racer, now compare that to a factory BMW SS100RR and see how the 1190 stacks up.

If you want a v twin sports bike other than a ducati, then the KTM 1190 RC8R is the way to go.

Sure... except I don't ride my XB on the track terribly often (and if I do, I'm in the beginner group). I can't even ride the Blast near it's actual limits, much less my XB9.

And I'd much rather ride a Buell on the street than a pure racebike. Gobs of torque, and a sound that turns heads (Buell Race Exhaust on my XB9... sounds incredible).

How much would you sell your XB for?
If/when it came time to sell, it'd go to the highest bidder.
I've had offers between $4K and $5K.
But to be honest, this has been the most fun I've had on any of my bikes.
It definitely has the most miles of any bike I've owned.
So far there's over 80,000 and still counting.
The most I ever had on any of my other bikes would be the Suzuki with 30,000 miles.
All offers to buy my bike will be entertained...or is that entertaining?

hey Xxxue, since you obviously don't own a buell anymore and have disparaged them frequently I have to ask why you even lurk this forum at all? Just move on and let the rest of us enjoy the bikes as we see fit. We can get enough negativity from elsewhere.

In my riding group, I am the only person with a Buell. On any weekend the bikes in the group are a host of every kind of "FAST" bikes you can imagine. Every kind of 600, R1s including two cross planes, Ducs from the 848 to the 1198, Aprillia, and so on.

They can all outrun me in a straight line. Where I live, even an old slow Briggs n Stratton powered XB will go fast enough to earn a visit to jail, get your bike confiscated and cause you a bunch of grief.

As far as FAST goes. For every squid that thinks he is fast, there is a kid on a beat up Honda RS-125 that will eat your lunch at a track day.

It comes out on top. Watch AMA Superbike or pick up the issue of Cycle World that compared the current slew of superbikes on the market, including exotics (which is how the 1190RS is classified) I can't wait to see how the new affordable EBR models stack up once they come out.
But enough feeding of the troll.

If you can sell your XB for enough to make a profit then go for it... as long as you make enough to cover the trouble and cost of finding a newer/better version. I think that kind of deal is going to be really rare though.

I agree Rage... I think that's exactly how it should look too.

I did the CR Bar conversion with a set of adapters from Diesel Moto a little over a year ago. It's a real Hooligan bike now! SS Drummer, XBRR Clutch Kit, K&N Filter and NGK Iridium plugs...

Which is why I couldn't, wouldn't sell it. I'd be too damn mad if the replacement bike didn't live up to it. I'd be comparing and complaining too much to enjoy it!

Id sell my 09 bolt got 6000 once my 04 lightening is done. I would never sell my 04 even with being all apart. My fiancée has a 07 gsxr 1000 and as fun as that bike in east TN with all the mountains we both love my lightning more.

Or, worse, an old guy!

The 70 year old on an Ninja 250 is probably the guy to fear on the track. We had one who was a racer from the 70s, and he could make that bike do completely absurd things in a corner. Yeah, he got blown out of the water on the straight, but the Sandia Raceway didn't have a very long one of those.

lookin' good, mel.

i'd only sell my XB to buy another in better condition
... so i guess 'market value' or higher, WITH a replacement on standby
my bike has no feelings for me, and i'm not particular about the VIN.

The Buell is what it is, you either like them or you don't. Coming from a sportbike background and owning GSXR1000's prior to the XB12R, I was really spoiled on a what a true sportbike should be.

If you have a chance to get your hands on a friends 1000cc Jap sportbike on ride it for a few hrs. and then get back on to a Buell, you would then know exactly what I mean.

86hp to 90hp for a 1200cc sportbike is a joke by todays standards, I even road with a friend that had an old 1987 GSXR750 that only made about 80hp and it blew the doors off my xb12r every time from light to light and even high speed roll ons on the highway. We even switched bikes and with me on the old gsxr750 I blew passed my XB everytime.

That was one of the main reasons I traded it and bought the zx14r

I don't know why you would even compare a XB to a inline 4 liter bike. Other than displacement, they have little in common. If you think the ZX14r is right for you, then clearly the XB wasn't a good choice. Looking beyond the displacement or HP numbers in the first place might have gotten you on a bike you like the first time around.

Personally, I still dig my XB and would have little use for a ZX14r. That doesn't make it a bad bike though, just a bad bike for me.
