Has anyone either heard of, tried or otherwise know anything about these: "Fitch Fuel Catalyst.. power sports pack" They sell them at the HD parts counter. Most of my friends with Harley's use them and notice a little difference in power but mostly fuel economy. They look like a small pack of fishing weights and they are supposed to change the molecular structure of the fuel somewhat. My concern is what effect they would have in the XB frame... they fall to the bottom of course, I wouldn't want them to knock around and damage anything or plug up anything. Of course they could just be "snake oil" for all I know. Comments????

Lance,

The last comment in your post is inappropriate and uncalled for. I'm going to start cracking down on derisive content. Please do not engage in personal attacks.

Please do NOT reply to this as I will not engage in debate on the issue. Sorry to make you the example, but the whole board is drifting down the toilet lately and I don't want the collapse in decorum to continue.

If you'll recall the policiy to which you agreed when you registered here...

quote:

By registering for participation in this Buell enthusiasts' discussion board you hereby agree that you will not post profain language nor will you engage in personal attacks or in derision of other users of the board. You agree to treat with respect and courtesy all members of this online Buell enthusiasts' community. You also agree to abide by custodian/admin requests concerning the content and decorum of your participation on the board.

Basically, you agree to treat others as you would expect to be treated; post as if you were speaking face to face. In all cases avoid flame wars and hateful content.

Those seeking to sew disharmony and malcontent are not welcome at BadWeatherBikers.com.

So there you have it. A few malcontent jerks of late instigated the above policy making. If you are cool with it all then...

Buells ROCK! Welcome, and come on in and say hello!

Please stick to your agreement!

Lance,
"What the heck did I say that was wrong on that last post? so that I'm CLEAR. LOL..... Is smartass now an inappropriate word? whatever!"

You and I meet in public and I shout out a comment implying that you are a "smartass". Would you appreciate that? I sure wouldn't! That is what you did in your post above. Got it?

And no, "whatever" won't cut it. Your cooperation and adherence and that of all users of this forum to the stated policy is mandatory. It's that simple.

I asked nicely, very nicely in fact for your cooperation, even apologized for making you the example at the beginning of this effort to reign in the decorum of the board.

I also asked that you "Please do NOT reply to this..." a request that you obviously refused to honor. That's strike two. If you are intent on challenging Admin, you will lose. Again, please do not reply. Please do just cooperate and continue to enjoy the board. That will be much appreciated.

>>>Most of my friends with Harley's use them and notice a little difference in power but mostly fuel economy.

Ask them to prove it and, at the same time, save your money.

It seems this is a bit like taking the baffles out of the exhaust and "feeling" your car go faster.

This claim came up quite a while ago and Aaron Wilson did a well documented and executed series of tests. He allowed for most the variables I could think of. I do not recall, and stand ready to be corrected, the precise results, but seem to recall that the conclusion was the stuff basically did nothing but take up room in your otherwise good fuel.

If they are not that expensive. Do some testing of your own. Make some good, documented, repeatable mileage readings on your bike. Then repeat while using this stuff as per the manufactuers reccomendations.

Who knows....

My dry cleaner, by the way, swears by the magnets he has pasted all over the engine of his Caddy. My take is that it is related to smelling that fluid he works with, but he beleives it and is happy.

Go figure..

If you used every air flow swirler, fuel atomizer, fuel catalyst, black magic ignition wires, and nuclear lubricants from planet X that are supposed to save fuel and increase performance, the only place you'd be able to ride to in a hurry would be to the service station to OFFLOAD FUEL. Please. Doesn't anybody have anything for my bald head?

Lance,

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but quite frankly you're acting just like 420 was, only in a less vulgar manner. Why can't you just drop it?

And if you really think multiple usernames are any insurance policy against being banned from the board, ask me about the e-mail *I* received one day when someone else was making an @$$ of himself under a different name, but from my computer.

Do you really want to risk losing access to the great people and wealth of real world information on this board to prove a childish point? I've said it before and will again - this is a private forum; if Blake or another person he trusts with admin rights ask you not to piss in their sandbox, you say OK and go about your life. No harm and no foul.

Darth.... what irritates me is that admin boy decides to make an example of the word smart ass and "whatever" when there are people cursing each other out in a couple other posts. Or is this a special club where people who have been here a while can say what they want? (the in-crowd). Is admin afraid to make examples out of them perhaps? I find his choice of examples funny when there are so many better ones to make.

I'm still scratching my head about HOW admin boy even came to the conclusion that my post needed an example made out of it, I mean really. He can block this IP address or the computer next to me or next to that and on down the line. 10am... yes, I'm at work. I'll use a different name at home. What are your questions?

Lance,

Even though you are using different computers, the public IP your messages are coming from is the same. Your private internal address get NAT'ed or PAT'ed through one real address.

Lance-

First of all, I don't have JACK to do with this board - besides being a participant. It's not just Admin that was at least put off by your comments. Neither he nor I are of the female persuasion. Just FYI...

Personal opinion: When asking questions that have been answered before and when those answers are still available, I feel noise is being created and valuable resources are being wasted. At the very least, Blake gets to spend more $ on useless bandwidth. At most, it takes away from the value of the board.

Of course, these are strictly my opinions. Please remit the previously agreed upon sum immediately upon reading.

Thank you for your service Lance12r.

On to the IP thing... Your IP will be run through a router. That router will (as hootowl mentioned) NAT (Network Address Translation) you IP into a packet with it OWN IP wrapped around it. What will happen is you will end up getting the entire building maybe base (depending on how the military set up their networks) banned. If you walked into a house in Japan would you remove your shoes? Even though here in America it's optional... This is Admin's Japanese house. We really do have to play by his rules. Quite frankly I think that this particular issue isn't even close to worth being thrown off a board of such high quality. Keep in mind that the reason this board IS in such a high class is that it is well moderated. Granted - Maybe the moderator was a little peeved already due to the 420 issue when he read your post but that's not the point.

Anyway... Again... Thank you for your service.

Lance:

I'll try to help a bit. I've been riding Buells for the better part of the last 20 years and have seen the tides come and go several times.

Badweb evolved from a long history on Buell discussion sites, including the short lived "Official Factory Site" on www.buell.com.

Badweb grew out of a small number of us who used to do group e-mails and sought an easier way, as the numbers grew, to enable anybody to participate who was willing to abide by the rules.

Many of us work REAL jobs. Blake was in Japan doing an Earth Antenna for some secret space program when he started this, if I recall.

I am a construction work and had taken a two-year sabbatical to work at the Buell factory in East Troy.

As Badweb grew, in terms of numbers and geographic participation, we found the continuum of our membership growing wider and wider.

As our numbers swelled, so too did the range of persona and behaviors that various folks found acceptable with various folks sitting beside them as they surfed the "net".

My PERSONAL criteria are that I'd PREFER to participate REGULARLY in discussions that I need not fear my young kids (they are no longer young) reading. In fact, when I am asked to write for a magazine, business or motorcycle, my PERSONAL criteria is "if I wouldn't leave it on my coffee table at home or lobby table at work, no thank you".

I'm no prude; that's just my criteria...loosely defined. (Yes, I've stretched it).

As time passed some of the folks who'd become respected Badwebbers sought the freedom of looser tongues. Don't, for one minute, impute that these were not nice, good, smart and respectable guys who I call friends. They just wanted a different atmosphere...the very reason that Four Seasons did not drive Holiday Inn out of business.

I used to periodically visit a couple other Buell sites and I'd take anyone to task that doubted Choptops smarts or Mike Palladino's passion for motorcycling.

Back to center....

Badweb has set standards. Folks, who accept those standards, are welcome.

I'm not sure we are right; that metric is fuzzy. We *TRY* to be tolerant and consistent. Several "old timers" have been temporarily squelched, calmed (their tone, not their beliefs) and welcomed back. I assure you both Greg (Dyna) and Sean (Rocket) are guys I disagree with on some things. I also really like both of them. Greg, in particular, has a much rougher "intersonna" than he shows in person. On some days I see him as a whiner, most days as a proud Grandfather, passionate motorcyclist and nice guy. I don't need to agree to like him. Ditto Rocket...who is as rough and unruly no matter where you find him but for the life of me, I know not why, has a certain appeal like hot candy. Both have shown their true meddle, when wrong, by sincerely apologizing. I'm no stranger to eating words myself.

Any, I submit, appearance of discretionary application, is the result of those of us who serve in this role being saddled with work. I drive 2 hours to work in the morning, turned in 83 hours on a timesheet last week, and drive 2 hours home at night. Of the 10 busiest roads in the USA, I drive 6 of them through NYC twice daily...working till 11:00PM can be a blessing.

I'll leave you with one final thought that is mine alone. I'm perfectly accepting of you saying, "Buell sucks". I can handle you calling me an "asshole". BUT...call one of the ladies here a "bitch", "slut" or "whore" and your ass is mine. Ditto similar remarks to males and racial remarks.

In summary...nothing in the foregoing should lead you to believe I am a "church boy". I'm just a guy who has seen LOTS of internet sites come and go, have made some of my best friends here and am willing to abide by simple, understandable standards to protect that PRIVILEGE.

This is not written tongue in cheek. I have just used my lunch to give you a serious answer to a serious question.

I hope I've persuaded you and I hope you'll make the choice to continue participating.

Court Canfield

Lance,

[some worthless advice from someone who recently misbehaved badly and may be partially responsible for the current wave of reactionary moderation]

Your comments were far less offensive than some made by "old guard" members here recently...your timing was just unfortunate. The Admin here is in "circle the wagons mode" as a result of recent exchanges. I'm sure its merely coincidental that the newer members are subjected to public admonishment, whereas it appears that the old timers who have transgressed have either received private "guidance" or have been ignored because they are "friends" of the powers that be or have been sponsors....so why should this place be any different than the real world?

My advice would be to keep in mind that this is, in essence, a private motorcycle club and the vast majority of us are mere prospects and serve at the pleasure of the established members. They make the rules and will [tastefully] boot us if we cause too much trouble.

The safest tact is to lurk only, and if you feel it necessary to comment or ask a question, do so in only the most careful and exacting of social graces after conducting extensive research of the archives. Do not assume that the "edgy" nature of some posts indicates a broad acceptance of that method of communicating....at least not today.
