Why speculate when you can't buy? ; )
Let's all wait and see how things pan out.

I like what Ducati has to offer. The Hyper in 1100 and 796. You can get a 6.1 gal tank on the 1100. The new Strada looks promising. Aprilia has the Shiver and the SUMO. But I still want a Uly. Just pisses me off.

LOL, here are my "goals", or more like dream list.
First I have to finish my Buell collection:
-'98 S1W (and keep it stock, then black out my '97 S1)
-'07 XB9R
-'09 1125R w/full fairing
-'96 or '97 S3T
-'02 X1W
-'07 XBRR

Then I like:
-that inline 6 BMW
-'10 Kawasaki ZX10R

From what I've seen in the news recently... I am once again excited about Moto Guzzi. they have several new "big block" bikes supposedly coming on line and their "small block" is available in three different versions... V7 classic, V7 cafe, and V7 clubman.

As long as we're dreaming, I saw an Aprilia RSV4 at the Rock Store on Saturday. Absolutely exquisite. Tiny, makes an XB look big next to it. 180 hp. Get behind me, Satan!

I am going to wait for whatever bike Erik Buell decides to make and buy that. If not I will keep my Lightning till she don't run anymore then give it to my grandson so he can rebuild it. And as much as I would like to ride a sportbike forever I might one day get a cruiser. Bra-ba-ba-ba-bum-bum-bum.

I am looking a little closer at the KTM street bikes now. mainly the super duke. but I may just go Jap liter bike. I know that as time goes on and parts start to dwindle I will start to get scared of breaking my XB and will need something to replace its function.

Honda 1000 maybe Yamaha R1, the new BMW S1000RR looks promising but I am afraid of maintenance costs. time will tell on that bike if its affordable to ride 8,000 miles each summer or not. and the Aprilia RSV100R starts getting a little pricey for me.

granted the new RC8/RC8R RSV4 and street fighter are drool worthy but even in my wildest notions of purchase I could never justify $20,000 for a motorcycle (after tax title and fees)

as a side bike for a VERY sport touring I am thinking about a ZX-14. 2 up friendly enough weight to smooth out those long and nasty Michigan highways and an "I dare you to catch me" attitude. I think it may be my next bike.

but I will never sell my XB, its my daily commute bike and great for downtown blasting. I just hope that when I finish my degrees Erik will have let loose whatever he may have up his sleeve.

Edit: or maybe I'll just find and old RC51 SP-2/RVT1000R/VTR1000SP2 (other than having 3 names I like the bike)

The ZX14 and the Busa have both grown on me, though I would be the slowest, least squidly rider of that bike you've ever encountered. I like them for touring. They're pretty comfy, really. Big enough to relax a little.

Granted, I've never ridden one... only saddle-tested at shows.

I'd have a Fischer MRX though. I like the small American business aspect of it, and they just keep plugging away. They're not successful, but dammit they're determined. Reminds me of someone else that started small.

I'm used to wrenching my own bike now anyway.

I have ridden my friends ZX-14 and love it! its very comfy with TONS of saddle space and stable. I also like that it still has a bit of grunt at the low RPM range so you don't have to strangle it to death to cruise down the road. the 600's and some of the 1k bikes sound outrageous when I red with them, I just keep thinking "shift... shift..... shift already!" but on some of those bike you need to be at 8 or 9 thousand RPM to get enough power to just blast around town.

I took a new Ducati Hyper for a spin last Wednesday. OH my, daddy want!!
Company in California makes a 6 plus gallon tank for extended fun.
This would make a most excellent addition to the stable.
My local dealer has 3 new 08's with discounted prices.

or you could wait for the 1100 model to hit your dealer. I test rode a hyper and it was very nice (I instead saved a bunch buying my XB9 for about the same thrill) but an 1100 will be ridiculous fun!!

Dreaming wise, the new Multistrada 1200. Realistic wise, maybe a Kawasaki Versys.

My next bike (maybe in addition into my XB12Scg) will likely be a Triumph Speed Triple or maybe even a Street Triple.

I'm going shopping soon for a TT. I really cant see myself as happy on any other kind of bike than a Buell.

GSX1250F

The Suzuki Bandit 1250ABS with hard bags was in the running before I bought the Buell, and now I see that fully faired Bandit 1250 (GSX1250F) is coming, so I think that I would consider something like that, but I hope to have my Buell for a long time before I have to seriously consider the question.

I like the Hayabusa's comfort and rode a friend of mine's bike...stock. I could never own one of these! Not that I didn't enjoy it, quite the contrary. I did not feel speed on this bike whatsoever! Fourth gear, 130 and not even realizing it, certainly made me realize one thing....I love my license more than that bike!!

+1 on the Hypermotard with the big 6.1 gallon tank added. Extremely cool, fun bike.

+1 on the new MS 1200, too. Sweet.

-5 on how much the Ducs cost. Especially the Multi. Ouch!

Would instead buy a Street Triple R and a Kawasaki Versys for not much more than I'd spend on either Ducati.

"...likely be a Triumph Speed Triple or maybe even a Street Triple."

+1, although thinking of going for a husqvarna/Aprila motard for a season... Seem like it would be a fun ass time beating one for the summer.

Dr. Greg will be getting a used 2011 Ducati Multistrada 1200S "Touring" model for his 65th birthday. That will be on September 8, 2012.

Until then it's the '06 Uly. Oughta have 100K miles by then.

Just formulated that plan last night. Man, I'm smart...

likely I'd get a Busa...lots of outside help for that bike, lol.

I'll have to put on some more weight for that bike as I'd look tiny on it. The size would be nice for my two up's.

I like the Duc's sound but I usually have a passenger, one of my loves for buell cuz I don't want my kids or wife getting scorched hands or legs from the pipes. The KTM is nice but it looks like the mold fell in a bin of razor blades and they reproduced it anyway......
