so tonight i ride a really twisty road,i used to drive it to work in 2004 for a couple months.now being a noob,i still was at or over (a bit) LOL over the speed limit the whole way. of course a ford EXPEDITION is on my ass the whole way.i was being cautious of falling rocks, deer, elk and oncoming cars.he didnt care, went by me at near 70 mph.this road has a few spots the limit is 45. i gave him the finger,i am not going to let a tailgater keep pressuring me to ride in a way that is out of my limits.narrow road too,so cant even pull over.what a jerk. |

I'm not implying anything, but ball bearings are very useful for things. |

Usually in situations like that I just wave nicely as they rush by. More than once I have caught up with them either pulled over by the fuzz, or upside down in a ditch. Either way I roll past and wave nicely again. |

Next time, turn on your turn signals...pull over and let them pass...pull back on the road, follow them...get the tag number and call the highway patrol and report them for road rage...they WILL be investigated. I know...i'm gonna get flamed...but think of it this way...if some does that and the rider crashes from either being distracted or frightened....Mr (or Ms) is a murderer...report asshats!! |

Tag # will get you their address. Go to their house and visit them in the middle of the night. Ahh, come on, for a talk. I didn't say knock on the door at 3:00 in the mornin' an' crack their head with a ball bat, did I? Become their friend and gain their trust. Never mention the incident on the road. Be creative in extracting your payment for the inconvenience. Think about it. Are all your friends really your friends? How well do you know them? Can you remember why you met them? I call it being a ghost. Come on, we are all twisted. Paranoia is scarier than a baseball bat. Remember, you can not stop faster than a 2 1/2 ton beast that is on your six. |

The problem I have here in the Midsouth, is these people just dont care. If you piss them off they will hit you... period. You really dont have a leg in the fight. Best solution is to GET AWAY from them however you choose. No matter how headstrong you may be about your lane position, speed, ethics, it means nothing to them and they will hit you... PERIOD. right and wrong do not apply here. Road rage runs rampant here in Memphis. |

Usually, not ALL of the time, a look directly at them over my shoulder & then a hand waving them back gets them to back off. After that, I'm looking for the 1st chance available to get out of their way. Fact is that you will LOSE against someone in a cage, so let them know they are crowding you & then get out of their way as soon as you can. Giving them a finger, dropping ball bearings, throwing pennies or sparkplugs, etc., etc., DOES have the possibility of making you feel better, but it's an even greater possibility of elevating the situation to a point where you will LOSE. Just my opinion & YMMV. |

This seems to happen to me way too often. Most of the time I just leave their ass, but sometimes I just want to cruise, and that's when it really bothers me. |

I had a guy swerve so hard at me that he went into on coming traffic, while I was stopped waiting to make a left turn, all because I was in his lane making a turn on his way home from work, must have had a bad day. I turned my signal off and pulled beside him at the next light, found him on his phone. Told him how appreciative I was of him putting my life in danger, he said "I wish I would have hit you, I'll back up and run you over right now." Then he told me to pull over so we can fight, I told him I don't want to fight, I want to call the police and get your crazy a$$ off the road. This is when I hate people, people like this deserve to be beaten senseless. |

If someone behind you is making you uncomfortable, or wants to go faster than you are going, BFD: pull over and let them pass. Most of the time, I am overtaking a car, rather than the other way around. I have to say that in most cases, they will pull over and let me pass when they can. In fact, most drivers seem fairly considerate to me on a bike, if they are aware of my presence (a big if). No point in getting into it with anyone when you are on a bike. It's not where your head should be while you're riding. Life is too short to make it shorter. |

I have no problem with traffic, no problem riding in traffic, no problem even when people want to go faster than I'm going. I do have a problem when they start to intentionally f#^% with me. There sure are some arsehole drivers out there. Most of the time, tailgaters are easy fixes. On a multi lane highway in congested stop-and-go traffic, ride up the shoulder and pull back in a ways ahead. Otherwise, pull over and let them go by. |

when i get tailgated, i slow down.. it makes me easy to pass and if i do get hit i'd rather it be going slow than fast. |

I do have a problem when they start to intentionally f#^% with me. +1...That drives me nuts. If I got someone behind me being an ass, I slow waaaay down just to screw with them. In my cage once I was driving home from work. I was running 85 in the fast lane and this guy was right on my ass. Little did he know I had a Nextel and so did the two cars in front of me (best friend in one...brother in the other). Needless to say...no one on that interstate saw 40mph for almost 20 miles...we had all three lanes blocked. |

i was riding behind my girlfriend(she was in her car) when some drunk dude merged in to stop and go traffic at about 60 forcing my girlfriend onto the shoulder. then he started passing on the shoulder and ran a couple other cars almost into the ditch...while we were exiting i gave the guy the finger and next thing you know the guy is passing me on a residential street going about 60. he jumps into my lane and SLAMS on his brakes. I dodged his car by about a foot. he followed us into out parking lot(i wouldnt have gone home but i really really had to pee like really bad lol). I rushed my girlfriend into the apt he got in my face and said if i ever give him the finger again hes gonna slit my throat. but im moving soon and lets just say i have enough info to even things out afterwards |

I haven't bothered to look to see where all of you guys live...but here in Florida..aggressive driving is a felony...the FHP uses unmarked cars to watch for such antics....the safest thing is to get out of the way, get the tag number and description and turn em in...the same thing applies to Q-tips crawling down the road...if they are too old to drive, they need to be off the road...sounds cruel...but I know if I live long enuff, I will at some point need to turn in my keys too...in the end it don't really matter...a$$hats or Q-tips will get you KILLED! |

Remember, you can not stop faster than a 2 1/2 ton beast that is on your six. Problem is you can stop quicker... and you'll be wearing the beast. Lot's of macho talk for nothing. Either wave him past before he gets real stupid, pull into any driveway, or use the acceleration you've got in the bike. You'll be shaking, sweating and alive. Or you can have "I had right of way" written on your tombstone. On the road, on your bike, is not the place to take on a fight. Worse than "taking a knife to a gun fight". |

When someone drives too close behind me, I slow down to a speed that is safe for the distance he gave himself to stop. I then wave him around me. |

Iamarch', No you can't. When he gets stopped you get stopped. It was a point made by the instructor in one of the riding classes I took. Side by side you can, but not with him on your six. Best you can hope for is he stops quicker because you left him room. I totally agree with getting out of the way. |

Six as in 6 o'clock, as in right behind you? I think we're saying the same thing differently. You, on a bike, slam on the brakes. He slams on the brakes. When he comes to a full stop, he has already driven over you. You can stop faster, you should not try it. |

I'm not implying anything, but ball bearings are very useful for things. Glass marbles are more usefull. You can never find them after you're done with them. All joking aside, I would avoid the finger as it just pisses him off and he might decide to F with you and in the twisties (especially for a noob) is not a good place. |

avoid the finger as it just pisses him off +1 on that. I always get the intense urge to snap said finger from their hand. I'm getting better though, now I usually just blow them a kiss it drives them ape $hit Guess I'm starting to mellow with age |

Aggressive drivers are everywhere. This is what I do if someones on my butt and I dont want to go faster. I just move toward the shoulder and wave them by. I make a point to look at each driver as I pass to see what Im dealing with. If they are on a cell I keep my distance. If I see that the person following me is keeping a nice comfort zone I may stay where I am in traffic even if I want to go faster. |

This is the idiot I met today. Parked in front of my house for 2 days with surveilance equipment. He had a camera running and tried to get me to mess up in front of it with out this being on his film. I showed the cop my pics and gave them hard copies. I told them I wanted this clown out of my neighborhood. I had to keep my neighbor from dragging him out of the car. I explained to him later about what the guy was trying to do. My neighbors are pretty tight and they all want some. His Wisconsin plate # 857-ELX on a black VW Jetta |
