Johnnyp - I have some Storz products on my other Buells and they seem to be of excellent quality. I am unfamiliar with woodcraft. My Force pipe on my S1 broke a mount, which seems common, but they fixed it and seem to be very good people. I would need to see some of their carbon fiber before I bought any, refering to their website their seems to be some confusion about the actual material used, "underneath the air scoop is the Force Motor Products fiberglass oil cooler", and the performance claims they make regarding their CF products are not logical. You should probably see American Sport Bike or Buell for CF. | ||

Spyder...if he's not asking about the stack, then what is this " crazy velocity stack setup As for the rest of their stuff...I would trust them just based on the bullsh!t velocity stack that they claim is so great. Anyone with a quality reputation wouldn't sell that product. Just my $.02 worth. | ||

The stack that did nothing was the one that was modelled exactly from the stock XB9 design, all that really proved was that the airflow is good even with the misshapen rubber stack. I think it remains to be seen if the other one provides some real benefit. It would have been nice if Brian had tested them on Tilley's dyno, which he didn't, to substantiate the claims. The way I look at it is this, there are too few performance parts available for the XB to just dismiss new ones out of hand. OTOH I don't have an endless supply of cash to try every $300 part that claims to give a 2-4hp boost. For these reasons I like to have the chance to read/hear about everything available. | ||

I have emailed and spoken to Brion several times on stack designs. He seems like an OK guy to me. We don't agree on the approach of how to design these things, but there is no acrimony in our disagreement. Hell, he may be right. His partner Corey, has sent me a few emails that frankly made me, let's say "uncomfortable". I felt that the claims on their website were a bit overstated. That's just my opinion. How some of you guys can write a company off because they sell a stack that YOU yourself made controversial is beyond me. I find it poor taste that this kind of bigotry is allowed to function here, more so when comments like 'snake oil' are spoken by high ranking Buell 'oficials' directly after the question How about the rest of the stuff they sell? are they reputable and trustworthy? is asked. | ||

I am not a "high ranking Buell official" but I made one of the "snake oil" comments. If.....IF...these guys are who I think they are, I would avoid them like the plauge. That's my personal opinion. I was one of the first to knock their sales techniques & called the Nology wires they also sell snake oil. Corey has been posting lately on atc & has seemed to mellow quite a bit. Even admitted that he has been as asshole & he used those words. I still dont think the stack is worth jack shit, but if you have the $$$ to blow then by all means get nutz. | ||

The only controversy I see around here is people setting up profiles in an attempt to push their products or to persuade the members of this board. I have noticed 3 different people who have only posted once each. The reference to 'snake oil' was made immediately after that question was asked, thus it implies putting down DFK Performance, a company who sell a multitude of motorcycling products manufactured by companies from all around the world. Custodian its not within your fathoming that the snake oil comment was directed strictly towards the stack which was asked about in the very first post of the thread. That the author of said comment had not read any further down the thread beyond those words due mearly by the fact that stack has a tainted history on this board? If you were unclear as to whether the comment was about DFK's other products or the stack itself it would have been more prudent and showed more restraint on your part to ask directly what the comment was in reference to rather then ASS U MEing it was about DFK. Now if my thoughts are wrong then I expect Court to tell me. Maybe I am the one ASS U MEing incorrectly. But see thats the beauty of ASS U MEing things. | ||

WOW you guys ALL get so wound up. I only wanted to see if they were reputable as a company. The only way I knew to associate the company was by a crazy velocity stack they sell. I could care less about the stack or snake oil. I stick to facts by the techs who install and by the dyno that proves it! Seat of pants is great until it comes race time, then I want to KNOW what I have in my motor. We are lucky to have some great companies as sponsors of this board, just hoping there are more companies of similar reputation. ...I step off my box now.. |
