Ok roll with me here and imagine this.....you sit on your xb, turn the key and you get that whine for 3ish seconds as the needles go round the clock and reset then it shuts up. 1st what the hell is that whine?? 2nd When I then press the starter button the bike jumps to life and the whine comes back, is THAT normal?? Jesus you must think I'm a paranoid retard or summut........lol |

What's the difference between your wife knocking at the front door and your dog scratching at the back door? Let the dog in he'll *quit* whining.

Incidentally my "yes" was in response to the second question, not the implied 3rd question. |

My fuel pump sounds like one of those unlicensed nuclear accelerators they used in Ghost Busters. Coolness.. edited by hootowl on December 04, 2003 |

I'll just chime in here and say that some people have had that whine deteriorate over time until it's no longer noticeable while the bike is on, others still have it. Either way, nothing to worry about. Buy a slip-on and you'll never hear it again. LOL |

Bryan makes a good point there, I have never noticed the whine after the bike has started, only on the pre-flight system check ! |

Hey Stevie, They all do that, when you turn on the ignition you hear it priming the system, making sure theres enough pressure in the fuel rail to start, and once you start it its doing that continuously. Mine varies sometimes its loud and sometimes not, My bike is the same month/year/model/colour as yours, in fact they probly rolled off assembly line one after the other! Tis nothing to be worried about, after all the loud zorst should drown it alllll out once youre moving. You havent mentioned the fan yet though... Cya Stot+-

In my case, the fuel pump has gotten quieter over time. Totally normal what you describe.
