Hey guys, I'm planning on ordering a front fairing mount to convert my Ss to an R. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a year that had a charcoal gray or silver fairing mount. I'm hoping to get one that will match the dark gray frame on my Ss, or maybe match my silver seat rails.

If not, is there a black one? I'd prefer not to get the magnesium color (changing it all to silver on mine at some point).

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they're all magnesium-colored seeing as how they're made out of magnesium.

The '03s MAY have been silver, but any one I've seen has been the mag color.

I think the 09s are black...but that is the only other color I know of besides the mag color.

Nope, I was wrong. Just looked on the Buell website, still the mag color.

I thought they were powder coated aluminum made to look like magnesium? Like the S cheese graters and plates around the timing cover? I know those are aluminum, because I've seen them polished out. Why would the fairing mount be the only real magnesium piece?

not sure why, but they are.

every firebolt i have seen with a stock mount is the same. get any year you want. even the 09 we sold still had a tanish colored mount. i dont have an 09 parts book yet, but the 03-08 all use the same part number.

Magnesium is stronger than aluminum and lighter than steel.

Don't do the match flame test.

Macgyver turned a mag bicycle + road flare into a blow torch : )

Huh. Well, that's good to know then. I got a price quote today, and they're only about $40 new, so that's good. I just nabbed a non-damaged Firebolt fairing off Ebay for $65 total, so I guess I'm on my way!

Thanks for the info!
