If someone was to use the search feature they could find several pictures along with a couple of how-to posts.
Along with another pic of mine.

I know, I'm a smart ass ; )

Mine came out of the Buell Barn looking just like that.

OK, so what if you want to go the other way, and put the S front end (headlights et al) on an R? Point me in the right direction...

You mean like this one?

ss

You don't have to black the whole thing out like LoneXB did, but you might just as well.

Am I right, my brothers?

What are you going to do with the ECM??

There is no room for that mod unless you get an S harness.

Charlie's right, of course.

I Thought you meant an S tail on an R, not an S front on an R.

This is getting a little confusing, isn't it?

Bottom Line: you can do what ever the hell you want if you have enough skill and of course, enough money.

Yeah, I have an R, but I don't like the front fairing- it plays mind tricks, doesn't turn with the handlebars... I know, I know, I'm not supposed to LOOK at it when I am turning- but it's BRIGHT blue, for heaven's sake. I can't seem to help it!

BTW Glitch, love your personal quote

Kyri,

The problem is that they designed the R first, and some genius thought it was a great idea to put the ecm, the fuse box and other stuff in the front fairing.

Then they designed the S, and put that stuff under the seat.

They should have designed the bikes so that they both used the same wiring harness, but that is hind sight, and they did not.

Therefore, putting a Lightning front on a Firebolt requires a lot of work.

As Charlie suggests, The easiest way is to probably replace the entire wiring harness with a Lightning harness, and relocate the electrics in the Firebolt seat, where they will all fit, (snugly).

You might be able to put them in the airbox, but I don't know if any one has actually done it.

That's too cool that you would do that. But I really have to learn to ride this thing a little better before I start modifying it. What if I want to sell it? There's no market for a modded Buell! ::snicker snicker::

Here is an especially tasty XB12S with an R front end on it. The conversion was performed by Keith Korbin (aka Kedo)

If the front faring bothers you, cut it down ala No_rice.

Quite fetching, really.

Even without a drive belt. : D

The really hard part is actually deciding on what some of these hybrid bikes should be called..."Bolting"? "XB12RScg"? "Firing"? "XB9SRTT"? "Lightning Bolt"?

Let the fun ensue!

In seriousness, I look forward to winter because it means I can get started on some of the projects I have in mind -- such as my new tail for instance. Hurray for snow!

I'd call it a "lightning-bolt", if it were mine... Oh yea, it is mine. Yea, Skully - VERY nice rear pulley! VERY sexy.

That pulley is a major improvement. Visually opens up the rear wheel. A much lighter airy look. You can see through it so well it almost looks like the rear brake is built into it.

Thanks guys! That pulley is the result of nearly a year's worth of effort. We are currently gearing up for a production run after much finite element analysis and many thousands of miles on four prototype pulleys.

Keith Korbin (Kedo) was the inspiration behind the pulley as well as the slogan "Parts that protect and propel". He worked with us to get the look that mimics the rear wheel to give it that open and airy look.

Not only does it look good, it is lighter than stock! Combine it with our hidden brake caliper mount and it really cleans up the rear of the bike.

Here is the pulley on on my bike:

And here is a black one:
