I want to make my headlamp more visible to others. Does anyone know of a kit or anything that allows the light to surge or flicker like some headlamps do?

Just really wanting to know what is offered out there for the headlamps for my buell cause I want to increase my visibility.

You can switch the low beam wire with the unused running light wire which will allow you to have both low beam and hi beam on at the same time. So, switch to hi beam get both lights, switch to low beam and just get low beam. Takes no more than 5 minutes! I don't know anything about the flicker.

Great kit, easy to install. I've had one on my Ss for a few years now. If you get one, do yourself a favor and get the biggest one. That way you can add more lights to it later on without needing a new/separate modulator. I got the bare minimum, and now that I want more lights, I'm gonna' have to spend extra if I want more than one bulb pulsing.

I tapped off of my headlight line (Firebolt low runs all the time) for some running lights.
Is there a true running light wire up front? I'd like to switch them over to that if there is one.

Modulation is one option.. I've never installed one, but I know they annoy the hell outta me when a motorists pulls up behind me.. definitely catches my attention..

Another option would be an HID kit...After looking at some of the other threads on badweb, I decided to install one.. It's a great mod.

Just do a search on HID and you should get some good threads about it.

I Love my HID's. Have only had them for about a week, and I am still adjusting them, so that they give me the most light down the road, while not blinding others.
I feel that Courtesy is huge on the road, they are very bright, so if you are not careful they could end up being a detriment in our case, as opposed to being able to be seen.

If you blind people, they cant see anything, including us bikers.

So HID's great, just be responsible and nice with them.

I night ride around twice a week in the San Diego county, our nights are warm and the moon is full and I just can't resist.

I am really apprehensive on certain roads that have the black asphalt. It is amazing how much light the black absorbs. Second complaint is Buell OEM lights suck and thirdly they can’t go around turns they are always pointed forward (rhetorical statement).

I have wired my lights so that the low stays on continuously and this will permit my bike to have both bulbs burn when I select high. But even with this there is not enough light coming from my bike.

So, I just purchased and installed the 1000XT Piaa driving lights. WOW; and let me say it again, WOW. These lights are very bright and very white and they light everything up!

With the Piaa wiring, they provide the 20A fuse and a switch relay which is very cool. I use my low/high beam switch (high selected energizes the relay) to energize the system and then the Piaa switch to go from on to off. While driving with all four lights burning and a car is approaching, all I use is the low/high toggle switch to go from four to one (low) and then back after the car passes.

I have the lights adjusted so that they light up the lines (yellow/white). When in a turn I can still stay on my line around the turn because of these added lights.

I just ordered new H7 Piaa super white bulbs and was waiting to do a thread showing pics of low/high/driving, from driver perspective and from the front.

That is EXACTLY what I've been wanting! For the exact same reasons.

Where did you attach you Piaa's at? Did those brackets come with the lights or is it something you rigged up? Can I get a close up? Where did you mount your switch at? No troubles with vibration?

I've already done the hi/low both lights mod, and am still needing light in turns at night. I've been looking for lights I can mount into the holes for the turn signals (mine are on the barends)

And before I forget, nice job!

The Piaa are attached at the blinker location. My lights are the 1000XT, I was also considering the 004X. The 1000 have the glass lens.

The bracket for the driving lights are from piaa and were included. The ones for the blinker I fab'd.

The Piaa switch is located above the low/high beam switch and is secured with double back tape that was provided. In the future if this location works out I will permanently secure it to the switch housing.

Three places for Piaa lights:
1-ebay, this is were I got this set.

I will include pics of the wiring loom that was provided. Mounting of the switch and mounting of the lights.

You will notice I had to run the wiring thru the shock mount location. I recently installed a Bosch 4-wire O2 sensor and what ever space that was available on the left side following the stock wiring was used.

You will also notice the extra throttle cable I have around the neck of the bike. After installing Pro Taper MX bars the cables were short, so I had to reroute the cables behind my light/fairing housing leaving me with alittle extra.

Headlight modifiers out there heres something to look out for. Im the guy who made the cad part and drawing for the susqehanna light mod for the xb. I used the 85 watt bulbs and after about 2 years of use, the connector under the instruments that branches out to the two lights melted. Luckily, this did not happen while driving. I replaced the connector with .25" flat push in connectors. Im going to switch over to xenon eventually to lower the amp draw.

awesome, exactly the info I was looking for.

ill be doing the easy mod right away, then I'll probably get the modulator to make them pulse later on in the year.

I tried to remove the pins, but found that it was easier and quicker to cut and splice. Just figured its my bike, so cut'n splice.

you could also just add the white reflective adheavise strips to the hand guards. They flash back into a set of headlights like nobody's business.
