Final-drive gearing is lowered about eight percent from the 1125R to optimize acceleration. Its sinister styling will make this bike unmistakable on the street. New on Buell XB Streetfighters Buell XB Lightning Streetfighters, powered by an air/oil/fan-cooled Thunderstorm V-Twin, get a menacing new look thanks to a blacked-out frame, forks, engine and other components. Lightning models powered by the Thunderstorm 1203 engine upgrade to the Buell ZTL2 front brake with four-pad, eight-piston caliper, a design that debuted on the 1125R in 2008. The XB12Ss gets fitted with the same supermoto-inspired suspension as the 2008 XB12STT, and the new seat on the 2009 XB9SX lowers the seat height by 1.3 inches to 30.1 inches. New on Buell Sportbikes The Buell 1125R, powered by the 146-hp, liquid-cooled Buell Helicon 1125cc V-Twin engine, is available in new body and wheel colors and with tinted windscreens for 2009. Also new for 2009 on the 1125R and 1125CR models are targeted fuel injectors, relocated O2 sensors, and updated engine spark and fuel maps. The combination of these features offers improved drivability below 6000 rpm, even crisper throttle response, improved heat management, and significantly improved fuel economy. The Firebolt XB12R, powered by the air/oil/fan-cooled Thunderstorm 1203cc V-Twin, has a new blacked-out frame, swingarm, powertrain, forks and other components. New on Buell Adventure Sportbikes The sport-touring Buell Ulysses XB12XT, introduced mid-year 2008, joins the versatile, all-road Ulysses XB12X in the 2009 Buell Adventure Sportbike category. Both models feature new aluminum footpegs with an aggressive "sawtooth" pattern. The new Buell Ulysses Police XB12XP is a "special duty" motorcycle intended for government agencies and private security firms requiring a quick and very nimble pursuit-and-patrol vehicle capable of travel over a variety of road surfaces. It comes equipped with a special wiring harness for easy installation of an Emergency Response Kit, which includes special compact, hard-shell top and side cases, a siren, and LED police pursuit lamps. New Drive Belt All 2009 Buell XB models will be fitted with a new, more durable Veyance Hibrex drive belt with Flexten Plus technology, the same belt technology that was originally developed for the Buell 1125R. The only Buells without the ztl2 are the city-x and the blast. Now we know why they were only building the 08 1125r at homecoming. We couldn't have helped noticing the changes. | ||

looks like you can no longer order different color body panels. I noticed that there's a 500 price increase on the xb scg when you go from the black to the trans red. 500 is a lot for the tank cover and windscreen... I think MSRP was about 260 when you were able to purchase them before. (Message edited by xl_cheese on July 22, 2008) | ||

I think they should have done that for the xbs also but that was deffinatly needed for the 1125 bikes. | ||

Man! I really should have held out for another year for the black framed XB9SX....Thats what I want! Does the blue and red colors look different compared to the 08 and earlier colors? I do love some of the changes they made as well as additional accessories, but I do not like that they now do not sell the different colored air box covers like they have in the past. First off, I know this has been the rumor for a while, but no XB12S? Wow. Also, is it just me or is the 1125CR not naked enough? I might just be picky, but one of the many things I really like about the XBs is the sheer lack of anything resembling a fairing. Now don't get me wrong, had I not just got my XB, I may be one of the first in line for that bike. | ||

well unless you take the plastic off of the radiators (which im sure you could do) i dont think you can make it much more naked. but then again it may be pretty ugly with the radiators exposed. | ||

The new XBs have way too much black! Everything that was silver or gold before is now black. It just looks bland. I'm jealous of the new ZTL2 brakes. And they now finally include frame pucks as standard. | ||

theres never too much black, besides now every thing matches were as having ever thing all these different colors made the bikes look like the were just pieced together from a box of left over parts some were. that was most seen by the lightnings with the subframe not matching the frame and the forks not matching them and the engine cover not matching them. now it all matches and does so well. | ||

Too much black on the white XB12R. The black motor works for me on the black 12R. I also don't care for the CR much. The radiator intakes look even bigger with the smaller front, especially in red. Man, I wish they left the Artic White and Blue combo on the XB only. I'm happy with my 08 still. | ||

I liked the silver frame of the old XB9SX. Now this makes the decision all the more difficult. Look for an 07 without all the 08 updates to the engine and no blue wheels? Find an 08 with the updates that eliminate TPS troubles but replace them with a new batch of fun and lower MPG? Or just go for the new Bruise Blue CityX (or XB12Ss with the new suspension)? | ||
