I was trying to get a 08 xb12s and there is none left in Canada so I told my dealer to look at the 09 and get me one of the first one available, well he looked at it to get told Buell is no longer making the xb12s in 09. There will be xb12Ss, ScG, STT but no S that make absolutely no sense!

So my option are right now a xb12 Ss or a Scg, I dont really like the longer look of the Ss (I know it is very useful and comfy but I am locked on a S) and I dont need the lower suspension of the cG so what should I do.

If I was buying a Lightning I'd want the S as well. I feel your pain.

If you're dead set on a S your best bet might be to hunt down another 08 or earlier.

Well there is no 08 left available in Canada and Buell and Harley are so f$%@#g dumb or smart they made different serial# type to differentiate the Cdn and American bike so we cant get down the state to buy a cheaper one cause if we do we will not get any service at a Cdn dealer unless we have a USA address

Find a Bueller in a neighboring state with a US address.

Odd that they would pull the S model first.

If you do have to end up getting the SS, you will at least get the larger fuel capacity.

Yep but I have a hard getting over the look, I know it is minor things but the tail isnt looking as good as the S. Right now I should be signing the Ss on monday but I am having some nightmare about making the wrong choice plus the geometrie is alot different on the Ss compare to the S which is one of the reason I want the S because there is no or very fiew other street bike with such a radical geometrie

Not to mention a more comfortable saddle, too. Frankly, unless the two models are parked next to one another, I can't tell them apart unless I do a close examination. And I OWN an XB12Ss.

Werewulf the problem is no more xb12s in 09 so if I want brand new well it as to be 08 and there is almost no used 12 s around here. I saw one 08 used and t5he guy is asking 12 500 when here the bikes are going for 11 200 brand new

I guess my biggest question right now is what is most important, getting that radical geometry I like so much but with less suspension travel or get the same suspension travel with less radical geometry

I am tempted to get down the States but I wont be able to get warranty work done on my bike here because they are protecting the Canadian dealer

Well yeah it is going to be called the 1125cr for cafe racer but I really like the air cooled motor and I dont really want to take the guess that I will like the look of the bike since I cant stand the look of the 1125r

nope but I think ill deal with the lower suspension and get a cg, not that I didnt like the Ss I mean it handle very well but not as fast as the S. You have to take in concideration that Im comming off a supermoto bike so radical geometry on the street is what I like

Bear in mind that the Ss is STILL pretty radical in geometry. The only time the word "more stable" comes into play is when compared against other Buells. When compared against other brand bikes out there (even the old tube framed Buells) it is STILL a pretty radical bike. Just with a more comfortable seat and you won't have to stop and refuel so often. That's not a bad thing.

I'd say get the Scg. And ride it for a while, if you don't like the suspension or ride hieght, then buy some replacement parts for an S or R and turn it into a S.

I say wait until the 09s are announced. It's not long to wait.
It is not unlikely that the dealer got wrong info.

Removing the S (but keeping the cg) is not impossible but very improbable. I'll believe it only when I see it with my own eyes.

If it turns out to be true you could opt to get a cg and trade parts with a standard S owner that wants the shorter suspension.
(happens here a lot).

On Edit: Yes the cg has less suspension travel but if you put a standard seat on it (I recommend the Select) the ergos are Exactly the same as the standard when you're riding her. Lean angle is'nt badly effected. A wee bit less soft contact (when pegs drag) but hard contact (when things other than pegs start dragging) is exactly the same between the two.

Second Edit: I have a cg and there is only one road that is nothing but buckled concrete and potholed asphalt that makes me long for more suspension travel.
On all the other roads, the lower suspension has been a non issue. I can't really tell the difference except when I stop and my feet are planted firmly with a slight bend to my knees.

Try and double check your salesman's story. Because there are none left to order does not mean that there are none in other stores' inventory.

My local can't order but they are ready to bring one from another store.

Check the Buell.ca site and check nearby stores. I almost went to Alberta to pick one up but the prices there are scary.

Autotrader.ca lists some but they seem high priced. I found mine on kijiji.ca.

I was under the Impression that STT was not a good seller..

I've heard buell has authorized dealers in some case to change out plastics, etc...

Basically make them a SS

Other option is the CityX. That still uses the old geometry/frame. There are plenty of people here who'll tell you the "9" motor is a lot more fun than the "12" too. If you rode Supermotos, you would probably feel right at home on a CityX.

Aside from Anony coming in here and posting otherwise I think he may be lying in order to get you to buy an SS?

In any case I agree with you. I think you should stick with the S and don't worry about getting the low (Scg). I've put about 50K miles on a firebolt and about 6K on an Scg. I really like the Scg a lot : ).

I wouldn't trade the Firebolt for one because it's a tad more fun in the twisties, but the Scg is more than a tad more fun around town : ).

Oh and : ), with the Scg you'll be able to get a better launch and a bit more acceleration without getting the front wheel off the ground : ).

Hahahaha... sorry man, I feel your pain. I had EXACTLY the same problem. I live in Vancouver and wanted a black '08 SS. They didn't have any and I finally managed to get Steve Drane in Victoria to hook me up with the last one in Canada... it had to be shipped from somewhere out east. Maybe talk to Steve Drane about it... I found they were a bit more willing to help me out than my local dealers in Vancouver.

If you are larger then the average hobbit then you probably won't be comfortable on the cg. How do you guys ride those things? They are so small and cramped. I don't think I could ride my Ss if I were an inch or two taller.

Like others have said the Ss is still a pretty quick handling bike. I don't ride mine and think of how sluggish it changes direction.

I'm 5'8" and I think I would be a bit more comfortable on the Scg if I was two inches shorter.

It has the low seat though so I think it would be fine if it was just the regular Scg seat.

Scgs are for the "Inseamed Challenged"! I'm 5'10 but have shorter then usual legs and I fit just fine on mine... but when I pillion my 5'9 inch wife... it is a bit snug!

How did this Canadian dealer get the lowdown on the '09 models before the July Dealers Meeting? There has been no leakage of the '09 model line up anywhere else on the web... believe me... I've looked!

My guess is the dealer is lying to get you to buy a bike he has on the floor.
