As funny as y'all are being -- the point of the thread wasn't to debate the issue or provide fixes/advice, it's a chance for people to post what they choose to do for their motorcycles, and maybe the thinking behind those choices. If you think there is another item to add to the list then post it with your list and those who want can edit to include it (pipe/ECM/airfilter seem good additions to me). Please don't 'jack the thread and turn it into a rehash old topics thread -- if you don't want to post what you run then move along, resisting the obviously overwhelming urge to futz with a good idea.

1) Tire pressures - 34ish/36ish 2) Tire recommendations - I prefer Metzler M3s 3) Oil Change Intervals. - 2500 miles 4) Brands of oils recommendations - H-D 5) Transmission Fluid Intervals - 2500 miles 6) Transmission Fluid recommendations - H-D 7) Belts vs Chains - Belts, No need for lube, adjustment, sprocket changes 8) The proper application of Teflon Tape. - Never used it, so dont know! 9) Spring loaded vs. Fixed belt tensioners - Dont really know what the difference between the two is 10) Exhaust - I prefer stock. Has a mean growl, but not the ear splitting DBs. |

I saw a Buell going the other way last night on HWY60. If it's any of y'all give me a shout out, I never see Buells around here, and want someone to ride with. All my friends ride Jap Bikes, and make fun of me. |

"All my friends ride Jap Bikes, and make fun of me." I'm beginning to find that guys don't need to ride jap bikes to make fun of me. I had a guy on a scooter (wearing a pink and blue bicycle helmet) pull up next to me, grin and say, "Now that's a Scooter man, its even loud like a motorcycle." |

I had an idea similar to this but in the form of a spread sheet. Is there anyway we could publicly host an excel document somewhere that had all the categories mentioned above, listed on the left side. Badwebers could then access it, add their information and save it. I personally would like to see riders weights and suspension set ups along with tires tried (including mileage) and tire of choice. A spreadsheet like this, while not so helpful to the experienced XB rider, would definately help out the newbies and perhaps stop some of the noob questions that we are all taking the piss out of, "my Firebolt shakes a lot when I turn it on." Alternatively a template spreadsheet could be set up which we could all access, fill in, then mail to some poor bastard who then copy/pastes the data onto the big spreadsheet. This plus a 'common problems and solutions' badweb written manual would cut down on a lot of bull$&#$. I never really saw the point of the knowledge vault. If people titled their posts better, "front brake pulsating" NOT "I have a problem" we could just use the search function like most other forums. |

All this and nobody has mentioned MUD yet? Thick, chunky, cloppy, ploppy, red clay mud, caked on, dried on, left for miles. best applied by riding said bike off road There I know I feel better |

Does anyone have any suggestions on running a different weight oil or type of oil in the summer time?? I live an hour south of hotlanta....and it's really, really hot down here already. I think the temp of the bike is ok @ highway speeds, but the stop and go traffic it seems to be getting pretty hot. With no temp gauge I can't tell if it's getting TOO hot. Right now running the HD Syn 3. |
