I have about 2200 miles on my 07 XB9SX and am planning a trip to chicago from DC, which is about 700 miles. Should I be ok on tire life for the round trip?

I think so, i have run my tires for about 4500 miles before they really start to show wear. One thing is that you will probibly see a flat spot in th emiddle of you r rear tire by the end of hte trip. If you hit some twisty roads on the way back you will be ok and avoid the flat spot . other than that you will do fine. I rode form lexington park maryland to atlanta georgia and back with no problems adn when i left my tires had about 2600 miles on them. good luck

Yea - Vxsarin - I have just put on my third set or Pirelli's. I ride hard and the first two sets went 3500 miles each. Yea, you'll probably get that flat spot Sub65chris was talking about. I call that "squaring-off" but I always look for twisties to round them out again. Have fun.

I got 8000 miles on my first set of stock Diablos. Wore the rear down to the first belt. I started to see rubber shredding in little slivers down the center of the rear tire 500 miles before the belt showed. My buddies and I all remarked that when they start to go, they go fast. New tires are so nice!

Sarin when are you going? I'm going to make a DC to CHI (final destination would be Kenosha, actually) run one of these weekends whenever i can get a mon or fri off. It'd be cool to roll with someone.

ps - the 700mi isn't so bad. I've done this exact ride a few times already, and anything over 300mi in one day all feels the same to me. Just dont forget your earplugs (they make a HUGE difference), and take an asprin and ibuprofen at about every other gas stop.

Just use the road stripes as a slalom. You should keep the tires nicely rounded.

Just pick the painkiller with the most caffeine in it. It'll absorb faster and keep your mind from wandering. Painkillers are usually packaged with caffeine to aid in absorbtion.

I just put 5,602 miles on my last set of Scorpions.

The rear tire could have made it to 6000 and the front probably could have made it to 6,500 but with the rain coming I figured I'd be better off with some fresh rubber.

Aw, too bad! I wont be able to make it this weekend (i *really* need a new rear first - 10k on my diablo stradas). But I'm going to make a trip out there before it gets TOO cold, as in within the next month or so, if you're interested. I'll keep ya posted.

Think we could muster the stones for a Thanksgiving week run?

I'm at almost 5kmi now. Front looks fine, rear is showing some wear. I expect i'll get 6-7kmi out of them.

Hmmm Speaking of tires. Can anyone recommend a good web site to order a Pirelli Scorp Sync from?

I've got about 5K on my Pirelli Scorpion Syncs right now and they look like they'll go another 3K. The "Florida Flat Spot" might set in by then tho!

No_rice, I am at 2300 or so now, and my tires barely look used. Yeah, I ride easy mostly because it is all city driving. I'm imagining I get at LEAST 5k out of them.

I love the traction of my new Diablo Strada's. I hope they last!

Diablo Stradas will definately last. I think some people get a little caught up in the emotion of tyres as they will definately NOT handle full lean power without stepping out.
