Ok, so, if the rumors are correct about a new sportbike model and the price is somewhat reasonable, what are you going to do with your current XB or tuber? They are already extremely difficult to sell and are worth very little as trade-ins. I'm going to try and sell mine for as much as possible if the new model is what I expect it to be, but I couldn't sell it last year for the little 5 grand I was asking for. It only had 2300 miles on it then.

Who knows, you could get lucky. In the mid '80's I had a bevel drive 900SS that was one of the worst motorcycles I ever owned. Perfect for the 6'3" rider with a 25" inseam. Anyway, I couldn't have gotten rid of that bike with the key in the ignition and the title on the seat in a bad neighborhood. After Ducati introduced the belt drives, the old bevels became very desirable. I was able to sell it for more than I paid new. Not saying that will happen with the Buells, but we can hope. I don't plan on doing anything with my ULY except riding it the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway next week.

Then don't..The price of a new Buell is about the same as financing a Hyundai Excel. My point is that for less than $200/mo. you could finance a new Buell for 4 years.Just keep the old lump.Or sit on it till you get what you want. Why give the old bike away just to be rid of it?

Unless storage space or finances are limited, why dump a low mileage bike? What are your costs to keep it, a small amount of depreciation and insurance?

Of course all of those factors mean nothing to the wife factor if applicable.

keep XB.

Buy new Buell "superbike" if it's a v-twin with 140+ RWHP and less than 16k

If not you will see me on a RC8 or maybe a 1098 by the end of the year.

BArker,
Just wondering what color RC8 or 1098 you plan on buying???

As to see 140 RWHP in a Production Buell this year You are having a pipe dream to say the least

Man, I LOVE my XB. I am sure there are BWBr's out there with models that preceded ours that still LOVE their bikes too. I've scanned the Old School Forum and haven't seen any posts where people were saying... "man, if I had known that the XB's were coming, I would have never bought this lump"... The XB's are amazing and the next generation will probably be amazing in their own right. Either way, I am excited to see what's coming. I spoke with the sales manager at the local dealership and we can look forward to that news before the end of the month. Cool.

I don't know.
I need to see, hear and test ride a bike before I buy. I can get excited on paper but only committed in person.

The XB is paid off, but I won't allow myself to get a new one without selling it first because I hate payments! Yes, 200 bucks a month isn't too bad, but worse than 0 dollars a month! Maybe HD/Buell will give a decent trade since it is one of their bikes!

Nothing on two wheels will EVER replace my XB lump, it's because of that usable street power thing that the twin produces. I feel Buell was correct the first time around.: )

If anything The XB will have an h20 cooled stable mate.

I for one, will NOT be buying one in the near future.

The reason is, I have sunk a fortune in Lil Blackie, and with the Hal's chain conversion, full Ohlins suspension, and about 50 other mods, the only thing the new bike has is more speed, and a six gear speed box and more fuel capacity, and slipper clutch.

At age 66, I do not need more speed. There I said it.

I really hate to admit it, but I am not using all the power I have right now.

I can ride " The Pace" with my buddies, all younger on faster bikes, so there wouldn't be much point to it.

That being said, I can easily imagine that most younger guys won't be happy until they have one, I know I wouldn't be if I were a bit younger.

Mark my words. The XBs', as underwhelming as their power and innovations seem now, they were technological marvels when first released and there is no other motorcycle like it. If Buell does what a lot of you are begging for this weekend, this new bike will be closer to the bikes we bought our bikes to be different from. The XB line will then become a priceless jewel.

What you gonna to do?

Probably buy a Suzuki. There isn't a great replacement for my 1998 S3T. The Uly is great except I refuse to get another H-D produced motor. There are still too many problems with that lump. I can buy a leftover V-Strom for under $7600. Even if I only ride it for a year, I'll most likely be even on the bike. If the new Buell motor is reliable (and it's available in the Uly model), then I might return to the Buells.

Oh yeah...I'm keeping the S1W and my wife's Blast.

I agree (from what I can see), they do LOOK a lot like the "me too" bikes. I like different and XB's are different IN EVERY SENSE!

Some day, I hope to by a 97ish X1 Lightning.
For a new bike, It's Uly all the way, but I won't sell my Ss any time soon.

I havn't had enough adventures on my 05 Scg to get rid of her just yet.
The new bike looks like everything I've always wanted in a sportbike but I can wait a few years.
It would be an excellent second "romping" bike but not a replacement for my current "paid for" bike : )

I'm going to buy a 06/07 12Ss next to my 04 12R.

I've had a RSV Mille with the Rotax before, it's like riding on an average bike with no character.

No Rotax with the looks of a R6 for me.

What I'll do is keep my 2006 XB12Ss (that I just bought) because it's a better bike than the 1125. Wait! Hear me out. It's a better bike for me. I'm tired of high-revving, complex engines. I don't want to spend time and money adjusting valves. I don't want to deal with lubing chains, adjusting chains, and replacing chains and sprockets. I don't want to deal with water pumps, radiators, and flushing cooling systems.

I want a simple, lightweight bike with a wide spread of torque that comes on at low RPMs. I want something that lets me cruise the highway at 3K RPM and still have fun when I get to the twisties. The Buell XB12Ss meets my needs nicely.

I long ago gave up on the idea that I had to have the fastest bike made. I'm not Valentino Rossi or Jake Zemke. Never will be. I hope that Buell is able to get a lot of sales with their new bike and that they have enough sense to keep their air-cooled line alive and well. If the changes made to the air-cooled engines for 2008 can be retrofitted to my 2006 bike, I may do that -- or I may just leave it alone and ride it.

I was seriously considering selling my 9R to buy an RC51 or TL1000R before this announcement. I wanted to see what the extra horsepower would be like on a sport v-twin.
Lo and behold, here comes a liquid-cooled Buell. Hmmm...what to do?

I think I'll wait and see what bugs need to be worked out.
I bought my XB when they first came out, I have the third one delivered to GA.
Since then the throttle bodies have gotten bigger, the suspension has gotten better, the transmission has been re-made, the belt system has been improved greatly.
So I'll wait for the 2010 model before I buy one.
Or maybe not...
Either way, I'll not be getting rid of my XB9S.

I'll keep my '03 XB9S for now. The 1125R doesn't interest me, but a smaller version probably would. XB7S? New Blast?

Local Craigslist has no surge of XB for-sales yet. It will be interesting to check it over the next week or so.

+1 to what Fmaxwell said.

Given my incurable MBS (currently the XB9SX shares garage space with a Sportster and my Wife's Vespa), I can see the possibility of an 1125 being fitted into the garage some day, once most of the new-model kinks get worked out, but I got my XB9SX because it already provides what I want from a motorcycle (streetable power, handling, economy) without a bunch of stuff I don't want (I am sooo burned out on chain maintenance, and not interested in doing or paying for valve adjustments).

I'm glad it looks like Buell will be able to compete in the Sportbike market without every review ending with cracks about stone-age lumps providing power. I'm also glad I've got a great Streetbike that is powered by a stone-age lump

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

I have began work on talking the wife into riding the xb12r. She likes riding on it behind me. Once she does she will have to have it and then. . . . . . . her deuce finds a new home and a 1125r comes to stay with me. Hopefully they get the bugs all worked out before then.

That new 1125 wont run on the dirty & bendy, they can keep it for the riders that want the race replica feeling bikes. Where was the dirt bike announcement...
