If you get a bird, give back a peace sign. Assholes hate it when they get blown off. ~SM |

quote:You are blaming him? Of course, it can't possibly be the Buell's fault. Drivegear bearing failure twice. I've had mine fail once- total teardown.
Based on the failures we see here on badweb, even one occurrence of drive gear bearing failure in the life of an XB is still considered rare. Three occurrences on one bike would be quite the anomaly. At the very least I would suspect the problem was not correctly repaired the first time. |

You guys are going about it all wrong! Here's what to do - If you get the bird, blow them a kiss! It freaks the hell out of 'em! Or maybe it's my long hair. . .Trust me, it works, either way! |

(to get back on topic...) well...yesterday it happened again. pulled up to the gas pump and there were a couple of rice-racers fueling up. first off, the sound of the bike got their attention. then they asked what it was, had heard the name before, and liked what they saw since they'd never seen one before. we talked for a while and i admitted that it will only go 135 downhill with a tailwind, and the guy on the 'BUSA said "yeah, but it'll turn like a mutha f***a. i don't want to be on the tail in front of ya. i'd be in the way." we all talked some more, laughed, paid for our gas and went on. there's a$$holes everywhere. especially in the motorcycle world. but more often than not, if you aren't one of them, you won't find many that are. sorry 'bout yer luck there, traction. but again, i think it was an isolated incident that had nothing to do with you or the bike. just some jerks who happened to ride motorcycles. or maybe they were just posing for pictures.....

Chances are......they were younger and have yet to realize that having a fat ego does nothing but make you more of an a$$. I say go about yer business and dont let that crap bother you. You bought a Buell because you like it.......why does it matter what anyone else thinks about your bike. I personally have given more than one very curious IL4 rider the chance to take my bike for a ride and they dont take me up on it.........I THINK THEY ARE AFRAID THEY WILL LOVE IT AND BE FORCED TO BUY A SECOND BIKE. |

Amongst many sportbike riders (at least in my area) 'the finger' is equivalent to waving hello. Especially if they frequent SBN. I wouldn't get too frazzled by it. |

I doubt jealousy comes into play with motorcycles, unless you own some exotic extremely high dollar bike. Motorcycles are like boats for most people - toys. Generally, if you don't like what you're riding you just buy what you do. |

Spike, great video. As far as jealousy goes, it was because of jealousy of my buddy's CityX that I got my 12R. Getting torn up in the canyons by him while I'm on my liter bike really got to me. Yeah, it went fast on the straights, but I wasn't about that anymore. To each his own |

The only ones that don’t seem to like them are the ones who don’t know anything about them. My biggest problem and it’s not really one, is that everyone is curious about and wants to hear all about it. I feel like a jerk when I must finely cut them off and go where ever I need to go at a certain time. |

I feel like a jerk when I must finely cut them off and go where ever I need to go at a certain time. lol. true. i hate leaving when somebody else in the group hasn't had their question answered, but then again... that's life. besides, my daddy always said that in life and onstage, leave 'em wanting more. |

Same here, the only people that don't like my bike (or any Buell) are the people that don't know anything about them, and don't care to learn. They're stuck in there ways: Slow Harley Old weak motor leaks oil Not reliable I ask if they've heard that Harley has changed a bit in the past 20 years. I usually then walk away. |

"Is that a serious question? Scroll up and read what you wrote, then consider the implications of your post. Someone said that super-bike-riding XB haters were jealous. You asked if that person was joking. The implication of that question is that super bikes are so superior to XBs that anyone stating that a super bike rider is jealous would have to be joking. You later go a step further and resort to name-calling of those you've insulted, and then state that anyone who responds to being insulted is lashing out to make themselves feel better because they are so ashamed of their XBs." You read into it what you wanted it to say.I doubt any one of those guys that flipped him off were jealous, not because I think japanese repliracers are better, but because most people that have a motorcycle are not jealous of other people's rides. |

"Third?!? How the heck did he do that? I've put in some ~50k miles on Buells since '01 and have yet to go through even one motor." Actually I am on my third set of crankcases and third transmission rebuild, and yes I believe it wasn't fixed right the first time. |

All the sport riders I run into like my Buell and love to chat about bikes....However most old crusty Harley riders are the ones that have nothing nice to say about it. It's been called a "mini bike, rice burner, god damm race bike, ect. all by Harley riders. go figure |

To answer your original post. Yes, there are XB, and Buell in general, haters out there. It really isn't important what others think about your bike. If you like it, ride it, if you don't sell it.

I'm taking my bike to the track next week and a friend of mine told his friend that there will be a BUELL at the track. His comment was, it only has half an engine. I laughed. It's OK cause I believe this is the most incredible bike I've ever ridden and I don't really care what other people think. Ignorance, just plain ignorance!! Great picture by the way. |

The Pup is amazingly annoying, not because he is like rocket or 07xb12scg who i dont mind actually, they have opinions that are controversial for a "buell forum" but they arent or dont seem to only post to be obnoxious. Wow. I guess I'm starting to become notorious over here. Well at least I'm not blending into the crowd. Isn't that why some of you ride Buells? To stand out... Anyway, all kidding aside Jackelfox is correct. I have an opinion that differs from most of the people on this site. I don't hate Jap bikes or Harleys and I don't think my Buell is better nor do I think it's perfect. I love motorcycles, period. I have had a lot of problems with my Buell and it frustrates the hell out of me since it is brand new. I state my opinions and my experiences - negative or positive. Most people don't like my opinion since it differs so much nor do they like me telling how my Buell has been less than perfect so they automatically assume I'm here to cause trouble. I'm not, but I am here to express my experiences and my opinion. If you don't like me or my views I could care less. This isn't high school and I'm not looking to be popular - here on the board or in life. I tend to tell it like it is from my point of view and I don't care who gets offended. As I've said before people have been really receptive of my Buell and most like the way it looks. Those who rode it say "it's different, but I like it". I have friends and relatives who ride Jap sport bikes and I also have friends and relatives who ride Harleys or other cruisers. I get the wave from sport bikes much more than I do from the Harley guys. As much as there are young kids who think anything non-Japanese sucks, there are just as many, if not more, Harley guys who think anything else sucks. This includes Buells even though they are a Harley. But again, I don't care who does or doesn't like my Buell or myself. It's no sweat on my back and I'm not about to waste a second trying to convince people otherwise. |

Hey everyone! Look at me, me, me! That would have been a heck of a lot less typing. Do you honestly believe that most or even a significant portion of BadWeBrs "hate Jap bikes or Harleys ... (or) think (their Buell) is perfect"? My take is that many folks here prefer their Buell over other motorcycles. Many own other brands, including Harleys and Japanese models. And you're just swell in my book. But please try to lighten up a little bit. This place is for fun, camaraderie, and information, not for proving to the world how independent and righteous we each are. |

Do you not read your own posts? You may ride one and love the thing, but here on badweb it seems like you never miss an opportunity to tells us how bad the XB is or how much better something else is. Why do you think you get such a response from other posters? Do you think everyone reads that message into your posts? Are you suggesting it's just a badweb conspiracy to view you as being negative towards the XB line? |

You're right. It's all about me all the time. Now stop trying to steal my thunder... Please, don't be ridiculous. I was explaining myself and how I'm not an XB Hater which is the topic of this thread. Yes, I do believe a good portion of the members of this site hate Japanese sport bikes and/or Harleys. What makes me think this? All the jeers every time it's mentioned that Japanese sport bikes are faster than Buells, when it's asked if Buells are Harleys or anything like this. And you're right. I am "swell". I'm also generally light-hearted and I love long walks on the beach...oh wait. Wrong site! :P |
