Well.......guess what happened to me today? You got it. The '03 belt blues. It broke at 3800 miles. Not very many miles on it. What a way to wreck a Great ride day. I had to call in two favors to get it trailered home. This sucks.......

Classic Failure mode. Simple tension failure. Sorry to hear it. Not exactly surprised. Frankly I am a bit surprised that so few of these failures have resulted in serious injury. Lots of the brothers, especially '03 owners, have switched to chain. Saintly sells a chain conversion that cost little more than a replacement '03 belt. It has been very well received. I think it is a better solution than upgrading to the '06 belt, which is better than the '03, but not exactly bullet proof and a lot more expensive than Saintly's chain conversion. 16k on my original 03 belt. just ordered an upgraded 03 version but i plan on keeping the orig as a spare since its been so good to me. (Message edited by buelltroll on June 10, 2007) |
