Much better for sure! Just be sure to repack that Jardine when it starts to sound raspy or every 3-5 thousand miles and it will be fine. For the question about the powdercoating, I did mine and it was $175 for the wheels, fork tubes and bases. Of course I had to buy new bearings, have tires taken off and mounted and the forks taken apart and put back together. Needless to say the powdercoating was the less than half of the total cost. |

The rims are the stock black rims from Buell I swapped them with another bike. So I saved a little money there. The rest of the powder coating was $90.00 and was done overnight so I diddnt have to wait for it. I did all the work myself except the powdercoating so I only had to pay for parts. I Sold all of the old parts from the bike on ebay (seat, plastic, exhaust) SO I saved more money there. Total I only put $1000 into it and the total including the bike was 6,900 (I got the bike for 5,900, it is a 2005 with 3,00 miles on it) |

Wow. The Cherry Bomb Red plastic looks awesome with black wheels. It just looks mean. Plus, I like the black subframe rails. Very nice bike! The only thing I don't like is the Jardine exhaust. 1. Because it's a Jardine. 2. Because it's shiny and nothing else on the bike is. It sticks out like a sore thumb. |

Packing mufflers is easy, and you can get the material from it at any motorcycle shop. It's basically a very fine fiberglass matting. It is also possible to locate stainless steel packing that never has to be replaced. The Canadian company "Staintune" used to be a good source for it. They build 100% stainless exhausts for a lot of different bikes, but not for XBs |

I noticed in your profile that you "notched" your headlight switch to create a "both" position. What a great idea! Would you like to share with the board exactly how you accomplished that? |

Thanks for all of the GREAT response EVERYONE! As far as the exhaust goes... I like the jardine I have been running a jardine for years and I have had no problems...not yet. |

As far as notching the headlight switch... I simply opened up the switch and removed the low/high beam switch (be careful not to loose the small bearing or spring or any other part) there is a white piece that the bearing rides in...I just used a dremmel to add a notch in the middle of the 2 positions so now there is a third position in the middle to have both the low and high beams on. If you you place your switch in the middle as, you will see that both lights come on...You will also feel where you should place the notch. I have run all of my bikes this for a few years it works GREAT! I am also putting in highbeams into both headlights Let me know if this helps. |

There's a clever solution to the one-eyed Buell problem. You can also "just" switch two wires on the plastic connector for the headlights. I tried to accomplish this today, but failed to get the metal plugs out of the plastic connector! I'll try again another day. |

to continue the hijack, the bulbs are the same whether high beam or low, so unless you can source a highbeam housing you arent going to have "both high beams" furthermore you dont want to do that. High beams aim up the road at the expense of the immediate area in front of you, both lights working together as high and low would be much more functional |

I have had the best results by using the high and low beam lights on at the same time.It gives light close and far at night. They also make you way more visible during the Day. |

Back on subject I think the bike looks great. As for the muffler??? I like that its bling. Makes the exhaust stand out. Good job. |

Thanks for the compliment...As for the exhaust, I think it looks good as well but... I finally got a good ride on it yesterday and the performance is not that great. I read the exhaust shootout and it is very close to accurate about how the exhaust preforms on my bike. I am now looking in to either a Drummer or a Special Ops pipe. I love the jardine on my XB9 however. |
