Here is my work in progress. I have taken a '06 XB12R and added an '06 XB12SS swingarm and then used the suspension from an '07 XB12CG. Let me know what you think.

Looks great! I really like the rag hangin' from the peg! Did you order that? What model was it from? Seriously, nice bike man! Looks like it's been lowered.

I wish they would offer a cg version of the Rs. If they did I probably would have bought the black and red R instead of my cherry bomb red S.

I like it.

I agree completely not everyone is tall enough for the R. I wish sportbikes were a little lower in the seat height department for us short people. Erik if you are reading any of this you are sitting on a potential gold mine. I knowI for one am just about ready for a new bike and I want something a little more sporty to go with my 03 XB9SL.

Brumbear those are actually wire cutters. But yes the garage is messy too.
Terribletim that is a custom red rag that I had a local machine do for me, I know its pretty sweet. Really I haven't gotten the longer ss brake line in yet from the dealership. Thank you for all the good comments though.

Some people have talked about doing that, but you're the first I've seen actually do it. Did you use the CG forks too? It seems like the back is a little lower than the front. If you don't mind my asking what is the reasoning behind using the low parts? It seems like you would be tall enough for the regular height.

Good work!

Will be interesting to hear how it handles?
Looks good though.

That first pic almost looks like a drag bike, just needs a wheelie bar out the back.

Very cool. I'd love to see that very bike come from the factory except with a translucent Cherry Bomb full fairing.

I put cg suspension on my firebolt this winter too.

It is a very simple swap (especially for the 03 models since the triple trees stay the same ;))

Buell should consider it as a "parts bin engineering" model.

Olinxb12r yes I used cg front forks. The back is lower than the front, because the ss swingarm has a different lower shock mount position than the regular swingarm. I might switch back to the stock rear shock I am not sure I have to see how it handles. I am tall enough to ride at stock height I could stand flat footed with it but I like long and low bikes. But I like the semi stock look. So I raided buells parts bins!

I'm diggin' it!

How much was the cg suspension?
Did you buy new?

So is the SS rear shock longer than standard? If so, the standard shock might put it right where it's supposed to be. But it seems like it would make for a bouncy rear compared to the cg forks which have an extremely short throw. Might need a custom shock?

Looks good though!

Sweet ride. I'm all about a custom look that appears factory too. It would not hurt my feelings to put a long swingarm on my XB12SXcg. Love that long and low stance. Reminds me of the way a Busa sits a little. It just looks more substantial. Sometimes when I look at my bike, it looks like a toy because it's so stubby and low. Anyway, thanks for sharing. It's bada**. Let us know how it handles and what the wheelbase is.

Tank_bueller I traded suspension with a guy from california. I do believe that the SS shock is longer than a standard shock. I am going to look into getting a custom shock made possible air-ride?

The measurements of the bike are 54" axle to axle and 29" seat height.

Here are some updated pics. I had to relocate my battery 1/2 back and up in the rear subframe to clear the new rear shock. Then I cut 3/4" out of the kickstand, because it didn't lean over far enough for my liking. Then I put a jardine pipe on it.

if you look at those pics, the rear seems to still be a little high even with you sitting on it. the back of the exhaust is higher than the front. so you must have put the stock shock back on?

the swingarm itself though was a bolt on setup? there was plenty of conversation for awhile about whether it would be or not.

i like it!

No rice I still have the cg rear shock on it. I did flip the rear bracket for the jardine pipe upside-down to give me more ground clearance in the rear. As for the swingarm it was a bolt on swap.
