Hey guys, I was looking at an SCG in the showroom and liked the reduction in seat height.

I wondered if anyone with the low suspension would be interested in doing a swap over the winter.
Just a straight trade of the forks, shock, and kickstand. I have an 03 so my forks will
be a straight swap with the scg/low's 41mm forks.

I'm not in a big rush since there is still some good riding time to be had before winter sets in.
I'm just trying to see if anyone is interested. Please PM me as well as answering here if you are!

(the Low/SCG Buells have a Yellow spring on the shock, that is the easiest way to spot
them if you aren't sure if your bike is standard or low)

You're gonna like the change Brian.
An XBR with the low suspension really does something for the handling, in a good way.
Not just for the shorter rider, I'm six feet, and when I rode one the 3%s swapped, it was a great feeling.
Good luck!

with the balance issues I have (bum leg) I think it will make me much more comfortable
in low speed maneuvers.

I'm hoping someone with a low wants to bring their bike up to standard height!

Anyone?

Not sure about how far, maybe an inch or so.
Since you're changing both ends, it keeps it level.
Even though I'm tall, if I had an R it's the way I'd go.
It really made that big of a difference.

Brian, I do believe it will help with the low speed maneuvers. Hope some one takes you up on your offer.
Have you tried posting this in the classifieds as well? Quick Board?

I have about 4k miles on my bike so the suspension is no where near shot.

I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Yeags30, let me know if you want to do the swap. I'd rather wait until riding season is
over to do the swap, but I'll work with you if that's what we need to do.

You keep breaking yours though...;)

Actually you know how it is, I can't ride nearly as often as I wish I could.
I just don't like to make too big of a thing of it. I still intend to get
some more miles in before it gets too cold Tim don't worry!

It sucks being a young man stuck in an old man's body sometimes.

I am very interested in the scg. I don't know why, but that bike does it for me. I guess it's 180 degrees from what I already have, a Uly.

Nothing like going from one extreme to another.

I'm not big on wheelies, any I pull are usually accidental.
With my lil' 1250 I do get power wheelies, but that's not the same thing.
Even though I can't hang off the corners are more my thing.
You don't give up much, if anything in the way of cornering clearance with the low/SCG.

You do make a good point though for those with a low that want to work on their wheelies
I might have just what they are looking for.

It gets cold enough for me to stiffen up too much to want to ride!

Not all of us are polar bears like you Steve!

Even if my wife would disagree when it comes to adjusting the thermostat.
Hmmm...Maybe I could convince her I'm in training for winter riding?

(beavis and butthead style)
Heh heh, heh he...He said stiff!

Come on now, someone with a "low" bike has got to be considering the option of having a taller bike.

I have to work under the assumption that Yeags30 will have his bike sold before winter sets
in so I don't get disappointed if He does.

There have to be a couple of people that didn't realize that the bike they bought
was a low and wanted the standard suspension out there, I just have to figure out
how to reach them.

How many people have yellow shock springs that didn't know what that meant? Most dealers
(or at least the salesmen) don't know the difference.

If you have the low suspension your ride could be "plusher" if that's a word. Another
inch of suspension travel can be the difference between bottoming out and barely noticing
some of the potholes out there.

(I'll keep beating this drum....someone stop me....PLEASE ;))

Spork, no, it's just stiffer...

Good luck Brian...you know the struggle I went through with my "big" buell...so having the scg has been such a joy. I hope you find a swap out for your bike and ride the heck out of it for the next season...and when you guys get too cold, Florida has all year riding... whenever you're ready!

cowboyup, I don't know what the shipping would be, I haven't pulled the parts to weigh them.

Maybe someone who has done the swap can chime in with an estimate (or how much it cost them)?

BTW I'm in Missouri.

Gentleman Jon has shipped his to and from a suspension tuner, as well as from e-bay. He'd probably have a good idea as to how much. Shouldn't too expensive, as long as you use UPS Ground.

This just in from Gentleman_Jon: it cost between $50-75 to ship his forks and shock
when he had them re-worked a while back.

Are you still interested in swapping suspension parts with an Scg owner?
