Well, I pulled it off. Had Francois from European Streetfighter in St. Pete give me a hand with the re-assembly. I think it looks, and feels great with the new a$$ end. While I was at it, I deleted the turns front and back and added Kellerman barends. Also removed the plate and sidemounted it to the two tabs on top of the swingarm (from removing the beltguard) Very clean in back now. BTW, I used LED bolts to illuminate the plate...works great. So whadya think???

nice, i wanted to do that to my plate too, but i thought it stuck out to far, i wonder how it would look if it was raised up a bit and put in over the belt where the guard was.

That is a great looking ride! I love the barend/signals. What is the deal with the front sproket cover? Is that an off the shelf piece?

Very excellent. Love it.

I do hope you will take no offense if It take the liberty of making a few suggestions to gild the lily.
1. Add a red plastic seat cowl
2. Change the front flyscreen to black
3. paint the rear sprocket to match the red of the wheels.

Keep up the good work!!

Thanks guys. It wasn't just a bolt on for those of you interested. Here's roughly what had to be done to make it work.
1.top front mount of the subframes had to be ground down. The Ss frame is wider. Also, it's close, but the bolt holes don't match up. I had to ream out/relocate the bolt holes on the subframes to match up. I didn't want to mod my factory frame. Then it bolted up.
2.shock. was able to keep the factory Ss shock by notching out the undertray and laying it in there.
3.in order to lay the shock in there, the battery had to be moved to the left.
4.undertray. had to be slightly notched/ground out to clear the shock spring at full compression
The rest was just careful routing/cramming of all the electronics back in there, which I give credit to my buddy Francois.

The barends are by Kellerman, and are usually imported. Check with the sponsors first, I'm sure Trojan can get em for you. They come in polish and chrome too.

Jon, I'm with you on one of them. I'm already considering adding the American Sport Bike rear cowl and painting it and the grater sunset orange to match.

The rearsets and front pulley cover are Free Spirits from Trojan. Got them because they matched and came in black AL.

Pupu, I mounted the plate there because the two bolt tabs were already there on the swingarm and a bit of an eyesore. It has the perfect angle, and is actually quite high...I would have to wipe out to scrape it I'm sure! Just made a simple bracket to mount it there.

Also, I ditched the rear master cylinder...just running the small length of hose...looks real clean.

thanks again guys, more to come.

Brucelee...yep, they're missing. I was running a CRG barend that I didn't put back on. I have Rizoma 851's on backorder. Should look good in black. If not, they go on the night rod and I try something else.

Also, it's subtle, but we disassembled the front end to paint the trees and fork lowers frame grey to match everything. I like it.

Tommy_K - What do you mean you ditched the rear master cylinder? Do you not have rear brakes anymore?

jandj,
I meant the overflow bottle...the little white plastic deal that mounts up in the subframe. I removed it and just have a small piece of clear hose with a bolt in it, all zip tied up. I'll shoot a close up for you...hard to explain.

I am just trying to figure out what's going on here. Is it that the new Long Lightning has a longer tail section to correspond with it's slightly longer wheelbase? If that's so, then I guess you were looking for a more abreviated look; is that correct? To tell you the truth, I can't really tell the difference in the pictures of that bike and those of my "pasta-strainer-eliminated" XB9S Lightning. Still, it's a very clean bike. It looks just line mine, only red.

Beauty! Erik would be proud. All the stuff designers want to do that DOT won't let them. Now if you could just loose the plate...
