That was me. Thanks Dave. Can you ask HBM if I can just bolt it onto a stock, 06 12?

Regards,

Wouldn't a turbo cause the engine to smack the redline quicker than it already does? I would think you'd want to change your gearing to accomplish a couple of things. 1) Keep the front wheel on the ground, and 2) have a more useable power spread.

I hate to say this but if you really want 160hp then go buy a R1 or something Nippon. I could have bought one for what I paid for my XB12 I chose a different path. Something as highly modified as a turbo XB will be allot of headaches. But you are right, HOW COOL that would be!! You guys are rubbing off on me.

I wonder what kinda speed you would have to be doing before you could actually pin the throttle without having to worry about going over. Maybe you could go from 120 to 125 really fast then hit red line.

Guys, guys, guys,

Haven't you ever wanted something just to be different? Like owning a Buell? First off I think HBM claims around 110-115hp when bolted onto a stock XB engine. That's not ridiculous...especially on my Ss with the 2 extra inches. And yes, the bike tops at 130ish stock...yes, we'd lose some of the LOUD potato, potato, potato sound...but who cares. I guarantee you'll be the only one in the parking lot with one...maybe the entire state!

Naah...you don't need any of that. You just need a road that is so twisty you can't use the power the engine already has. Then work on terrorizing sportbike riders who think Buells are slow. : )

I live roughly zero miles from just such a road : ).

That's the one I'm talking about Glitch : ). Apparently they had fueling issues and are still trying to work them out. Aside from that, it's a go : ).

I'd like a turbo XB, it would go well with my turbo Miata. Then I'd have two of the world's best handling vehicles overcome by excessive power!

I actually think a turbo would be great for an XB. Huge exhaust gas pulses and relatively low RPM should make it easier to find the right size turbo for minimal lag, and the turbo itself will dampen the exhaust noise enough to run a nearly open exhaust and still get past EPA regulations.

Turbo lag? What lag that turbo is so small spool up is Instantaneous.

Ummm, it's not instantaneous. Maybe close and I'm sure they're great when you're NOT at the limit of available traction in a corner. When you are though, you need something with absolutely linear power addition with no lag what so ever. I'm not saying it would be impossible to ride by any means, but not quite as user friendly as a directly driven device.

The only turbo motorcycle I've ever ridden was a Kawasaki GPz 750 Turbo. That bike was downright scary when the turbo spooled up about 4500rpm. It was cool to chop the throttle and hear the wastegate dump. : )

"You just need a road that is so twisty you can't use the power the engine already has."

I'm with Chad. With good roads, who needs mods? Besides, I already have a turbocharged vehicle--with a Cummins Diesel.

Diesel! Now you're talking.

Can you imagine the torque the XB would make running on oil? LOL! : )
