For those of you XB'ers who are now running synthetic oil like Mobile One in your engine and the synthetic gear oil in your primary, was wondering at what mileage you made the switch?

After contacting Redline, They recommended 1500 miles to make sure the rings were set. Been running Redline 20/50 in the crankcase since and ran 75/90 in the transmission since 1000 miles.

1000. Wish I had waited longer though for the engine as I use some oil under hard running. I would put synthetic in the trans immediately though.

Motor=1000 miles
Tranny=10,000 miles
Didn't realize the tranny fluid made such a big difference. Do it, you won't regret it.
The motor though you might want to have at least a thousand miles on her. Some will agree, some will disagree.

I was rather amazed at how easily the transmission shifts now after 5000 miles.

4000 miles for both. But I did read a well written article in a Brittish mag that said even though the majority of the "running in" was done at 500 miles, an engine continues to make metalurgical changes up to 5000 miles, which would be impeded by synthetic.

1000 mi. service. I've used Harleys screamin' eagle 20W 50 synthetic in both since that service and trust the Buell/Harley engineers' decision to state "Safe for use during break-in."

2500 miles right before my trip from new orleans to detroit. Heard the syn works better in the cold.

engine 334 miles. trans 1015 miles. rings seating is not inhibited by synthetic oil.the concept of "too slippery" is an absurd urban legend that needs to be put to rest. dean.
