So I'm in no rush or anything but I'm not a fan of my headers rusting. They aren't bad but you know how it is you get something new and you just gotta make it your own! I'm curious if there is a "go to" exhaust and ecm. I have read a few times that a new ecm may improve the heat. This of course is hypothetical considering I haven't ridin it yet and don't truly know if I like the bike. Not really concerned about that though. Thanks for the info | ||

How are you cleaning them? I take a 3m pad and spray wd40 on it. Scrub em good. Usually it leaves them looking new. If the rust is real bad use an SOS pad. | ||

Stainless doesn't rust. . . . . Still don't know why everyone thinks they need a different ecm. The stock and race are essentially the same thing. Race just has more features turned on. You can turn all of them on in the stock ecm with Ecmspy and Tunerpro RT. Www.xoptiinside.com | ||

Stainless does rust, it is just more corrosion resistant than non-stainless steel. Different grades have different chromium content and some are more prone than others. I don't know or care what the grade of the stock headers are, but no SS is completely rust proof. I bought the EBR ECM because I didn't have the time to screw with the tuning myself. Too many other irons in the fire. I do all of my own maintenance/mods/etc myself. If someone wants to buy an ECM instead of tuning their own, I don't judge. The OP may be able to snag one from the classifieds here to buy one ready to go. Twin Motorcycles can also program the ECM right over the internet. The search function on this site sucks, but try the "google BADWEB" link and you will get better results. | ||

IMHO all aftermarket exhaust for the 1125 is too loud. I am running the Keda RT1 with a quiet tip insert. I have 35,000 miles on mine now and it still sounds great. Nice deep tone without overpowering your neighbors eardrums. Highly recommend | ||

d_adams has the best idea, ceramic coating! the gas won't boil as much, the rider will be cooler and the engine won't cook as much either!! This is what the factory should have done in the first place. | ||

While ceramic is best, heat wrap is an easy method that both looks good and is very functional.  | ||

Honestly, when I see wrapped pipes, I expect damaged metal. Buell/H-D used good metal, polish it once every 2-5 years and you're good. Polished pipes give off less heat. H.S. Physics | ||

Yeh heat wrap might be effective but i dont think it looks good. |
