I was thinking about maybe adding a 50-100 shot of nitrous to my 1125r but I have no idea how strong the bottom end is on the 1125 series, does anybody have any ideas? I would use a wet system with a gradual slope to 100 not just a full dump.

Compression ratio is pretty high. Might want to go with a dry system

Is this the same 1125r that you wrapped around a tree and then posted that you wanted to trade for an Uly?

I explained in that thread that the damage was a completely destroyed front end and bent subframe. The insurance didn't even total it because the damage wasn't sever enough. I was very angry when it first happened and made it sound worse, but hey put yourself in my shoes, you would have been mad too. I replaced the front end, and fixed the subframe. If you email me I could give you a rundown of the accident and exactly what happened.

Budgolf, you are thinking opposite--dry system has no fuel solenoid and adds fuel though ecm(I can set up a Busa with a secondary map in stock ecu for nitrous) or fooling temp sensor. A "wet" system has both a nitrous and a fuel solenoid and adds both. 100 shot an awful lot for a "dry" system. And probably want to have a way to pull timing up top as well.

Budgolf,
Actually, the compression ratio is not so high. Physical CR is 12.4 to 1, but actual (dynamic) is 8.6. Actual CR depends largely on the intake valve closure point. The 1125 stock and racing cams that I have measured use 15-60, 60-15 timing. This is quite long, hence the low actual CR. Did you not ever wonder why you can run low octane pump fuel without experiencing engine rattle?

Mr SB,
I think adding nitrous is a really bad idea, especially on the short wheelbase Buell. When you push the button, the power increase is sudden, shockingly sudden and uncontrollable. It's a really good way to get dead. The lower end is plenty strong enough. The weak point is the cylinder head to cylinder seal. Mechanically, you'll be blowing out head gaskets on a regular basis.

Alright how about a gradual 50 shot? I know that a full dump would eat gaskets alive, but would a gradual? I have a 75 shot on my sportster, but I know everything there is too know about sportster engines and I fitted the engine with billet everything, but with the 1125 I am clueless.

Mr SB,
On the 1125 as it built today, cylinder pressure is not your friend for 2 reasons. The first is the cylinder to head seal already mentioned. The second is the cam timing. The stock cam opens the exhaust valve 60 degrees BBDC. There is considerable cylinder pressure still in the cylinder at that time and this pressure would be much higher with nitrous. Trying to open the exhaust valve against that pressure puts excessive stress on the drive chain, cam bearings and the finger follower to cam contact patch, which is actually quite small in comparison to other designs. Aggravating this further is the amount of oil available to the top end. Will this cause component failure? I don't know, but without addressing the issues above first, I wouldn't do it. Your call.

I have worked on Harley motors my entire life, but never with liquid cooled, non pushrods motors. That is y I said that, and why I am asking questions.

Jim, i wasnt Aware that a dry system added extra fuel like a wet system. Learned something new today!

I ran 12hp dry shot, using Ecmspy to add fuel.Gained .3 of a sec went 9.43. But I run a bigger fuel pump and 750cc injectors. There is not much spare capacity on stock injectors. Why do you think 1190s run shower head secondary injectors?
You definitely won't find 50hp of spare fueling.
I tried a 40shot in a last gasp final qualifier and now I've got a broken back. Ran a pb 60ft on the back wheel but ended up on my backside at 100ft with the bike on top of me.

The fastest bike on ice, 1125r. Ran a 100 horse progressive system...

I run a 50 horse shot on my 9r.

Company is gone, and maintenance support will be gone soon. If it were me and I wanted to juice a bike, I would trade the 1125R on something more mainstream.

The bike is fantastic, and I have no plans to trade my rock-solid 2008 model, but I would not be pushing a bike beyond specs when I had limited support in factory and aftermarket.

Just a thought...Don't crucify me!
