What's the actual top speed a stock '09 1125R on 91 octane pump gas can do?

Well I know for a fact the 2009 1125CR pegged out at 168 (or was it 178? Don't recall, but one of the two) indicated.

ACTUAL, like, GPS monitored speed? I don't have a clue. I can say for certain its damn hard to hang on at that speed!

I'd have to do a search on here, but I remember "theoretical" top speed being something like 178. - that is, based upon gearing and rev limiter.

When I was at the Bub speed trials in 2008 an 1125R ran just shy of 170 what I remember that bike looked very stock.

I've seen 165 on more than one occasion, wasn't to redline yet but bike was very lazy and would have taken a long distance to pick up a couple more MPH.

Actual real top speed (GPS or radar verified) on a stock 1125R will be in the mid/upper 160mph range. The large front fairing, which provides pretty good wind protection, is aerodynamically a barn door. Well, not quite, but close. Our bikes lose a lot of acceleration over 130mph or so because of aerodynamics. An 1125R with an exhaust, tune and K&N might break 170mph, but it will be barely.

The EBR race ECM raises the rev limiter 500 RPM's, this changes your speed from roughly 168 mph to 178-180 if the conditions are perfect

I hit 145 without issue and my R had a lot more to give. I know that isn't maxed out but I could definitely feel the difference with the EBR ecm than with the stocker.

And of course the size and weight of the rider is a significant factor at those speeds.

Indicated and theoretical or actual with a timeslip. I am guessing that the 160's is about top considering aero etc. Indicated has nothing to do with reality any more.

gps indicated - yes
speedo indicated - no
I know at 70 (GPS)mph reads 73 on my speedo
it will only exacerbate as speeds double

Okay so this is pretty simple hit rev limter at 10,500 RPM and you're going 172.4 MPH, hit 11,000 RPM and you would be going 180.6 MPH.

That depends on your tires. Some tires run bigger or smaller than others (even if they say 180/55/17), also tire wear and pressure are involved too, and I'm sure it expands a little with temperature and rotational force. But yes if you found a long enough strip of pavement and no headwind or other negative issues, your numbers would be correct.

Edit: The tire size in the gear calculator is a bit off, my real world measurement of a Pirelli Diablo Strada (newish, cold) was 76.6" not the 79.9" that it is defaulting too. Your mileage will vary a bit here, you can play around with the calculator to see how much the tire will skew the numbers.

There is a cool feature in the ECM that it compensates for this so it is not inaccurate at higher speeds. It mostly will come down to the tire to determine how accurate the speedo is reading.

I feel like the reason I went for the 1125 was because I wanted a v-twin with ample torque-power, it's more interesting to me how well it accelerates at low to mid speeds rather than at high range. I would have bout an I4 if top speed was my goal. Having said that I have hit 169 on mine before I got the EBR tuner and barkers but I imagine now that I have those up readers it would be higher.
